Not to nit-pick, but 1080p is 1920x1080... and I hope they can keep it at 1080 since that's the native resolution of my TV (and every other 1080 set) and the picture always look better on an LCD at the native res. I also have a feeling that they may be willing to sacrifice the maximum grid size so they can shove in more eye candy for bragging rights. It wouldn't be my design choice, but the way the game business is these days...
To re-center the conversation back to the main topic:
As far as i am concerned, i have been playing GT5-P for a year now on my Samsung 720p
50-inch Plasma... The graphics are the best i have seen in my life... .... until my GF acquired a Samsung 1080p
50-inch Plasma from one of those Thanksgiving Black-Week Deals ...
I did not think there could be a difference between the two sets, as the 720p resolution is great enough already for me... "how could that be improved even more" i told myself...
But I could not be more wrong, and so i was unprepared to face the new reality...
my mind was blown away at how much better GT5-P and the PS3 are on the new TV set... 👍👍👍
this past weekend, i have been trying out the new Plasma (1920x1080) ...
IT IS so crispy / crystal clear !!! BEAUTIFUL!
It DOES! make a difference!
That's why i would not want PD/Kaz to downgrade to 720p...
If you are considering on purchasing a Big screen (larger than 40 inch) and are a big fan of GT series, I would totally recommend it to everyone to get a 1080p screen, if you are lucky/fortunate enough to afford it... (anything less than 40 inch, save your money and dont bother with the 1080p, you will not see the difference.)
So for now, i will be switching between the two Plasma screens, and bringing the PS3 back and forth:
one TV is upstairs in the M.Bedroom (1080p),
the other is downstairs in the Living Room (720p) for when guests are home, or if i want to play with the Cockpit/Seat.
game should be 1080p.
720p vs 1080p on big screens is like night and day !
I have to say yes to that ... When playing GT5-P, ( am not talking about other games since i dont own any other games than GT5-P) The differences in graphics and visual eye candy are NOT minimal... you CAN see a better rendition on the 1080p and what Kaz intended you to see when playing this game. On the 720p, there is a certain "lack"/"less" details, especially on the cars' lines.... the visual are "downgraded" on a 720p large screen... having said that, it would not bother you until you have seen the true graphics from a 1080p....
