Do you think that body rigidity improves the car? In what? Thanks

I want to know if it can improves the car, as i tested a car (sti '09) with improved rigidity and i was 4sec faster than the sti with no improved rigidity.

I wish I understood this better, but unfortunately, all I can say is that the cars feel better to drive to me with it installed. :guilty: Sorry I can't be more helpful in that regard.

I'll add my two cents man.
From my tests, I didn't like what I saw on the majority of what I used it on, UNLESS I got it right from the start. If I got it, and then tuned it, then the tune worked around 'whatever it does'. But any car I've already tuned, (*this is important), adding this threw off the feel of the ride. *however, if after the tune, something doesn't "feel" right about your car, maybe your tuning it, and the rides a little shakey and no matter what you change it doesn't effect it, try this.

Case in point;
One of my grind cars is the BMW Z4 M Coupe. Wonderful car, but no matter what I did to it, it felt like I needed to change something, but I couldn't quite figure out what. So I got the rigitidy improvement and nailed it. Bugs gone, and the rides very tuned now.
I still say, use it as a last resort. You don't want to have to buy 2 of every car if you don't like it, lol.

Thanks! Will keep in mind.

I did a comparison of your old (pre 1/17) and new setups for the Autobianchi A112. Both runs were at Laguna Seca on sports soft tires with all aids except ABS off and 500pp. My best lap for the old setup was a 1:36.353, and my best lap for the new setup was 1:36.142, making the new setup better (for me at least) by .211 seconds. I didn't notice any real handling changes though. Car feels really easy to drive, and I found my groupings with both setups to be pretty consistent (< .5 seconds deviation per lap). Highly recommend that setup/car for 500pp events if you're looking for a simple, corner eating lightweight hatchback. Obviously, this car is suited for small tracks with many corners and few straights.

The changes to the Autobianchi were mainly made in the name of improving traction and tire wear rather than outright lap time. The. 2s are probably traction related.

If you wanna try something really funny, you should give the Honda 1300 a swing on the nurburgring. Nitrous down the straight is particularly surprising to unsuspecting victims. I dropped my friend, who was using a car with 2x power, like a prom dress.

Got a few new ones on the way tonight! Stay tuned!

Sounds hilarious, might give it a try sometime. Might I request that you tune the Nissan Silvia 240RS (S110) '83? It's a surprisingly quick car, loads of fun to drive, and has a neat heritage being Nissan's 200-car production version of their Group B rally car. I sense that it even has drifting potential.

Edit: Also, 1:32.718 at Laguna Seca on SS tires and 500pp. Nearly 4 seconds faster than the Autobianchi...

The whole concept of this was so amusing that I just had to try it. Turned out ok; not the best drift car ever, but it will get very sideways and make you laugh.

Looks pretty decent with the right stance and wheels. There is a Best Motoring segment where Dori-Dori drives one of these that has been tuned using Carburetors. The altitude of the track affected the carbs and the car wouldn't rev properly, but man did it sound great. I really like the motor in this one. Shift at 8,000 RPM.

There are 2 tunes available for this car; a grip setup using SS-RS tires, and a drift setup using CH tires.

Careful with this one, you might put someone's eye out with it! ;) If the looks have you skeptical, the sound of the engine cranking up when you get in it should have you sold. This car also has Group B rally heritage! Drive it!

Tons of power. Looks awesome. Be mindful that this car's motor is in front (seriously, who thought that was a good idea?) of the front axle, tuck the nose in early and use the 4wd to power out of the corner. For tighter circuits, you might consider making the front springs softer by .02-.04 and using the front end instability to help get the car turned it.

*update 2/3* change to front and rear toe. Car has much better braking and turn in stability and a touch less understeer.

Good old Honda CR-X with a good old B-Series. Can you imagine what these motors would be like if only they could be adapted for FR swaps? I've seen them in Elises and MR-S's before, but imagine one of these in an AE86 (I promise I'm not trolling, 4AG heads,) or an MX-5, or a Cappuccino! That would be awesome!

ha ha, there is another guy on here somewhere from the Nederlands whose tag is Gurney Halleck! What is it with all you Frank Herbert fans?! (One of my favourite books by the way and you should also read Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons - absolute solid gold). Love the look of the Volvo Estate LOL. :)

Thanks! I'll have to meet Gurney, always nice to talk to another Dune fan. Hopefully he won't try to kill me for being a Harkonnen animal! I've actually tried to read some of FH's other stuff, Jesus Incident was OK, but mostly he's just too weird and out there for me. It's funny to think that Dune is his most sane and coherent work.

I agree with you on Hyperion! I was absolutely floored the first time that I read it. IMO the only work of SF that I know of that is comparable in breadth and scope to Dune. Not so sure about the 2 Endymion books though.

Glad you like the Volvo!

You should also check out Alastair Reynolds. He's got some fresh BIG ideas.

Thank mate, will do. We are so on the same page about Endymion - what the **** happened there?! Its one thing to find Buddhism or whatever and have 3 page descriptions of hanging gardens coupled with boring, lame hero/heroine, but contradicting all the great stuff in the first 2 books was unforgivable!!! Thanks for your recommend, I will let you know - and won't hijack your oil shop with any more literary waffle!! :D

Waffle away! You might have noticed I'm not the most serious oil shop. Also, It's always nice to talk to a fellow SF literate!

Ha Ha, cheers. Its the fact that you don't take yourself so seriously is great, plus the cars you have chosen to touch up - some really great classics. I love the old BMW, so happy to see it in the hill climb - even if Usain Bolt could have beaten it to the top. Don't worry, if I want the silk department, I will head to Hami or Praiano - but its great to check out all the tuners like yourself. There are some hidden gems out there! I checked out 'Jack the Ripper's' Aventador tune; he may not be able spell for **** and his serial killer analogies are dodgy at best - but boy, what a tune! And using camber contrary to what everyone, including me thought. My vote for most improved car performance along with some random Delta Wing 13 tune I tried which is also miraculous. I am really pleased you have entered the Shelby 350 - was starting to think she had been forgotten about which would have been a pity. On a final note; Gene Wolf's 'Book of the New Sun' in 2 volumes is just weird enough to be great and is a forgotten, obscure masterpiece IMHO.👍:gtpflag:

TVR Tamora '02

I really, really like the way this car drives. I like it even more than the '65 Alfa GTA. It is so versatile. If you drive it smoothly, it can put in some decent lap times. If you drive it like a hoonigan (which is how it was meant to be driven, screw lap times,) it has some really nice, controllable oversteer. It's a terrible shame that this company went under before we could get any of their wonderfully dangerous machines here in the States. I can only hope that the rumors of their resurrection are true. Fingers crossed...

Also,

PDI, Y U NO LIKE SAGARIS!!!???

Sincerely,

Everyone

Spoon CR-Z

This one rounds out the Spoon road cars. Tepid at best; I really wonder where Honda was going with this car, as it has neither interesting performance nor particularly good fuel economy. What's really alarming is that even Spoon could only do so much with this car. Mugen CR-Z looks cool, but according to PDI it doesn't exist, so I guess we'll never know. At least the handling is nice.

Toyota SUPRA RZ '97 Drag/Wangan Tune

Sometimes you just need to drive something with a stupid amount of power really fast in a straight line. Or do obnoxious brakestands and burnouts. This car is for that purpose. This is my first Wangan/drag car; I think I got the gearing right, left a little room on the top end for drafitng/nos. If you have any suggestions on how to improve it, please let me know, I am new to the discipline.

Update 10/9 updated for new physics. Better traction, smarter gearing.

Daihatsu Cuore/Mira TR-XX Avanzato R '97 & Mitsubishi MINICA DANGAN ZZ '89

I can't get enough of these little Kei cars. There is just something really cool about their little, high revving, high tech turbo engines; and the handling is terrific! IMO they look really cool too. I am offering 2 for 1 on this one because the setups are very similar and because of this classic Top Gear clip which, along with a series of articles in EVO about David Yu's Cappuccino long-termer, sparked my interest in these little machines.

Update 9/20/14 both cars updated for new physics

I think I like this one a little more than the Daihatsu. 10,000rpm is hard to resist, and it's a little bit lighter to boot.

You may have noticed that I haven't tuned any MR cars. That's because they have caused me nothing but :banghead:  thus far. This is the first one that I am comfortable sharing, and only because I learned a few things from studying Hami's excellent NSX seasonal tune.

*Update* change to rear toe. Better stability under braking.
