Audi, BMW or Mercedes?

On the whole, which of these 3 is your favourite and which is your least favourite?

While I like all 3, I would say Audi is my favourite and BMW my least, although the C63 AMG is my favourite 4-door car in the game.

AUDI, truth in engineering... I have owned 4 in a row now (irl), and plan on many more years of driving the four rings. I do like older BMW's but the new ones lack something, although they are getting better looking again. Merc's are too stodgy for me short of maybe some of the AMG models, but now we're up over a $100,000. I'll keep my twin turbo A6...

BMW all the way. Audi's are okay but I wouldn't touch a Merc with a barge-pole.

I loved my Audi, it was comfortable and fun to drive.
Mercedes is my current drive.
Every test drive in a BMW made me decide against it.

My ranking:
1) BMW the sport comes first in it. (But missing a real headliner like the SLS AMG though). The M3 GTR Race car in GT5, got to love it.
2) Mercedes, although the cars are too heavy most of the time, I love the control over the car you get (IRL that is). SLS AMG in GT5 is a blast.
3) Audi, although I love them as daily drivers, the steering does have the indirect feeling Top Gear hates. The R8 is probably an exception on this and scores high in my favorites in GT5.

Merc, BMW and lastly Audi. I have no interest in understeering 4wd cars which audis seem to be nowadays with their engine so far up front but the original Quattro group B monster does turn my wheels. New cars in general are uglier than older ones and the same goes with merc and bmw. Older mercs (racing or not, the 190e 2.5 16 is fantastic but older normal roadcars (w123 for example)) are really beautiful and so are relatively old bmws (e30, e36, e39) but the newer ones don't excite me.

I have a special hatred towards the Audi R8 road car (not the lmp racer). It feels like they robbed lamborghini and put the mechanics in an uglier body (especially the v10).

In LMP Audi is fine though and I enjoyed seeing them win this year.

1). BMW - Because of the handling and my Dad loves them so I do as well.
2). Audi - I like the heritage of 4WD and the 9 victories at Le Mans.
3). Mercedes - I don't hate them but they seem always a little old, they don't have anything that makes them special, and the A and B classes are a disgrace!

Audi apparantly stands for Always Underwhelming Driving Impressions which probably rings true in GT5 as well apart from cars like the R8 and R10TDI (where the engines aren't fitted between the headlights), really want to love the RS6 Avant but that thing understeers like hell despite all my efforts to change the set up.

BMW (at least the Premium selection) is a bit underrepresented in GT5 in my opinion, would love a Premium 2002 Turbo and a 507 (to compete against the '54 300SL) for example as well as some current and classic racers.

Mercedes-Benz probably has the most interesting (Premium) line up in GT5 for me at least although my favoutite Mercs aren't included (things like a 450SEL 6.9 or 'Pagoda' SL or the rotary-engined C-prototypes).

And I would love more Diesel roadcars from all 3 manufacturers.

The BMWs drive amazingly well in GT5, and I'm sure they probably do in the real world. However, after having sat in various BMWs over the years, I can safely say I'd burn my money on an Audi. At least in an Audi I'd be able to get behind the wheel. With my 34-36" inside leg, a 3 Series cockpit is a cramped place to be

And as for Mercedes ... they make vans don't they..?? Pah...

In the game, Audi Merc BMW. The Audi design approach seems the most aggressive whilst Merc and BMW try too hard to please corporate bigwigs.

IRL, I hate all of them and don't think I could ever buy one! This may only apply to the UK (I hope so) but 99% of their drivers feel like they own the road and live primarily just to annoy anyone else feeling that in also owning a car, they can use THEIR tarmac. Undertaking, cutting you up, flashing their lights at you to remind you they are driving behind you (also known as GET OFF MY ROAD JERK), jumping any queue, making the most of emergency services to pass people, ANYTHING else that will see them reach their destination 10 seconds quicker.

And I don't want to be associated in that group

I'm a lover of true drivers' cars, so it's BMW for me. Front engine, rear drive, beautifully engineered chassis. The latest model M3 coupe is a great looking car too.

Audis (along with most 4WD cars) are decidedly uninspiring to drive, and I have a bit of a problem with their image (all the cocks have recently migrated from BMW to Audi as well).

Mercs aren't far behind BMW in driving, although also have a slight image issue (and the only two decent Merc drivers in the world that come to mind are one N. Rosberg and one G. Paffett. The rest are floppy idiots). Not the best looking cars either, and I detest AMG's obsession with not only unnecessarily large engines, but also turbocharging said engines.

BMW > Mercedes > Audi, in the game and real life.

BMW's are the best to drive overall... I don't think they make a bad car to drive (though some like the X6 are a bit suspect styling and purpose wise). Mercedes a close 2nd and in some classes better (IMO, S Class > 7 series for example).

Audi, hmmmm, great interiors and build quality, but that's all you can say positively about them with the exception of the R8 and last generation RS4.

Other than those 2, they just aren't in the same league to drive when compared to BMW and Mercedes... rubbish steering, over servoed brakes, no suspension compliance and permanent understeer whatever you do to try and avoid it. Plus they all look like slightly bigger or smaller versions of exactly the same car.

The only cars I really like from Audi are the LMP R8 and the road car R8. I also like their touring cars too, but that's about it.
