I haven't played AC Rally since it first released to early access, as I found it absolutely horrible with a controller back then. It was super laggy at responding to inputs, so the car was really floaty and horrible, and carried on steering for considerable time after you'd centred the stick.

I saw that there were a lot of physics changes in 0.5, so gave it another try, and wow, the game is now completely sorted with a controller. The physics now feels a lot like AC Evo felt before they completely messed it up in a recent major release. I had a lot of fun today getting my time down on one of the routes, and was easily able to achieve gold, whereas at the start of early access that seemed completely impossible with the horribly unresponsive cars. The game is now, IMO, a great buy for controller users.

It's also spectacular on a wheel. The FFB was all but non-existent before this update, but now it's fantastic.

As expected, this update transforms the game

This is encouraging to read. I know we are still a long way from console release, but reading this is viable for controller play is a huge positive.

Once you get the settings right ACC is hugely satisfying to play on controller, if they could get ACR right out of the box that would be fantastic.

Tentatively firing up my rig for the first time in weeks due to a (still ongoing ) broken toe, having to kinda have half my foot overhanging the throttle pedal ( thank cantona it was my right foot and not my braking foot) and oh my, update 0.5 is actually a revelation, the new physics and tire modelling is so far away from when this sim launched it’s like a totally different game, Greece is a riot, despite never having been impressed with any iteration in any other rally games.
I have absolutely zero doubt that this will be the rally sim that all others are judged by.

Couldn't agree more. That could just add a bunch of content from here and it would be the best rally sim ever. The graphics, performance, physics, sound and FFB are all fantastic

Multiplayer is fantastic fun, way better than I thought it would be..had some superb races around the same people for a few stages as no one seemed to leave and it was brilliant, not bad for a first attempt

Really enjoying the Greek stages, the updated physics and FFB are also superb and it all feels just that bit more natural.

I was playing this seriously for the first time since the first release.

Yeah I love RBR but as an overall experience I think ACR beats it already. It's getting better all the time and the handling and FFB felt better than when I initially tested it. I haven't really followed what has been updated but it drives better now (or am I just dreaming)?

The passion of the dev team really shows. That Fiat Abarth was a blast to drive.
