Hey, How do you play GT3? Auto ot Manual? I used to play auto but now I find it more fun to play manual. But only on road courses. Its WAY too hard to play Mannual on dirt. Eh.

Rally Races-Automatic
Road Races-Manual
Endurance Races-Automatic

Just depends what kind of race your doin. To me, if the tracks are short with many turns I will use Manual since it is the best for cornering acceleration. But if it is a track such as the Max Speed Test Course then I will use Automatic.

ALWAYS manual. Today, for the first time I drove AUTO in the GT series. My fingers were moving faster than the screen when I was going into a race and I chose it accidentially. I was driving the F094. I hated it. Also, since they do so well with the cars themselves, and even go into detail on the descriptions enough to tell about the option of an auto, and what kind, I think they should make those what is available in the AT mode. IE-if it says a 4spd automatic is available in that model lineup, that's what I think you should get. Not a tiptronic-like 5-6spd. That would be more realistic and might give some people some incentive to learn MT. Also, it'd be cool if you chose the auto, if you could upgrade it. IE-torque converter upgrade, coolers, recalibrations, shift kits etc. I think all upper-model racing games should follow the thing i just said about 4spd's etc.

I said something similar to this in a thread at the GT4 forum. I agree. It would be a lot more realistic. It could also give more exclusiveness to the more exotic cars. For instance, the Tuscan Speed 6 only comes with a 6 speed manual in real life. So if it were like that in the game, then beginners would tend to shy away from cars like this because they don't know how to drive a manual.

Right now, just auto, considering I would suck with a manual. Im gonna learn it one day, though...

I think that would make the game too hard...Games do need to be playable for everyone

If you use Automatic,Pushing R2 or L2 than the car willnot change the gear when it necessary until you don't pushing it!(My English is not very good.)

Me = Automatic 85% Mannual = 15%
Brother Automatic 0.01% Mannual 99.99%

Mannual is good when you want to muck about and better for slow cars.

Ok then, maybe make it optional. Have it equal a certain percentage of the available 100% win status. I'd be willing to bet most people don't buy the game and actually beat everything anyways, so it would be just another little chunk of fun for the hardcore guys.
peace,

Let me restate my post, I can drive manuel, but I'm not great at it. Im going to start to seriously use it in races soon, though.

Hello...

I think !
Manual That is the only right way !!!

I'am a GT-3 Maniac !!!

I'm have build for my, a Servo-controlled Direct-Gear Shifting System ( For Gran Turismo 3 / Playstation 2 )

Whif this item , I can change gears, direct to any wished Gear whif one touch ( Such as a authentic Car ! )

It dont Shift direct in the Software !

It Shift self-controlled to the wished Gear ,
whif the up and down Push Buttons circuit 's from the Joystick or any Wheel.

The Servo close the up and down Push Buttons circuit 's
so often, up to the wished Gear.

Sorry my English is not the best but I'm work on it !

If You like, more details on my Hompage :

Hey man, welcome aboard, and two   to your adapted shifting mechanism!!! I've been thinking of doing somthing like that for a while now, but have always been too poor and lazy to try it. Good work :)
peace,

manual has good cornering acceleration since you can choose a gear that has a high rpm while your making the turn so you accelerate faster and the acceleration on straits is a little better.

I just play with the Auto Tranny.
1. consistancy
2. sometime get caught either going too fast, or too slow into Hairpins. Either way, the AI cars catch up, and take the lead.
3. Slow too much, and end up having to start from 1st gear.
4. Just not fast enough to up shift and down shift.

Always auto in every GT...I just never could get used to trying to shift with a controller. It's kinda funny since I've driven manual cars for the last 6 or 7 years and I can't stand "driving" an automatic. ;)
