I am convinced that most of those adamantly against this petition are also the same people that would like it if you could simply download a save game that wasn't locked to anyone's PSN, and instantly have every single car in the game, upgraded to the max, and every trophy, every challenge beat, every Event golded...

Then they could PRETEND that they have actually beaten the game.💡:banghead:
Or perhaps so they can spend £40 on a game and actually feel like they're getting value for money from it.

Can you imagine buying a real car and being told you can only have half the HP, half the seats and 3 wheels until you've proven you can get to work in under 15 mins?

No. I do it cause I thought the "share cars" option in GTPSP was great!

In GT5 it would be limited to online if it were up to me.
"Share" should be along side gifting In my opinion.

If there was more content in a-spec I'd agree with you. But with so few races you will end up doing countless indy races anyways just to get the cars you need for the next races. Instead of being free to buy what you want. The fgt is a great example. It costs about 4,5 mills and the championship pay is pennies.

Then there is the used car slot. If you want some specific car you may have wait an eternity for it to show up and hope you have the moneys when it does appear. Now you can "trade" it from someone.

I haven't used the gift glitches myself because I'm not really into the really fast and expensive cars. Doing couple of indys will give me enough money to buy a handful of cars. But I can certainly feel for the guy who likes lemans cars or prototypes which cost couple of mills each at the very least. Doing 20-50 indy races just to be able to buy a car that may appear in the ucd is just bad game design and partially the gifting fixes it.

Without gifting it would be nothing more than endless grind. It is already too much grinding anyways even with the gift option

Then they could PRETEND that they have actually beaten the game.💡:banghead:

If you're that overly concerned with people doing this, you really need to find better ways to spend your time. It's really just pathetic that you don't feel as good about what you achieved in the game, just cause someone else took the easy route. Grow up, it's a video game. There are much larger problems in this world than people duplicating cars in GT5.

NEVER!!!

You should be taken out to the wood shed and flogged for suggesting this. Or you have not a single PSN friend who plays GT5. Or you are incredibly selfish and were never taught the concept of sharing when you were a child.

Car sharing is very useful, I've lent cars to my friends so they may complete events ,and vis versa, cloning is awful IMO but each to their own, at least when I get my X1 I will ave earned it, and have the pleasure from that knowledge.

Perhaps some of you have missed the point, but gifting was SUPPOSED to be, you 'give' your car to a Friend, and while he has it, YOU DON'T. Now, with save game data restore, it has simply become an exploit. You REALLY want this?

Yes, I completely agree that the root of the problem is the lack of Events in GT5, and the NEED to grind. But when B-Spec makes this a cakewalk, why exploit this at all?

Far from beating the game it would be the start, they would go ahead and drive and appreciate the cars. This beating the game concept has no place in a sim, in fact it's the grind that is holding GT5 back from being the sim it could be from day one.

Let it be known that I, variable_chaos, am personally ruining Destinkeys GT5 experience.

I really don't get why you care that I'm duplicating paint chips to have a full fleet of brown cars... Or that I got my FGT without reducing my 5 million credits.

The only limiting factor to having anything in GT5 is time spent. You can grind b-spec to 40 and BUY the X2010.

Nobody is ruining this game for you, except you.

dignity? c'mon, it's just a game! I wish everyone had access to every car right out of the box! Why not? All I ever hear people say is that Gran Turismo is only about the driving. So let it be about setting up cars & driving. In a way, PD has shown how silly this whole restrictiveness is with their new leveling system, horrible prize cars and lower prize money. They did an arbitrary change to the games economy and made a lot of people frustrated so they're finding an easy way around it. More power to them.

I won't do any glitching or duping. I have about 2 weeks of B-Spec grinding before I'll ever get an X2010. Why would I get upset with other people getting a ton of X2010s while I'm still trying to get my first one? Who cares, just enjoy the game!

mmm, I agree about cloning and multiple accounts nonsense. A few weeks ago if someone was in an x1 I'd think "wow he must be pretty good", now I wonder "did he cheat?"

Alot of anger and sniping on these boards!

There was an excellent thread around here about GT5 parents and people who own the game, but get very limited play time. It would take years to get the time to put in the days of grinding just to get a specific car. Gifting, exploiting, redbull gifting all can help those people get their cars and have fun with them sooner.

Signed, I don't like the whole duping thing, unless that gets fixed, I really suggest banning it for now..

But again, does it make any difference?

So when you see a high level player do you ask yourself "did he race his way there on technical tracks? or did he just indy grind it 400 times?"

From what I remember, playing online doesn't allow you to see levels?...

I see your point though, suppose I was thinking of the days when level 35 b-spec was a million miles away therefor you'd expect it to be achieved through the vettel challenge! Also going by my friends list, everyone is focused on a-spec with only a couple of folk getting involved in b-spec.

Yup, its under basic info in the lobby.

Wow! Haven't seen such a tantrum since I told the kids they had to put their toys up, and go to bed!

Look, guys, imagine if this exploit could be done IRL. What value would ANYTHING have? A million dollar Veyron would be worth EXACTLY the same as a Fiat500. A diamond would be worthless. Every girl in the world would be a Victoria's Secret catalog model, and thus lose ALL their appeal. Rarity is what gives ANYTHING value.

Personally, I don't mind the casual user... My take would be simply to have ALL cars available (once you get to the level where you can drive them) in the Arcade Mode. That's pretty arcade-y, isn't it?! If that's how you want to play the game, have at it. But the gifting and duplicating has one ENORMOUS consequence to the online game. It basically mandates that EVERYONE has to use it, or be at a severe disadvantage to those that have every car, at every tuning level, for every opportunity.

I don't know about you, but for this game to have any legs at all, online is going to be where it is made or broken. This exploit breaks it, pure and simple. Without the ability to DETUNE a car you own to enter lobbies and seasonal events where the requirement is lower than what you have done to a car, those that are willing to use the exploit to have multiple copies of the same car gain an unfair advantage.

To risk such a long-term important part of the game to some ADD weenies that 'want it ALL, and want it NOW!' is such short term thinking it astounds me. But OTOH, I don't see anything other than short term thinking here, anyway. It's time for bed, kids!

As I may have mentioned, I am not against any other solution to the problem that involves honest 'gifting', and to those that are doing just that, accept my apologies (there was a reason I said 'MOST', not 'all'. Try reading, rather than assuming...). You KNOW, in truth, you are not the intended target of this thread. But those using it to do unfettered duplication are not looking at the big picture. Sure, it feels good NOW. But down the road, it is going to have consequences you haven't thought about.

As does MOST 'instant gratification' in life, if the truth be told. But what else can we expect from the 'Me Generation'?

There IS a reward for patience, and there IS a reward for perseverance. Sadly, you are short changing yourselves, and I fear adversely affecting the game even for those of us that DON'T want the easiest path.

They could just make the more pricey cars ungiftable, say, anything over 5 mil. That way you could still gift most of the cars, but X1 and other previously rare cars would gain their value.

All the hell that PD/Sony has/had to do was enter a SIMPLE line of code that in which once one GIFTED a car, the game would AUTOMATICALLY SAVE THE GAME.

CASE CLOSED and then no one would be able to dupe and ruin this game

the fact they didnt think of this from the strat boggles my ****ing mind.

that and the fact there are so many little details that I cant believe have been left undone

there are more then a few things that are wrong that honestly anyone with some common sense could of avoided....it makes me wonder who the **** was in charge of managin what got done......cuz whoever it was they didnt have any ****ing common sense. should be fired imo. there are things wrong that are just unforgivable.

Look at it this way, what if you spent £1,000,000 on a Veyron, then had to drive for 100 hours before you could use more that 100hp? You'd feel abit ripped off wouldn't you?

Again, you make it sound like people need to earn things in a game. If I buy a book and choose to read the last page first, that's my choice. If I buy a game, I'd like to be able to play most the game without investing more of my valuable time into it.

There IS a reward for patience, and there IS a reward for perseverance. Sadly, you are short changing yourselves, and I fear adversely affecting the game even for those of us that DON'T want the easiest path.
You have too much free time and money if you seek reward from a game you've already paid good money for.

That is not a solution at all. I'll just make a back-up of the save before I send the car and even if it saves I'll just load up from the back up. You fail...

The game does exactly that, that's why trading worked pre-1.05 update. Now you can backup your save so it doesn't matter, you just delete save after gifting and copy your pre-trade save.

I'm afraid I believe the whole 'Gifting' idea, now that save game data is unlocked, has become a total mockery. However, the alternative of locking the game save again is a FAR worse evil, IMO.

For the game to have any meaning, for ownership of hard to achieve or afford cars to be anything other than a joke, I believe we are left with only removing the 'Gifting' option as a solution.

Grinding A- or B-Spec (especially B-Spec, as it can be done completely hands-free) already allows anyone to achieve a full Garage with little or no effort. But cloning and gifting makes even THAT minuscule involvement moot.

If you want to share a tune with friends, you can write it down (there are fewer parameters that you can tune than older GT games or other racing games anyway... it's hardly a burden).

Please 'sign' this if you support returning a small measure of dignity to car achievement in GT5...

Thank you.

Please, just get over it.

Your idea of value is poor, and superficial. Your thinking means that only those who can afford the "rare" things in life, have anything of any real value or appeal. I may not be the richest man in the world, but I am greatful and appreciate everything that I have. Even if a million other people have them. And you only want something to hold over everyone's head to say "look at how much better I am than you".

As far as others throwing a tantrum, are you serious? Look how upset you're getting over a video game. I think it really is past your bedtime.

I also highly disagree with the online being ruined. I haven't had anything but good experiences racing online myself. And the one's you're so worried about spoiling this game for you, will probably not stick around very long anyway. They'll get bored and move on to the next big arcade racer when it comes out. So I highly doubt the online will be "ruined" forever by them anyway.

It does. That can't affect deleting the save and restoring it from backup.

The game is not ruined by this exploit. Literally nothing at all anyone does with their own game affects you in any way whatsoever.

The game has 1100 cars.

That's still OVER 3 years to collect them all using the save & gift trick and/or when trading.

The only person creating a tantrum is you.

This is a video game, not real life. Some people just want to enjoy the game by driving cool cars. Nothing wrong with that. Some people, like you, want to grind and "earn" their cars. That's cool too. No one is forcing the exploit on you—you can still enjoy the game the way you want to. So why would you try and force your preference on everyone else?

Oh, and if every single woman looked liked a VS model, this world would be amazing. I feel sorry for whatever girl ends up going out with you... You'd dump her the instant you met someone vaguely similar to her.

I've had a Veryon in my garage almost since day one after winning it in an event and haven't yet driven it. Likewise I was gifted an X2010, drove it once and never touched it again.

I'm convinced most of those who appreciate duplicating cars are enthusiasts, the cars they search for are expensive and/or rare, many of those only interested in grinding and beating the game don't appear to be all that interested in the vehicles.

As for online competion I don't see how this will be affected, asside from the fact everything from cars to power to weight to tyres can be altered, much of the enjoyment comes from driving rare or unlikely cars against the usual suspects.

Nikhil :D:D Made me laugh.

Sorry, dude. You know NOTHING about value, that's obvious. Things are valued because they are rare. If every woman looked like a Victoria's Secret model, the male mind would focus on something ELSE. He is looking for something he hasn't got. Look at how beauty standards across the years, and across different cultures varies so much... The only reason you want them NOW, is because there are so few of them.

BTW, if any of you are confused as to the term 'tantrum', look it up. I'm afraid it rather more accurately describes the baiting and negative invective directed at me than any tone I have used against you. I tried to keep it calm, I tried to keep it reasoned. I see little of that in many of the responses.

But I do agree with the poster that thinks that those who read the last page in the book will not keep it very long. Perhaps my fears of this exploit being used to undermine online racing are unfounded...? I sincerely hope so.

I have been publicly in favor of several 'exploits' on other threads, but ONLY when they do not affect other users of the game. I totally agree with anyone else being able to play the game any way they choose, AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T AFFECT ANYONE ELSE. But this exploit does have the potential to impact those that choose to play the game THEIR way. As much of this thread's invective has been directed at me for the temerity of suggesting that THEIR enjoyment of the game should have limits set by others, I simply ask you...

Unless you NEVER use the benefits of this exploit to assist you online, aren't you doing the exact same thing you don't want me to ask for? You are impacting how I play the game. Maybe I SHOULD throw a tantrum just like you?

How DARE you affect how the game is played!:sly:

Video games are just that, "games". They're playthings, luxuries, and we're all spoiled if we have one. To go on and on and on over something like this is even lower than the casual gamers you're so quick to point the finger at because they got a car for free.

Wow. They paid $60 for the game. Are you really going to cry over this?

What if a guy dupes his entire garage, yet never uses any of the cars to race against other people? Then what? How would you even know about it?

How do you even deal with the world? There are billionaires out there exploiting millions upon millions of people every day. What would you do if you were aware of each and every time it happened? Could you go on living?

If the global economy crashes and we all live communal-style, then we'll talk fair and "work". Until then, using the word "work" for a luxury like a video game which people actually paid fair money for is a joke.
