I'm afraid I believe the whole 'Gifting' idea, now that save game data is unlocked, has become a total mockery. However, the alternative of locking the game save again is a FAR worse evil, IMO.

For the game to have any meaning, for ownership of hard to achieve or afford cars to be anything other than a joke, I believe we are left with only removing the 'Gifting' option as a solution.

Grinding A- or B-Spec (especially B-Spec, as it can be done completely hands-free) already allows anyone to achieve a full Garage with little or no effort. But cloning and gifting makes even THAT minuscule involvement moot.

If you want to share a tune with friends, you can write it down (there are fewer parameters that you can tune than older GT games or other racing games anyway... it's hardly a burden).

Please 'sign' this if you support returning a small measure of dignity to car achievement in GT5...

Thank you.

Boo! Kudos for you -1

No way! Personally I think grinding is the biggest crime of all because when I put aside time to play a game I don't do it to race the same boring track for hours on end I play it to have fun.

It has its good and bad points...So I think it's best to give it the benefit of the doubt.
What would be better is the GT1 style system (load other garage - or something) where another person can "buy" a copy of the car in your garage. Cost is fixed to the car type, and the seller doesnt lose the car... But I think all cars in that game had resale value... Not some that can only be removed.

Um... No.

If you don't like it, don't use it.

Can you explain how gifting has become a mockery because of the save unlock?

I know the birthday glitch has been exploited with gifting.

I've only ever gifted away a Lupo, so I'm not in the car trade anyway, but I'd like to know the reasoning for the animosity.

What the **** ? Don't like it, don't use it

If you don't like gifting don't do it. Some people do like having it. Who are you to dictate how others must play the game?

Your need to force some sort of elitist sense of accomplishment on players world-wide is downright stupid.

Everyone plays for their own reasons, screw off and enjoy yours. Its none of your concern how or why anyone else obtains cars.

Its a game, you can play for dignity all you want. Im going to play for fun.

Don't bother.

just play your own way.
I like to work for my cars and XP.

If other people like to have a Veyron from day one to use in the sunday cup that is their loss.
I think they are better of playing the Arcade mode or maybe even another game.

And for the grinding.
What is the problem? Do you mean you'll never play a race for fun? is at a chore?
To me it's not, if played de Super GT series at least 10 times now and still love it.
specially Sasuka in the rain is a challenge if you use an older generation GT car.

But that maybe I'm a bit strange ;)

I don't duplicate cars and I don't do the birthday glitch either, I enjoy helping my friends by lending them cars they need to progress further in the game.

I also enjoy sending cars to my friends as presents or thank you's for help they have previously given me in this or other games.

Just because other people abuse or exploit the gifting process doesn't mean I should loose the ability to either help or reward my true friends.

Sorry - but this petition is a big fat NO from me 👎

I only used it twice. I gave two cars to a friend and got them back after he used them for a race.

I could do without it.

PETITION FAIL

No way am I signing this. Gifting has many more useful purposes than duplicating cars. It's an inevitable result, but I would much rather have the ability to trade cars. It's immensely useful.

lol how about a petition to get ride of grinding and overpriced cars.

Duping cars and using glitch requires way more effort than the B-Spec grinding you talk about...

Anyways, why stop there though right OP? why don't we make it so only the people who has the car in real life may be able to have it in the game. I don't like how I have to work for years to afford a Ferrari, while somebody could just own it in the game with a week's worth of grinding. That is totally bs and undermines my achievement. Let's keep the elitism alive!

So you want to make it to where no one can gift a car to a friend just because some people have used it to duplicate a car or 10. Who cares? What other people do has no effect on me nor you.

There are plenty of things that could be done to the game and make it better but this is not something that is needed.

As for things that could be done after runnign several different cars online last night I was thinking it would be really nice to have a button in the garage that allows you to change the oil in either all of your cars or all of the cars in your favorites list at once charging you of course for all the ones that need an oil change but all in one quick step.

Ideally if this was also accessible from the garage while in a lobby it would be great.

I agree that the combination of car duplication and gifting has made cars that were supposed to be rare, i.e. the X2010, commonplace, but they shouldn't go and ban gifting. The only thing I use it for is getting paint chips and museum cards from my second account to my main one, and any rare cars that pop up in the UCD, but even so I think it should stay.

i thing this is one of the best features of gt5.

love negotiating trades with friends;)

While I agree that gifting is cheap and ruins the skill factor, I prefer to keep gifiting in tact. Why? Because I am not cheating and I like the fact that friends can give each other cars for gifts. If you prefer to feel the satsifaction of completing everything yourself, than don't use the exploit and don't help others do it.

Now the problem is the unfair advantage this may give someone in online. That is why there are power and weight restrictions options in place to allow you to make an even playing field.

I do agree that the gifting idea has just really been erased...now that people are duping cars and exploiting it. Now they got what they wanted in the first place (the game save)

Why should PD do anything for us now that we broke our trust...

Perhaps some of you have missed the point, but gifting was SUPPOSED to be, you 'give' your car to a Friend, and while he has it, YOU DON'T. Now, with save game data restore, it has simply become an exploit. You REALLY want this?

Yes, I completely agree that the root of the problem is the lack of Events in GT5, and the NEED to grind. But when B-Spec makes this a cakewalk, why exploit this at all?

I am convinced that most of those adamantly against this petition are also the same people that would like it if you could simply download a save game that wasn't locked to anyone's PSN, and instantly have every single car in the game, upgraded to the max, and every trophy, every challenge beat, every Event golded...

Then they could PRETEND that they have actually beaten the game.💡:banghead:

As long as you can't trade trophies, there is nothing to worry about. You will still have something to show for your efforts and everyone else can just play the game the way they want to.

edit, just to be clear: I haven't used any one of the possible exploits. That is the way I like to play the game.

I think PD should of allowed most cars available in arcade mode and online mode in stock form from the start and the rarer cars unlockable from completing events. This would have reduced the motive of people wanting to dupe cars or use the birthday glitch.

If gifting feature was to be removed, it should be replaced with the option to share cars with friends for online races so people can use each others garage.

Gifting cars at 1 per day could remain or increased to 2 or more as long as they add share the garage function. From what I've seen on here, the reason why people exploit is to be able to go online with a bigger collection of cars against friends. I have no problems with this as some people mainly use GT5 as as an online racing sim and don't have the time to grind or the option to leave PS3 on to get more credits for new cars.

Surely the idea of not being able to send Bday cars/cars you have won would be easier? lmfao

LOL way to put everyone in the same basket. I think you will make a lot of friends with that comment.

Well, if that's the case, the current exploiting situation is better than the way it was supposed to be.

You know what's funny? The only people who mention trophies and beating the game are the ones who demand that people be slaves to their misguided opinions.

Maybe people dupe because they want to race and enjoy? Think about it.

Your missing the point completely.

What do you car how someone else plays the game?

You just so happen to be... dead wrong. 👎

How about a petition for an option to open up everything in GT5 without trophies for those who want to play it like a sim, leaving the regular game for those who want to grind, earn trophies and proclaim what a great gamer they are.
