I think the autosave is freakin' great. Yeah when you leave an event it takes a few extra seconds, but i do so much in the game it is nice it autosaves for me so i dont forget that i didn't save and lose three cars or something. Why is anyone complaining about this? You can turn it off if it bothers you, does no one look at the options screen anymore?

WTF is the point of this thread? You can turn autosave off and not worry about saving unless you tell it to.

So wtf is the point of a thread like this?

Have you played GT4? You cannot turn 'autosave off', the closest you can get is autosaving only when you change cars. The autosave doesn't bother me at all, if I need another car or fresh upgrades it's back to the races.

Can you test ride a car before you buy it like in real life?

The game trys to prevent you from testing cars, but if you have 2 memory cards you can. In the PS2 browser copy your save game to memory card 2, then start the game on it, buy and test cars, then when you are done, put memory card 1 back in and reset so it loads the save that you had before you bought the cars. You have to reset because there is no "load game" anywhere in the game.

for some reason, I can't seem to save the game after a race during a championship series

does that mean I have to finish off the whole championship series in one shot? or am I missing something completely?

so say for example I'm finished race 3 of a 5 race series

so after my 3rd race is complete, I just leave the championship, and then head back out to home to save? then the next time I load up GT4, I can continue where i left off at race 4?

do I have this correct?

I bought the game when it came out last week (PAL-version) and it clearly says on the box:

Memory Card (8MB) (for Playstation®2) required for playing GT Mode.

You can enter the Arcade mode without a memorycard, but not the GT Mode. So my guess is the GT Mode has grown so big, they couldn't do it another way then to use autosave.

Just my two cents. :)

Ok, I found a way to test-drive a car without losing your precious money. :)

First turn off autosave. (Yes, so you're stuck with the restricted one)

Buy a car (new or used, it doesnt matter), but do not get in. If the game asks if you want use the car, select the option NO. You see the words processing. This is not the same as SAVING. The game will process WITHOUT saving. But the car is still in your garage. 💡

Next thing, you exit GT Mode. The game still doesn't save. :dopey: Then go to the arcade mode, select one of the options (for example time trial) then go to the manufacturer and there's your car. You can drive it on the tracks that you have unlocked already. If you don't like the car, you just reset the game and the next time it loads the situation before you bought the car, so no loss of money. :)

The only thing is you can only test-drive the car in it's stock form, because if you want to tune it, you still have to get into the car and there the autosave kicks in.

Great work!

I personally don't care about spending virtual bucks on cars that I might not like-- I can always earn more money-- but this should help out the people who really love to test-drive their rides.
