A little fix to VW Scirocco GC10
  • V8 (scirocco_gc10_v8 by Assettogarage),
  • V6 (scirocco_gc10_v6 by unknown)
  • V8 Hillclimb (HillClimb_scirocco_gc10_v8 by Assettogarage, GR.TEAM)
  • V6 Hillclimb (scirocco_gc10_v6_hillclimb_jlr by JLR modding)
FIXES AND ADDONS:
  • CSP wipers
  • skin fix for liveries with FANATEC windshield banner without reflection (the ones with Michelin are OK)
  • cinematic camera before race starts
  • gas and brake driver animations by DigitalVei
  • reverse light
  • turn lights (fake on front, IRL they are above front fender)
  • fixed brake lights
  • high and low beams
  • endurance ambi-light and buttons on stearing wheel light-up with lights on
  • exhausts shake
INSTALLATION NOTES
  • copy the "extension", "ui" and "extension" folders to your car folder.
  • copy the files inside "(copy to each skin folder with FANATEC Windshield banner)" to...

Skin fix doesn't work with V6 Hillclimb. It's made only for the FANATEC banners. It can be applied to also to other version with "scirocco_btcs.kn5" file

The last update you can find it in the previous post (I've rewritten it... it was unreadable even for me).
Now one archive with all my fixes.

Lots of questions remain, such as:
  • do the track owners know that their IP is being appropriated for profit?
  • why must the modder/The Mysterious Keith Carter wait "up to 15 business days for the transactions to take place and settle into the account" before sending out the track links? Backers have acted in good faith, so why can't he? If there's a problem with any of the funds then the door slams shut again?
  • what possible reason could there have been for the statement "if we don't make the goal, unfortunately I don't believe the mod will ever be released"? What, the $2k+ investment was needed to pay for staff or resources to finish the project?
  • how can the backers not feel conned when a track they desperately want gets teased in YouTube videos, then hidden behind a massive paywall when its popularity becomes apparent, with threats that if the ransom isn't met then the track won't ever be released?
  • just who is this mysterious Keith Carter, what are his links to the modder, and did they cook up this scheme between them? Because "The developer dedicated countless hours — entirely unpaid — to bring this vision to life. I believe it’s only right that we, as sim racers and fans, give back and show our appreciation for this work. Our goal is to raise $2,150 (including Indiegogo’s fee) so we can make a direct donation to the developer as thanks for his time, skill, and dedication" is NOT how the crowdfunding was set up. It was not "appreciation for his work" and rewarding him for releasing a track, it was to pay a large ransom in advance so the track would actually be released.

At best, this was misguided. At worst, it was a con.
It's a con. They were more than $1K short hours before the deadline - and indiegogo would have returned all the money if that wasn't met. Come on. Plain as day.

Fools and their money.

Obviously I've lost all respect for Slip Angle Modding (ohyeah2486 or whatever) - this is a very bad look even on the minuscule chance he's not involved. The fact that I can't find any statement from him on RaceDepartment or elsewhere over thousands of "backer" dollars speaks volumes.

I've unsubbed from his projects and don't intend to engage with him again. What an absolute sleaze pit AC modding can be.

You'd rather think the decent thing would be to just release it publicly now.

It very well might not be that but I’m choosing to believe the more cynical option that this crowdfunding thing was started by the track creator himself and he posed as this guy asking for donations so he could scam people using this track he never intended on releasing publicly as bait.

The language surrounding the “payment has to clear or else” is just way too fishy to believe anything with more pure intentions imo.

At the very least Keith is a third party scamming people using the track and has no actual communication from the track modder.

At least with Tomsim you could still actually get his stuff even though he quit because he was in it for the money and didn’t get the donations he expected. You’d have to be pretty desperate for this track to want to donate to this Keith’s scheme.

@Quark67
I had made a bunch of skins for that mod a couple of years ago, there still on my Mega account if you are interested?

I don't have them on my new pc, but I still have the ssd containing all those old mods. I think I had about 50 skins. Made for fun racing on tracks like Sachsenring and Horsma.

A fun one-make car with a ton of skins to play with? omg yes please

Holy mother of God

Came across this the other day, the superhive place its for sale on offers very little in explanation of what you get and how to use it so it put me off, its about 30 quid and there is a basic for 12 quid and a free one, but don't bother, its not even a demo.
It doesn't say what the 12 quid one gives you compared to the 35 quid one, I'm guessing the 35 quid one is the only one worth getting.
I am so cynical and don't trust anyone enough, but its even worse when there is a section for 'documentation' and its blank, why not mention 'full instructions on purchase', maybe there is, but why would you not say that.

A little help from all the bright and dedicated people.

I'm trying to add the (goodwood?) trackside announcer to ks_monza66 to add additional immersion.

I've got as far as importing the files from the excellent rouen_f3ct.

The ext_config.ini - the line I'm stuck on (I think) is where AC plays the file, which would be the player pit position, the "POSITION" in the following.

; Track sounds
[SOUNDBANK_0]
BANK = sfx/goodwood.bank
GUIDS = sfx/GUIDs.txt

[EVENT_0]
ID = racetrack/new_announcer
REVERB_RESPONSE = 0
POSITION = 349.36,32.93,-358.14
DIRECTION = 0, 0, 1
VOLUME = 4
CAMERA_INTERIOR_MULT = 1
CAMERA_EXTERIOR_MULT = 1
CAMERA_TRACK_MULT = 1

Q. I can't seem to easily locate the coordinate for this location - is there an easy way to find it?

Always with thanks in advance. If I'm a million miles off, let me know.

Use Object Inspector to get the coordinates.
