I had/have my saturation at 120% but still washed out compared to v1.0. The blue sky (clear day) as an example is very unsaturated - light blue at best, the tires (open wheel cars I was running) are light/medium grey for the most part. Other than this issue v1.1 is running very well but now the AC graphics makes pCARS graphics look even that much better - ran Nordschleife in both sims last night.
Maybe it's my configuration but I didn't' have this before v1.1

I've always felt AC looks a bit washed out, even with various PPF's and saturation at 120%. I've not found a good way to improve it.

What's the general consensus on 'grip levels' in the game ?. Does everyone like to leave the cars on grippy tires with optimum conditions ?, or do people like to throw some variance & extra realism in by putting on street tires & running a mix of green/cold track conditions ?

I've spent some good time with the P1 at the Nordschleife these past couple days, and have observed its behavior when equiped with street tires on varying track conditions. So imagine my reaction when I started watching some Youtube videos of the same car/track combo, and at times feeling like I was watching the car behave in a somewhat 'arcadey' way, too much grip when it should be pushing from a bad entrance, hugging the road like its on rails, and flowing through sketchy sections like its a sunday drive with Miss. Daisy.

I'm trying not to rant like "oh these guys are waaay too fast, AC is broken" or anything, its totally possible I just haven't found the confidence to drive like that (I am respecting speed much more in AC than I ever did in GT), but I am curious as to how other players approach 'grip variables' in this game.

TL;DR - HyperCar Road or HyperCar Trofeo ?, Neither ?, etc.

@Kurei Can you show one of the videos you have been watching? It will help us to answer your question better regarding this, if we know exactly what you are looking it.

When driving just for fun and exploring cars and tracks which is most of my time in AC so far, I usually turn the track grip down a notch and drive on the hardest, oldest tires I can find. When practicing for a race on attempting to get on an RSR leaderboard for example, I use the best of what's available.

Sorry to interrupt all the praises coming through for the highly successful DLC + 1.1 release. :D

Reading the Lamborghini license announcement they made late last year on AC website, it sounds like there might be other DLCs already planned for 2015 apart from Lamborghini and a few other makes. Personally, I'm already pretty satisfied with the amount and the variety of cars already available but really do wish a bit more of officially laser-scanned tracks. Especially something like Monaco, Mount Panorama, Laguna Seca, Brands Hatch, Suzuka, Le Mans, etc.

We have the cars, all we need now is more official laser-scanned tracks. Your thoughts?

Kunos post about realistic conditions for running the Nordschleife http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/i...en-p1-vs-the-ferrari.21657/page-3#post-414628

So indeed, running optimum grip, 26C and trofeo tyres is their equivalent of "beginner mode".

And there are some very decent mod tracks as well. Donington Park, for instance, feels almost identical to the pCARS version.

As time goes by, more scratch built high quality tracks will appear, we can throw away the conversions and use them to fill out AC's stock roster of tracks.

I leave on the default tires, but i put the track conditions on fast and i lower the ambient temp. It's hard enough to keep it on the road that way :)

Whatever the server host has it set to. ;)

Grip levels have a huge effect as do tires obviously. Anyone that complains the cars are too grippy just turn it down a couple of notches and throw on some hard tires and complaints will end:lol:

And even when using soft they're terrible after a few laps. I think they've got tire modelling down pretty good.

I watched so many last night, thus inspiring my post, I doubt I'd find the original one that sparked the thought, however I do recall this one for the lap-time.

It just seems a little too easy for them to be that fast while slightly sketchy, imo. Again it's totally possible I just haven't found the confidence to push the P1 that far yet, I've only been playing for less than a week, and I'm still not happy with my tire pressures, but I digress.

To the others above, thanks for those links, I'll give 'em a read when I'm not on my mobile 👍

Softest tires, optimum grip, turn up the track temperature. On top of that there's no live timing or verification of any sort for the lap time.

You can see that they're running VERY aggressive front camber as well, most likely very low tyre pressures as well. I remember doing my 6:18 on the slightly lower tyre pressure (27 psi I believe, not really sure though) and no camber adjustment.

I'll maybe try to do some more aggressive settings and see where it takes me. :P

What's the general consensus on 'grip levels' in the game ....................

Default temp/track settings are too grippy for my taste with moderate to high downforce cars. .......... which I like to run mostly. So 95% of the time I run 10c Ambient Temp with Track Surface set to "OLD". The other 5%?...well............ let's just say that I'm having a hard time with the Yellowbird......even with settings temp/track set at Optimum..

When you guys say "track temperature", do you really mean "ambient temperature"? I've not seen any options for setting the track temp.

For "Default temp/track settings" I was referring to 1) ambient temperature setting, plus 2) track surface grip setting.

I've always assumed that ambient temperature setting influences track surface temperature so they are one in the same, but I could be wrong. I wonder if ambient temp affects horsepower in the game......or if sunlight vs. fog affects track temperature and thus grip levels.........

I guess I need to read up a bit more on the subject over in the AC Forums:lol:

I figured this is what people mean, but in reality ambient temp and track temp will be different (on a warm, sunny day track temp will be higher than ambient temp, sometimes by many degrees). So, presuming we can only control ambient temp, referring to it as track temp can be confusing.

Seeing as AC doesn't have brake fade, or rubbered in track, or any advanced features like those, I would suspect that ambient temp has doesn't affect horsepowers and sunlight vs. fog won't affect grip levels. Would be nice if they did though. And that's just a guess, I have nothing to support that claim.

Shouldnt the thread name be 1.1 instead of 1.0??

If you set the track to "green" it does rubber in. In an online server you can set up the rate that the track rubbers in as well. Ambient temperature does affect grip I think, or at least RSR Live Timing thinks so, because if you move ambient away from the default 26C, you don't qualify for the "pro" ranking.

I have noticed that using a light cloud overcast seems to improve smoothness, probably because there aren't really any shadows. Same with fog. 👍
