Hi,
I've seen this term a few times, AYC, but never got curious to know what was it. So, the questions are: what is it, what it does? If you remember, give an example of a car that has it.
Thanks guys!

It stands for Automatic Yaw Control. Yaw is rotation around a vertical axis, I.E. steering. Supposedly a few of the Japanese-spec Evos have it called "AYC". However, many manufacturers feature "stability control" of some form or another; just called different things. Typically they are systems that apply brakes unequally in order to reduce the chance of oversteer.

The "AYC" that the Evo has is linked in with its "ACD" to give it more control over what the car is doing. The yaw control computer takes in things like speed, steering angle, throttle position, yaw angle, and such to determine what the car is doing. But, more importantly, it tries to figure out what the car SHOULD be doing. Then, it will tell the ACD, or Active Center Differential, to send power front or rear to the wheel that needs it more, and the AYC will send the power left or right in the rear to get the car around the corner. Its basically just a big mess of computers and differentials that help get the car around a corner better.

Exactly..

But not just front and rear - but also which wheel, left or right, either needs, or has too much, power.....

I did say that. The ACD sends power front to rear, and the AYC sends it left and right in the rear. The front is just a standard LSD.

Dammit.. Sorry...

That'll teach me (again) to read EVERYTHING instead of skimming through...
