Team Pezzarinho Press Statements

Perry Brown:
"Obviously a very good start to this weekend, but we know McGill Racing are hiding laptime in a low downforce setup. They will definitely feature within the remainder of the weekend and we just hope that the work we have done today is the difference that puts us ahead."

Fernando Alonso:
"For sure the team were all very unhappy leaving Australia, we left a lot of work to do over the rest of the championship. We've fought back here and hopefully can take the pole and win this weekend."

McGill racing statement

We are not sandbagging as some might think. We got the setup wrong so we have to do some amendments before the race.

Team Pezzarinho Charges to Pole Position in China

Shanghai, China (AP)

No surprise who was on pole in China, but plenty of surprises throughout the field. Bottas is buried in 14th, and Allstar Racing seems poised to become the traditional FBS power team again. James Hinchcliffe gave Ford-Cosworth its best starting position of the young season, qualifying 5th on the grid. The Ford representatives at the track expressed relief to not see all their cars at the bottom of the time sheets.

Every qualifying session it seems traffic really ruins someone's effort, and this week Takuma Sato was in the bullseye. On his first run Daniel Suarez ruined the car's hot lap. The team called the car to the pits and returned to the course a few minutes later, only to be held up again by Franck Montagny. Sato settled for 11th on the grid after turning the 2nd fastest time in practice.

Simona de Silvestro also was victimized by traffic on her first run, but was unable to improve after coming out later in the session.

Qualifying in FBS is a frantic, fast paced 20 minute shootout where anything can happen, and qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix was proof of that. Now its up to the teams to make the right call on strategy to either preserve their starting position or put themselves in position to overtake cars on the track or in the pits.

EH Team RT heavily impressed with Hinchcliffe's performance.

"We came into the season a bit on the back foot knowing the Cosworth power was lacking compared to the Fezzas and the Mercs. We really liked the lighter chassis however and that is starting to come into play. Of course James has to be able to drive the car properly, and we still require some work in that area but progress is being made. We actually left the qualifying setup the same as practice so he could get a more comfortable lap in knowing how the car would be reacting and clearly it paid off big time. We're as close to the lead as we've ever been in any session so that feels really good."

Team Pezzarinho Press Statements

Perry Brown:
"Obviously very happy with todays results, but also very surprised. For various reasons our rivals seem to have struck issues here, but it is important that we run our own race tomorrow and claim the win."

Fernando Alonso:
"Todays result feels very good. Our single lap performance is very strong, so we just need a good start to the race, a good strategy and to keep calm. We feel very confident."

Haruna Tsuchigami Upset at Jahgee GP after Shanghai
Tsuchigami no Kyojin team principal finds Jahgee GP 'an annoyance already', upset at team's general approach to Formula B-Spec in current season

After Tsuchigami driver Takuma Sato was held up in qualifying by Daniel Suarez of Jahgee GP in yesterday's qualifying session, the atmosphere in the Osaka-based team became significantly more bitter as both team principal Haruna Tsuchigami and race engineer Stefano di Fiorano expressed their annoyances with their American-based rival. "There is a very strong contrast between wearing a maid costume to every race meeting, and deliberately parking it on the apexes to key corners when someone's behind you," Tsuchigami stated. "The former might look cute depending on who it is. The latter will cause rivals to want to, if not actually punch you in the face," she added.

Normally wouldn't be this upset

"I always look at everything in perspective. But to see a potential front-running car start so far down the field because some guy who has more yen than sense as a Team Principal wants his driver to be a rolling road block for amusement is extremely upsetting," states di Fiorano. "I have never seen a more disgraceful effort in GP racing since that one story about Andrea Moda in the 90's. These guys are a genuine safety issue and need disciplining if they are to remain welcome in FBS."

Uh oh.

Knew it would happen eventually

Thunderstorm rolled in and blipped the power. Lost the race.

I'll have to look through the replay and find the latest results and use that to determine the finishing order.

We'll simply say a thunderstorm rolled through the track and the race was red flagged and not restarted.

Alonso Wins Shortened Chinese GP

Shanghai, China (AP)

Shortly after halfway at the Chinese Grand Prix the sky opened up and the race course became a shallow river. Organizers called off the event and reverted the results to the last known standings. Excessive precipitation resulted in damage to the timing systems where most of the data was lost.

Alonso's early dominance threatened to make the race a bit dull, but thankfully the racing midpack was intense. Something of a rivalry grew between Bottas and Sato. The two drivers had very different cars - Bottas was 50kph quicker on the straights and Sato was much quicker in the corners. The two drivers would pass eachother up to twice a lap. Eventually the passes resulted in more and more contact with such behavior slowing both drivers down.

Juan Montoya ran strong all day and finished 6th, earning Starion Motorsports a World Championship point.

The fastest Ford belonged to James Hinchcliffe who came home 4th. The sudden improvement by the Ford-Cosworth teams gives hope the championship can be a four way fight between all the engine makes.

Livery Competition Results

Okuma Motorsports and Tsuchigami no Kyojin tied for 1st place in the livery competition with 14 points each. As a result, both painters will receive 1.5m credits towards their team. Allstar Racing finished 3rd. The team will receive .75m credits. Tsukuyomi Racing Project finished 4th in the voting.

Well that was a terrible result for us and we couldn't get a good enough setup other than a car fast enough to break the sound barrier on the long straight. Congratulations to Team Pezzarinho on winning the shortened race.

+ Significant work has been done with the Bridgestone tires to improve the strategy possibilities for each team and the quality of the racing. Now each Grand Prix will feature a tire wear gauge. The following are possible.

Tire Wear
  • Lowest
  • Low
  • Medium
  • High
  • Highest
For Bahrain, the tire wear is rated as HIGH.

+ 2 new setups max per race weekend has been rescinded.

+ A 5 grid spot penalty for the following Grand Prix will be given to cars that cause avoidable contact. Avoidable contact includes causing a collision that results in damage to the innocent party, or causing the innocent party to spin out or lose a significant amount of time. If such contact occurs during the final race a 30 second post race penalty will be given out. Such incidents will be investigated after the race in order to make the correct judgement.

Perry Brown:
"An outstanding result for us today, well deserved win I think and just utterly dominant showing by Fernando. I don't expect we'll enjoy such an advantage over the competition again so it feels great to capitilise and claim a strong victory. A shame the race ended early because there were some interesting fights behind us!"

Fernando Alonso:
"For me, I am of course happy and thank the team for giving me this car to be out front. I just hope in the future that races are not so boring, I want to be racing and fighting as much as the fans want to watch the fight. Now we focus on building a Championship lead."

Team Pezzarinho is out front again, but the rest of the field appears to have closed the gap. McGill Racing rebounded from an abysmal showing in China to finish the session 3rd.

The Canadian EH Team continues it's strong performance, finishing 4th on the time sheets. Bahrain is a horsepower track, and as expected the Honda teams seem to be struggling to find pace. Sebastien Ogier has finished 2nd in both races so far this season but finished the session mid-pack in 8th place.

Sara Hockenheim was closest to Alonso, half a second adrift of the pace setting former Champions. This is as close to Team Pezzarinho anybody has been since Australia.

Alonso Fends off Early Challenge from Bottas to Win Bahrain

ZOchweb.jpg

Race Recap

Going into the first corner Valterri Bottas managed to get around Alonso and take the lead of the race. Several laps later Alonso got around Bottas. A few laps after that Alonso made a mistake allowing Bottas to slip through back into the lead. But it wasnt long before Alonso passed Bottas again for the lead, this time for good.

Sara Hockenheim shadows Bottas for most of the race and was within a couple of seconds of the Fin with the race winding down. Bottas was held up by the lapped car of Ronnie Quintarelli which allowed Hockenheim to close the gap rapidly. In a stunning move Hockenheim passed Quintarelli and Bottas on the front straight.

Early in the race Sebastien Ogier and Takuma Sato were in a tight battle for 4th position. However, after the first pitstop Sato lost alot of ground to Ogier for an unknown reason. This proved to be the deciding factor in the battle for 4th place.

James Hinchcliffe rebounded from qualifying 11th to finish 6th. One can only wonder "what if" had not the leading Ford team struggled in qualifying.

On a hot day with the track and air temperature soaring, tire wear proved to be a large factor in the race with the 1 stop teams finding themselves slipping back in the order as the race progressed. Scuderia Rabia Furiosa intended to run a 2 stop strategy, but FBS was only able to supply the team with enough tires for a 1 stop strategy. To make up for this error FBS will pay Scuderia Rabia Furiosa 1,000,000cr.

In other news, Motorsport Team Principals will announce 2017 plans tomorrow. Teams will not receive their credit payout until that information has been posted as it is essential in helping them understand how they should manage their resources.

MTP 2017 Events

The purpose of this information is to help teams understand what is coming next. This way they can attribute funds appropriately. To enter 3 cars in these events you will need at least 6 drivers. Depending on the quality of driver, that can be very expensive. So its important teams decide now whether to build their team with credits or start spending it on drivers. After FBS there will be no more MTP events in 2016.

These are the only events I am committed to. More may be added later.

+ Teams are now allowed to hire up to 6 drivers +

These are the number plates that will be used on cars which compete in MTP Sportscar Endurance Events in 2017.

MTP 2017 Rules and Regulations

Signup Thread will be posted November 7th
-------------------

Upcoming Schedule

  • December 6 & 8 - Roar before the 24
  • January 14-15 - 24 Hours of Daytona
  • May 16 & 18 Le Mans Test Day
  • June 3-4 - 24 Hours of Le Mans
  • July 29-30 - 24 Hours of Spa

Drivers
----------

+
Each car a team enters needs TWO drivers. The speed and aggression of both drivers will be averaged out to determine the speed and aggression for that particular car. If you enter a driver with 70 speed and another driver with 80 speed to drive the same car, the speed for that car will be 75. Same goes with aggression.

+ Each team can field up to 3 cars total in one class.

+ Drivers with different ratings may be paired freely. For example, you may pair a bronze driver with a gold driver, or you may place 2 bronze drivers in the same car and 2 gold drivers in another. This strategy choice is up to you.

+ Gentleman drivers are not required for any class. However, if you use a gentleman driver the car they are helping drive will receive a credit bonus depending on their speed rating. The bonuses are as follows

40-49 - x2 credits
30-39 - x3 credits
20-29 - x4 credits
10-19 - x5 credits
1-9 - x6 credits

This system is meant to help smaller teams accumulate credits more quickly. Bigger, faster teams may be confident enough to use a gentleman driver in their car and still compete for podiums or wins all while earning a large credit bonus for their finishing position.

LMP1 Driver Restrictions

- There are no restrictions on drivers in LMP1

GT1 Driver Restrictions

If entering 1 car

Driver #1 = No Restrictions
Driver #2 = No Restrictions

If entering 2 cars

Driver #1 = No Restrictions
Driver #2 = No Restrictions
Driver #3 = Silver or less
Driver #4 = Silver or less

If entering 3 cars
Driver #1 = No Restrictions
Driver #2 = No Restrictions
Driver #3 = Silver or less
Driver #4 = Silver or less
Driver #5 = Silver or less
Driver #6 = Bronze or less

GT3 Driver Restrictions

If entering 1 car
Driver #1 = No Restrictions
Driver #2 = No Restrictions

If entering 2 cars
Driver #1 = No Restrictions
Driver #2 = No Restrictions
Driver #3 = Silver or Less
Driver #4 = Bronze or less

If entering 3 cars
Driver #1 = No Restrictions
Driver #2 = No Restrictions
Driver #3 = Silver or Less
Driver #4 = Bronze or less
Driver #5 = Bronze or less
Driver #6 = Bronze or less

Bonuses
----------

This is where the total score of your team's engineers is crucial. The higher your score compared to your competitor the more points you have to spend on bonuses to improve the performance of your car and pit crew.

There are three tiers:

Top 33%
Middle 33%
Bottom 33%

To understand how this works lets say there are only 6 teams in MTP, and these are their total Engine [ENG] scores:

872 - Redline Racing
732 - Platinum Sport
653 - Autosport
458 - Turbo Productions
342 - Club Motors
0 - Edge Racing (New Team)

These teams would be considered the top 33% of the Engine [ENG] category. If entering 2 cars they would receive 4 points to spend on engine bonuses.
  • 872 - Redline Racing
  • 732 - Platinum Sport

These teams would be considered the middle 33% of the Engine [ENG] category. If entering 2 cars they would receive 3 points to spend on engine bonuses.
  • 653 - Autosport
  • 458 - Turbo Productions

These teams would be considered the bottom 33% of the Engine [ENG] category. If entering 2 cars they would receive 2 points to spend on engine bonuses.
  • 342 - Club Motors
  • 0 - Edge Racing (New Team)

Notice
that these points can be spent on each individual team car in any way the team desires. For example, you could spend all the bonus points on one car and create a 'hare' for your team. Or you could spread them out over all the team cars for a more balanced attack. The strategy decision is up to you.

If entering 2 cars
Top 33% Get 4 Points
Middle 33% Get 3 Points
Bottom 33% Get 2 Points

If entering 3 cars
Top 33% Get 5 Points
Middle 33% Get 4 Points
Bottom 33% Get 3 Points

Engine [ENG]
1 pt - +5% more horsepower
1 pt - 15% better fuel mileage
1 pt - 85% reliability (65% default)

Chassis [CHS]
1 pt - 6% stronger brakes + 6kgs less weight
1 pt - 4% less drag
1 pt - 5% more downforce free of drag

Pit Crew [PIT]
1 pt - 50 second repair speed (150 seconds default)
1 pt - 3.5 seconds faster pit stops
2 pts - 7 seconds faster pit stops

Tire War
----------

In all future MTP events teams will be able to choose a specific tire for their cars. Each tire will have specific performance parameters.

For Sportscar Endurance Racing in MTP, the 2 tire Manufacturers available to choose from are

  • Dunlop
  • Michelin

Each tire brand will have its own performance curve. Maybe a tire offers more grip at the beginning of a stint, but less grip at the end of a stint, but another tire has less grip at the beginning of a stint, but more at the end. Testing tire solutions is still ongoing so there is nothing definitive at the moment.

Advanced Engineering
----------

Setups are no longer the only way to gain an advantage in speed over the competition. With advanced engineering you can use your technical knowledge to improve the performance of your cars.

Team Pezzarinho Bahrain Press Statements

Perry Brown:
"Another solid weekend! We tried something different in practice and ended up keeping it for the rest of the Grand Prix. We got the strategy right as well with the tyre wear as high as it was here, so I'm really pleased we have not made any mistakes in these opening races. It was great finally watching Alonso and Bottas toe to toe on circuit, and congratulations also for Sara Hockenheim's performance!"

Fernando Alonso:
"My race was a little messy in the first stint, first losing the lead at the start and then the mistake after passing Valtteri. For me it was exciting and I am happy the car I have allowed me to recover, to fight, and to win. Now we work hard to maintain this lead and this advantage."
