No issue here with Oasis/G2, not sure how many here are running Pimax.
When working, AC must be looking amazing in a Pimax Light.
Are you able to run ACE?

Reverb G2/Oasis users:
Anyone else had an issue recently with the Steam VR dashboard randomly appearing as an overlay when starting Assetto Corsa in VR?
Seems it can't be minimised with keyboard or controllers, maybe only with Reverb controllers (which i don't have), and I can't figure out why it's started appearing or how to stop it appearing. I tried the logical things in SteamVR settings but it still appears.
Any ideas?

I'm experiencing the same problem with Pimax Crystal Light

Thanks. Might be a Steam issue then, where the VR dashboard ignores instructions not to appear. It's a pain in the ass, it really is. Literally took me half an hour to get rid of it earlier today, involving two complete PC reboots. And I still wasn't sure how I eventually got rid of it.
Or it could be a CSP/CM issue too, I guess? Steam VR seems to start twice occasionally, and I get an error pop-up about only one instance being possible.

I've had it for the last few days, not only in AC. I also seem to have lost the wall with my games on. I just get the stupid dashboard.

I'm using a Meta Quest 3.

Ah, definitely sounds like a Steam problem then, not AC-specific. Thanks.

Edit - possible fix:

Same here, closing and re opening Steam VR make it go away (eventually).
Additionally in my case, a yellow cast appear in the left eyes, same remedy as above.
Happens with any game, not just AC.
Since both Oasis and Steam VR got updated recently, not sure what is at fault.
On a side note, this morning, all was working fine, but I would not be surprised if it behaves again tomorrow.

Not had that yellow cast (and hopefully have not just jinxed things!) but the Steam VR dashboard overlay is a complete pain in the ass due its random manifestation. There doesn't seem to be a set method to avoid it, nor remove it.

No issue here. I usually sleep PC but had to restart after update. Steam updated on first AC boot so expected the worst but nothing here. I have never seen or wanted to see the dashboard which may of helped but probably just lucky i guess.

On a completely different subject, raced your littlebird VW the other week with my overtake pals and had a blast. Nice update 👍

Update to Oasis this morning

Oasis 1.03 hotfix#1

- Prevents severe left-eye distortion/artifact with HP Reverb G2 introduced in SteamVR 2.15.

- Restores the ability to control the dashboard with "laser pointer" when no motion controllers are conected.

I tried adding '- nodashboard' to AC's Steam launch options but it still appeared. :grumpy:

At least now I can get rid of the VR dashboard by pulling the right trigger on my Xbox controller to bring up the view-controlled cusor, look outside of the dashboard boundary, and pulling the right trigger again to make the dashboard disappear.
But it's still a pain in the ass having to do this on every AC launch.

How does Steam, one of the more 'sensible' and user-focused corporations, ever think it was a good idea to force the VR dashboard overlay to start with VR games? Absolutely idiotic.

Glad you had fun with it, that's what kept the motivation flowing during development.
Was that the race at Crystal Palace? If you use the EVO again, try it around the updated Aviano.

Besides I cannot pass the SteamVR screen without activating my VRcontrollers, I get every time this message, when starting my PC. Manually unblock Oases stuff does solve this.

Any change to get WMR and OpenVR toolkit without SteamVR working on the last Win11?

Edit: solved, tip always go to Reddit SteamVR forum for an solution search first.

Yep, that was the one. I like the flow on Aviano, been trying it out with a few cars.
I'll have a word with Colin and get him to plan a race. Maybe you could sign up for it?
Will let you know when it's upcoming

Has anyone found a permanent solution yet to stop the Steam VR dashboard appearing at all?
The good news is that it has not happened to me anymore for a few days, the bad news is that I do not know what I did to make it diseapear.
But at least their is hope.

Hopefully you remember because it's driving me mad..!
All I did, really, was updating Steam VR and Oasis.
The only thing I do differetnly is that I launch Steam VR from Steam instead of letting it launch "automatically" when launching AC.
But I doubt it has any effect on not having the Steam VR dashboard appearing anymore.

Is it possible you have a steam app or game that is making it load the dashboard ?
I have the same headset as you and have NEVER seen the dashboard.
I did unclick the box in settings when I started using Oasis from steam but we used steam before until the open xr toolbox arrived and i never saw it then either.

@Masscot, my experience: you can ask here but you will not get a decent reply, if it get difficult. Go to the SteamVR forum on Reddit or Steam. Btw not a fan of Reddit but my problem was solved with the help of this forum. Maybe @Masscot this link is maybe your solution if not I would advise to post it on Reddit SteamVR forum or at the dedicated Steam forum.

Mate, thank you VERY much!
From your second link, this is what worked:

Ok, my AC still crashed with OpenComposite. Pimax Crystal Light. I have narrowed down what is wrong here. AC crashes with an error related to hand tracking. The OpenComposite log says
Code:
[2026-04-13 11:56:06.113] DrvOpenXR::SetupSession:336 - Started OpenXR session on runtime 'Pimax Crystal Light', hand tracking supported: 1
Which as far as I know is wrong, because the headset doesn't really natively support hand tracking?

It then crashes with this error:
Code:
[2026-04-13 11:56:33.991] BaseInput::BindInputsForSession:760    - OpenXR Call failed, aborting. C:\projects\openovr\OpenOVR\Reimpl\BaseInput.cpp:760 BindInputsForSession. Error code: XR_ERROR_FEATURE_UNSUPPORTED
xr_ext->xrCreateHandTrackerEXT(xr_session.get(), &createInfo, &handTrackers[i])
Anyone know how to fix this? I can't find any way to force OpenComposite to disable hand tracking, neither can I find any way to change what Pimax Play reports.

This may very well be because of some hidden remains of Kneeboard, HTCC or some other stuff, but the only OpenXR layer visible is the Motion Compensation layer, which I also have disabled, just to be sure.

Edit: And when I generally had given up on this, I found a page with older versions of Pimax Play, and I downgraded to v1.43.3.214. That actually fixed the issue! The log now states that hand tracking is NOT supported, and everything seems to work. So, this is probably some kind of bug with Pimax Play v1.43.9.272 and the newest v2.0 as well.

Historic versions of Pimax Play can be found here:

A couple of additional observations:

1. Obviously, enabling upscaling in Pimax Play will cause crashes with CSP 0.3, likely because of the new, integrated upscaling features. So I had two separate issues causing my crashes, which always makes things harder to figure out.

2. Said upscaling features in CSP 0.3 seem to work very well with VR, both FSR and NIS works very well for me.

3. It's difficult to compare, but like others, I am also under the impression that performance isn't quite as good as it used to be. I won't investigate this any further though, I'll rather spend that time optimising for CSP 0.3 and the new upscaling features.

Happy days here!

@jac0 I do hope you are alright as I do not see you posting here anymore. I know you have problems with AC stutters and are using an Q3 + a link cable. I did today found this video, I do hope it can solve your AC stutter problems.

hi , thanks for the video link! I have been quiet here I know... for months now trying to get rid of microstutters, tweaking windows and bios, device firmware etc.
I have been attempting with VD again instead of Link cable, but since i have a fast 6E wifi router , that ethernet device thingy will not improve much I reckon.

A major breakthrough i got was uninstalling old lingering hidden "HID-compliant consumer control device" drivers in Device Manager. This made my "Scan time" (visible in Settings - Assetto Corsa - Controls) to drop from +600ms to -100ms !
Also a rather old Logitech Unifying USB dongle I was using caused quite alot of extra scantime ... without it I am now at a scantime of about 20ms!
As you can imagine that is a world of difference , and gives more responsiveness from my DD wheel when "swerving" or steering.
Everyone should check their scan time and see that is is below at leat 50ms!

But not all my stutter issues are fixed with that, and I am still digging deeper...

What I am now trying to figure out is why my C:\Documents\Assetto Corsa\logs\log.txt shows:
"LOGICAL CPU DETECTED: 0
Multithreading disabled because <4 cores detected
INITIALISING PHYSICS SINGLE THREADED"

I imagine it can also do multithreading and I am stuck for some reason to single core, what also could potentially be a source for stutters.

I am on Custom Shaders Patch, v0.3.0-preview361, and have Win11 AtlasOS , running on a AMD 5950x processor
in assettocorsa\system\cfg\assetto_corsa.ini has
[PHYSICS_THREADING]
THREADS=-1
(also tried setting to a fixed number instead of -1 , but does not fix it)

I am using Process Lasso , and had the game start on fixed affinity (processors 2-15), but also when not setting processor affinity , the log shows the same...

Anyone can confirm they are seeing anything other then "INITIALISING PHYSICS SINGLE THREADED" in their log file?
