I'm a fan of the Aussie product through and through, but I still think that there are far too many cars that have been ignored (or simply cannot be licensed) by PD on a more historical scale. The Ford Sierra, the Jaguar XK120, the '64 Ford Mustang, the Phase III GTHO...

Australia's population really has nothing to do with the calibre of our cars, and neither does the whole sales game. If that were the case, there'd be no Volvos, LOL.

Seriously though, I really don't think it's fair to blame it solely on Kaz or PD. Ford Australia may not see any value in licensing the product to Sony, Holden likewise.

There are no Porsches in the game, there is no Spa circuit, there is no Stelvio pass. I don't think the lack of Aussie iron is a deliberate slight on behalf of Sony. Their official website has a dedicated NZ/Australian forum for GT, so for such a small country, we count for something.

Just on that, I spoke to a magazine editor at the Sydney Motor Show who was taking part in that GT5 endurance race and he said he spoke to KY at a game show in Japan.

He said he asked him if Bathurst would be included and KY said he was aware of the race and of Australian cars, but neither were well known enough in Japan or around the world.

So I think PD definitely had a fair influence on the inclusion of lack of Australian content.

But yeah Australian cars are not the only thing left out. How could they only include one Aston Martin for instance? They are obviously licensed to include their cars and yet we only got the DB9 as a premium

Me too 👎. In fact, so much about this game makes me sad that I hope Turn 10 include bathurst then I will just buy an Xbox instead.

They have the rights to V8 Supercars so who knows maybe they will see the light and get the rights to Bathurst as well.

It will be in Shift 2 but from the trailers it looks like a pretty poor rendition

Well even if Turn 10 includes Bathurst, it still won't be enough to make me buy an Xbox.

As for Shift 2 well I ain't even touching that.

I'm not that dissappointed in GT5, I agree there's alot of things that the PD could improve and there's alot of things that just make no sense at all.(Not being able to pause B-Spec springs to mind)

But I'm happy with the final product, there's enough there to keep me coming back to it.
 
Sure there's plenty there to keep you occupied, but after the amount of time and money that went into I should be saying this is the best game ever made and I will still be playing it when GT6 comes out.

I loved GT4, but after about a year all I did was do time trials at the Nordschleife because the rest of the game had worn thin.

Sadly, its only been 2 months with GT5 and I'm already at that point. Had they developed a descent AI system, the game's lifespan would have been much longer.

Funnily enough, I really enjoyed racing the AI in Prologue. Not sure what they changed for the final game but its not good...
 
Hi everyone, another Aussie hoping for some more content, surely they could get Bathurst and a couple of V8 Supercars in the game. I mean last year we had an F1, CART, IndyCar, BTCC Champs racing in the series along with multiple other O/S racing drivers - surely there is some O/S interest?

Hmmm didn't think of that, maybe I should do the same. I stumbled across a few Forza screenshots of people who have replicated the original livery and they looked awesome. If only we could do the same...

But yeah Love the beast is an awesome doco/movie. Pretty sure Bana is rebuilding the car too. Hope to see it again.

It's funny you know, I've never had Fosters overseas, but we don't really drink it in Australia.

But to answer your question, yes that counts 👍
 
I think, I'm very un-Australian as I don't drink.

But another vote for those four cars.👍

(Especially the 24 hour Monaro :drool: )
 
Did you ever see that car race? I saw a Nations Cup race at Wakefield park the year they ran two cars (red and yellow) and I have never heard a better sound.

For those who haven't heard it, turn your speakers up! Possibly the best finish to a 24 hour race ever

You're right, it is being rebuilt by a top panel beater in Queensland. I can't remember the name, I'd have to go searching in another forum where they had a thread about it.

Just a heads up, the Bathurst 12 hour is on this weekend and they are racing GT cars this year! I think they are only doing a 2 hour segment on One HD but they are streaming the race live on the net.

Can't wait to see the Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis etc. racing
