I'd answer "Can't decide". It's got great cars, but it needs more supercars, LMP:s, tuning cars (Like supra) and less Nissan Fairladies, microcars and Mazda roadsters.

If I could decide, I'd stick out 2 Microcars to get Aston Martin V8 Vantage to premium. (Not the one in the game, the other car that is in the DB9 fridge at Top Gear) or Bentley Speed 8 or any standard LMP car, excluding Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car.

But still there is a great selection of different cars.

Obviously not. There is so many obvious selections they should have made premium, while there are plenty questionable ones that made it into the game as premiums.

This one for instance?

whooops sorry.

On the whole, yes.

The cars I was most looking forward to driving in GT5 are for the most part, all premiums. Almost all the standard cars are either cars I drove forever in GT4 or cars that I don't care about.

Am I disappointed that great cars like the Veyron are standard? Yes. Would I love to trade one of the million premium skylines for a Zonda, RUF, or Aston Martin? Absolutely.

The whole thing is a crappy situation, but given the options I think PD did ok.

IMO all LMP's and other racing cars should be premium

I think the worst car picked for premium was the Volvo, I think I've driven it once..

Oh and the Vitz, there are cars in GT1 more detailed then it's steering wheel... :p

All in all, not too impressed by the selection.

I am satisfied with it. 200 cars is more then enough. If they just had the premium cars and did not include the standards then I would be fine with that also. I think it is the 800 or so standard cars that make the number of premiums seem low.

What they could have done, is modelled 400 miatas of the one premium, by making small variations. Then they could boast about having 600 premiums.

Anyway, i am happy to the extent, that they have atleast two F1's, 3 LMP's, classic LMP's and some classic muscles, sure they could have add the rest, it would be alot better, but like kaz said, he wanted 2 more years, and maybe with a bit more staff, and less problems it could have been alot better.

Yes. But pd could of done better. Like have more liked cars premium for example lamborghini contash, jaguar Xfr, and man more I havnt listed. I would like the bugatti veyron in premium but instead they scan it in from GT PsP. Also their should of been way less Mx5 and skylines and more desirable cars.

Hmmm good point, one of the best things in Prologue was in every race we were using only premium cars, against premium cars, I miss that feeling, I wish I could turn the standards off with an option or something.

Aaaaah, GT5 Prologue... when GT's future was bright and we didn't know what a "Standard car" or "Premium car" was.

No. Dude they have a crazy load of skylines r32 r33 r34 and r35s and not even a MK4 Thats stock..

And these lovely classic Volkswagen seem to take a lot of flak which actually surprises me to be honest, I didn't expect them to be appreciated by everyone but they almost seem to be the default argument by those who only seem to want more high-performance cars.
I love the fact they were included, even though including both a Kübelwagen and a Schwimmwagen also surprised me to be honest but I love them and actually use them (try them off-road where they make much more sense).

I understand your reasoning. And I would have accepted both cars (and the Samba bus) more if the premium car count wasn't so low in the first place!

I think this is the crucial thing you misunderstand on the issue of the VWs. It's not just that they've been done, it that they've been done at the expense of something else.

No one complained about the 19th century cars in GT4....because there were a thousand cars of indentical quality to drive. Can't say the same with the VWs and GT5.

Another thing I can't quite understand is the RS6......Why the estate? Why not do the RS4?? That would have made a lot more sense to me....Estate just equals old fart with a dog to me. Saloon > Estate every time. Also why no modern Civic hatch back, to me the name civic is synonymous with "hatchback".

Must add....the game needed a few DTM premiums too. At least one each of the Audi's and Mercs (and the Alfa....oh and the TT....gawd I could go on forever)

I voted no. I play this game to race, and not to admire it's beauty. That's what I bought it for. I don't see why a Prius or i-MiEV '09 must be premium when a 97 Supra or Seat Cupra isn't. I mean really, who loves tuning and racing a Prius that's premium? (not a trick question)

Other than that, I love at least 90% of the premium cars.

First of all, i am pretty happy with the Premium car selection PD has delivered to us in GT5, it has a great variety of cars and that is what the spirit of GT5 is all about, as i have mentioned in a post back in another thread which i hope sums the rest of my post up:

GT5 has never been all about the top-tier cars. This game is about having fun in any type of car which caters to a little bit of every audience, be it the supercar loving speed freaks or the ones that like historicaly significent automobiles. This game dosent cater to just one but instead spreads on a variety of tastes, so it gives everyone a bit of what they like, they cant just have a supercar-centric game or it'll just be another boring game, and they cant have too many cheapy cars or it'll be just a ricer sim, PD have made it to spread around all different car categories and cultures to truly make the game feel unique, and with a soul instead of just catering to the masses that want a Veyron or some other bland supercar-filled list of cars.

PD may have included many Japanese cars, but its where they work and are mostly influenced by the many japanese cars but they still have a great amount of non-japanese cars. People should also be happy this game was even out despite the 5 year working time, and before i end this rather long post, i shall leave with this:

If you only go to the supercars, your missing the close racing joys of low-powered cars and highly intense races, and if you only cater to the lower cars you miss the speed thrills of the upper class cars, so if you want to enjoy the game as much as you possibly can, experience all the different types of cars and treat them equally, this is how you will enjoy this game! :)

(Also, i voted yes :D)

And that's just another opinion we don't share, a high-performance version of a station wagon or estate (or even the regular version) is just so much cooler to me since it isn't the obvious choice.
Fully tuned the RS6 even becomes a hyper-estate, the ultimate Q-car or 'sleeper', the fact it's the estate version only adds to the understated looks and classy appeal.

Spot on, expecially the 97 Supra a legend taken out for a damn Prius :(

Its fun for the whole family! I got the kids in the back and going almost 200mph down Döttinger Höhe.

NO. :yuck:

PD has no taste at all... :grumpy:

Am I really the only one who (only) cares about sports cars, exotics and race cars? I feel like a lone wolf...
oh well, I could be always outnumbered (but) never outgunned :sly:.

Yeah! I said it finally!

I'll support thy my brother against this infidels!!!

Seriously. I like that there are common cars in the game, but it sucks that they're the most part of it.

Sure, what people love about GT is that they can drive their Honda Civic in the game. Fair enough, I see your point, pack in, say, a Mazda Miata. Alright, pack a Miata from each generation of the car so you can be more specific. But why the huck do you need 34 Miatas? !!! For crying out loud, the car has only three generations!!! Yes, it's quite a succesful and iconic car but it can be worth more in-game representation that Ferrari, or Le Mans cars.

What about following the following model for including cars:
-Car X
*Prototype.
Generation #X:
*Base model.
*Highest trim/performance stock model.
*Odd or remarkable factory model (Say, a limited, and noticeably limited, edition or concept car)

There you go. It's still varied, but not annoyingly extense. Maximum of around 4 or 5 cars per generation. Of course, exceptions could apply but this is the rough idea of what it could be.

Also, I frankly don't care much for K-Cars. If some people like them, fair enough. But as they're a reduced crowd, K-Cars should have a reduced share of the car list. Yeah, every car should be premium, but some more than the others.

Someone in this thread said already, How many people you know that own X exotic car. Yeah, not many. They all drive crappy commuter boxes. But I'll ask you: how many people WANT to drive X exotic car? Games are the places for fantasy, I couldn't care less for boring/stupid/electric/economic cars in my fantasy games.

To all those who don't want Kei cars and the like in a game they are playing, just go play NFS.

Shut up. What if I want a console game that's entertaining but with great driving physics and graphics? It seems like the majority shares the thought of "Axe the boring cars, get in more exciting stuff"...

YES.... But not for tracks though... The Real Driving Simulator needs MORE REAL WORLD TRACKS DAM'IT.....!!! :)

"Boring" is subjective, I find most modern Ferraris boring, and would have preferred older ones, however there will be others who like them, this can be applied to Lamborghini and many other makers in the game. Yes there are plenty of odd car choices within the game, always has been this way though. I don't care for the likes of the Trans Cammer and things like that but they're there, nothing can be done about it now. But as I said its very subjective as for peoples likes and dislikes, some people are drawn to the fact that they can race everyday cars, something you can't do in real life. Not everyone votes or even voices their opinion in these kinds of threads anyway you could only get a true feel if every regular GT player was polled.

And then we all realized PD got our hopes up. 👎

I'm quite fine with the premium selection. And has anybody thought that they may have chosen those cars based off of what's popular over there in Japan? Even if it's a Suzuki Swift and such things.

Overall, I like most of the premium cars, the others are quite fine, I just don't drive them. 👍

Gran Turismo~N., an encyclopedia of cars and the history of automobiles at that, 'nuff said.
