G'day from Melbourne, Victoria :)

Some pretty strange weather down here..

Well you know what they say...

"Melbourne. If you don't like the weather... Wait a minute."

As for Aussie Sports/Super Cars...
Elfin is nice, sorta channeling a mix between TVR and Caterham. http://www.elfin.com.au
Joss is sexy, feels to me like a Bugatti EB110. http://www.joss.com.au/
...and then Cabontech (which only made the Redback Spyder), I don't like it, but it's Aussie Supercar nonetheless. http://www.carbontech.com.au

I'm not an Aussie but I'd definitely like some more Australian cars in the game, particularly the older Fords and Holdens

Tops thread! I feel like a lot of car manufacturers and race promoters miss the product placement opportunity in GT.

It seems that vehicle and track content is sourced from the manufactures that Kaz has access to, or relationships with. If I was a manufacturer, I'd be approaching Polyphony asking (or paying) to have my vehicles modeled and placed in the game.

Similarly, as a race track owner/promoter, I would be making the track readily available, waiving any associates royalties and contributing to travel costs where required.

There are some races that attract world attention, even without following the rest of the series. Both the Indy & Daytona 500's are examples. Using GT to raise awareness of Bathurst as a track, would likely result in the great race getting greater international recognition, therefore greater TV rights ($$$s).

Aussie cars and tracks (Bathurst & the island) are in a long queue of content that deserves inclusion. I just wish someone had tried to buy our way up that list...

G'Day from Sydney.

DLC OZ track => Bathurst;
DLC OZ V8 Supercars => FPV & HSV
DLC Endurance Event => Bathurst 1000
Bathurst 1000 Prize Car => Peter Brock 05 Mobil Commodore (RIP Brocky, long live King of The Mountain)

Also....

DLC OZ track => Albert Park F1 GP;
DLC F1 => Red Bull RB6

Onegai shimasu, Domo Arigato Kazunori-san & PD.

Winfield GT-R? Obviously a Japanese car but developed in Australia and probably the fastest R32 race car in the world at the time. So fast in fact that Nismo wouldn't allow Gibson Motorsport to export their products to Japan purely because their car was more powerful than anything they were offering.

Changed the face of Australian touring car racing and brought about the name "Godzilla" (albeit the road going version, but the hype around the race car contributed to its reputation).

Definitely worth scrapping five Miatas for this car to be included

I've thought long and hard about this issue and there is no way the Winfield GT-R would ever be included in a game from the manufacturer. The reason? Tobacco sponsorship. That's why I suggested back in my first post in this thread that I'd like to see the 1991 Gibson Motorsport GT-R in here because it has none of the offending tobacco branding.

It's the same reason I suggested any Australian RS500 be something like Dick Johnson's (Shell), Allan Moffat's Cenovis cars or even Colin Bond's Caltex car because Glenn Seton's car was sponsored by Peter Jackson and Tony Longhurst's by Benson & Hedges. The same problem is faced if any E30 M3 touring cars are ever included - they'd have to be the Schnitzer cars from Europe rather than any Aussie versions - we had John Player Special and Benson & Hedges sponsorship on ours.

I was desperately hoping for a livery editor in this game so I could buy the #12 Calsonic Group A GT-R and paint it up into the 1990, 1991 and 1992 Gibson Motorsport cars. Alas, thwarted by PD!

With the general car awareness the GT series engenders, I'd have thought manufacturers would have been providing CAD data to PD to reproduce their cars. What better way to get free advertising to the next generation (and current generation) of car buyers?

That's an interesting point, I'd never thought of that. I've been trying to think whether any other GT cars sport cigarette branding but none spring to mind.

You're right though, they should just include the 1991 spec Gibson GT-R. Even though it doesn't look as cool its pretty similar mechanically

The '91 car would probably be better as it had a larger air restrictor and was about 200kg lighter than the '92 car

Echuca, what a coincidence, one of my friends is down there now, lol. Know anyone named Nick? (Though I'd assume coincidentally you might)

It's really easy to find. I've seen it about 5 times, bought it once and use it for drifting. I'm waiting for the Falcon. That, and the Formula Gran Turismo car.

cant believe you guys have 5 million cr for that formula GT car... i am like level 20 a spec, lvl 27 b spec and i dont even have that!

I am still waiting for the Monaro (or any aussie car) but today I did see the Pontiac GTO for the first time.

As its based on the Monaro I purchased it right away - took it to the Top Gear test track and immediately burned ungodly amounts of rubber - plenty of smoke everywhere - it was great. Shame about the grill.

Would be great to get at least a couple of V8 Supercar spec Ford's & Holdens, some dealer sold versions would be great too, HSV & FPV's :)

Also would like to see a Ford ST150 aka XR4 in the game please!

Gold Coast here. How awesome would be if they had the HSV Ute. It would own.

So far I only got the Monaro, yet to see SS in the used car lot. lvl 13 :(

The reason there are very few Aussie cars in the game is that they have yet to implement a "vehicle constantly breaks down" feature into GT5.

The rarest Aussie car I have ever seen was a Ford Falcon that wasn't on the back of a tow truck!!

lol

Nigel here. Near Ballina NSW Some good ideas going on hope we get some progress.

This doesn't make sense, they've got Peugot and Renault in the game. They've got all the French cars, actually.

You're living in the 80's still buddy if you think Holden/Ford have anywhere near the build quality of those 2 French car manufacturers…..
