There are numerous threads about driving aids...

All off except occasional ABS. Only use ABS on cars that don't let you turn it off IRL, as well.

None, I only use ABS on TT and online modes that you can't turn off ABS. Other then that I am a Virgin when it comes to Aids.

I voted ABS but I also use the driving line, a) because I'm lazy and b) because I only have a low def telly and I can't see brake markers clearly enough.

I never Use the Driving line, and from my experience with GT4's License tests, it was off. How is it in the New GT5P? lets say you do a single race, PRO physics, all aids off (abs on) can you fallow the racing line exactly and what place would you take on average?

If you follow it exactly you'll do a hell of a slow lap. Most of the corners are pretty standard racing lines but the braking points are waaaaaay early in half the cases and waaaay late in others and in most cases there's a faster way to do it. I use it as a rough guide to braking on long straights and that's about it - I know how far into the marked braking zone I need to be before I start braking (about half way down it in a GT06 at T1 Suzuka).

If you look at the speeds indicated at the corners, you'll get a good idea of just how slowly you're expected to drive :sly:

Only ever use ABS 1, but when getting used to a car's braking points I'll run with the driving line on until I get the feel for it.

When i was using the control pad, only ever used ABS1. Since i bought my DF GT a couple of weeks ago, i've been occasionally using active steering too with some of the more lairy cars just until i get used to controlling potentional spins.

Thats what I thought, thanks for the info, so basically it's only the line for people that want to learn the racing line.

I think best way to learn Racing line is to DownLoad one of the top 10 player's ghosts and learn from the PROs. I went from 5 seconds Behind #10 in London to 2 seconds behind just from a ghost.

No driver aids. Without the ABS system i got more feling on how hard i'm braking and your brake balance become important.

All off, including active steering and driving line.

Although ABS depends on the car (if the car had ABS in real life)

None at all,

except for cars that I feel are better simulated with them on such as the GTR for which I actually use a higher abs setting (6---7)
This seems to distribute the braking between the tires and rotate the car through the corner just as (electronic brake distribution) would do.

I really wish that the cars with aids would start with default settings that reflect their real world counterparts, not just a generic starting point as they are now. Can't wait for gt5 tuning.

No, none whatsoever. ABS kills the personality of the cars and makes for a boring drive. Sooo much more exciting, last lap, Suzuka, out of 130R, pull along side an opponent for the final chicane, hitting the brakes, squeezing as much performance out of them as possible resting on a knife edge whether you'll slow down in time or lock the wheels and head straight on!

I, like the majority only race with ABS on level 1. Online or not that is how I go, all other aids are completely disabled. I've tried turning ABS all the way off but until I get a wheel I think it might be close to hopeless to brake without locking up the wheels this way. I definitely prefer to know that I place whatever place in races because of my driving skill, not with a safety net comprised of traction control and such.

ABS, active steering, (This just exaggerates the wheel movement right?) and driving line for the drifting. I've noticed more points when you get closer to it, so I just leave it on.
