Everyone who tested the AC Rally game praised its driving but complained that there is too little grip. They also felt it was way too slippery on the rain. Most real rally drivers who have tested RBR have complained that there's too little grip and the brakes in gravel are not good enough (of course in RBR it greatly depends on the mod). Lando Norris who was playtesting and developing F1 2020 Codemasters game said that the car was totally unrealistic to drive with TC 0 and it felt great with medium TC (although real modern F1 cars don't have TC).
All GT3 real drivers say that iRacing and ACC had way too little grip (and/or way unrealisticly slippery kerbs). iRacing actually improved its tyre model and I have unsubscribed a long time ago so I don't know. LMU probably nailed the kerbs though... they actually listened.
I wrote longer about it here:
Those old arcade racers were amazing. And of course I get it... it's all tongue in cheek when we discuss about them.
But I think generally it's crazy how big role nostalgia plays in people's preferred racing games.
There are still people who play GP4 and RF1. I played those games for years and when you get used to certain gameplay, the driving physics it kinda becomes...
It seems that sim racers want more difficult games which they obviously think are "more realistic". If it's not difficult and painfully frustrating enough, it's a "simcade".
It's getting old.
