What if a guy dupes his entire garage, yet never uses any of the cars to race against other people? Then what? How would you even know about it?

But what if he DOES? How would you know about that, either? Other than, he always magically seems to have exactly the right car for each and every race against you. That's the problem with this exploit. It unevens the playing field.

Sorry, dude. You know NOTHING about value, that's obvious. Things are valued because they are rare. If every woman looked like a Victoria's Secret model, the male mind would focus on something ELSE. He is looking for something he hasn't got. Look at how beauty standards across the years, and across different cultures varies so much... The only reason you want them NOW, is because there are so few of them.

BTW, if any of you are confused as to the term 'tantrum', look it up. I'm afraid it rather more accurately describes the baiting and negative invective directed at me than any tone I have used against you. I tried to keep it calm, I tried to keep it reasoned. I see little of that in many of the responses.

But I do agree with the poster that thinks that those who read the last page in the book will not keep it very long. Perhaps my fears of this exploit being used to undermine online racing are unfounded...? I sincerely hope so.

I have been publicly in favor of several 'exploits' on other threads, but ONLY when they do not affect other users of the game. I totally agree with anyone else being able to play the game any way they choose, AS LONG AS IT DOESN'T AFFECT ANYONE ELSE. But this exploit does have the potential to impact those that choose to play the game THEIR way. As much of this thread's invective has been directed at me for the temerity of suggesting that THEIR enjoyment of the game should have limits set by others, I simply ask you...

Unless you NEVER use the benefits of this exploit to assist you online, aren't you doing the exact same thing you don't want me to ask for? You are impacting how I play the game. Maybe I SHOULD throw a tantrum just like you?

How DARE you affect how the game is played!:sly:

Ummm... I guess you like collecting rare girls like rare cars then. Personally, I judge each woman on her own—if she's attractive then she's attractive. If she's intelligent then she's intelligent. If she's funny then she's funny. According to you, a perfectly smart, funny, and beautiful woman would be worthless if there were someone else with the same qualities.

The exploits don't effect you online. If anything, they level the playing field. Now people who don't have the time to play GT5 for 10 hours a day can use the fun cars too. Whereas before, people with no life who just grinded all day would be the only ones with access to these cars. The exploit doesn't make you a faster driver, it just gives you access to expensive cars (which, btw, are not necessarily the fastest cars). Winning an online race still depends on skill—just because you have access to a fast car doesn't mean you can drive it quickly.

If you ban gifting how will I copy my cars?

How has his post got anything to do with pretty girls being boring.
He said if all girls looked amazing not girls who look amazing are boring.

Damn, you guys need to stop resulting to twisting words.

Perhaps some of you have missed the point, but gifting was SUPPOSED to be, you 'give' your car to a Friend, and while he has it, YOU DON'T. Now, with save game data restore, it has simply become an exploit. You REALLY want this?

Yes, I completely agree that the root of the problem is the lack of Events in GT5, and the NEED to grind. But when B-Spec makes this a cakewalk, why exploit this at all?

I am convinced that most of those adamantly against this petition are also the same people that would like it if you could simply download a save game that wasn't locked to anyone's PSN, and instantly have every single car in the game, upgraded to the max, and every trophy, every challenge beat, every Event golded...

Then they could PRETEND that they have actually beaten the game.💡:banghead:

Yep, that would be me. Single player is a joke. I just wanna race online, and not think I'm special by grinding out events against AI that's non existent.

Besides those exploiting loopholes, it has its gains...

I have just won a Nascar (level 21 ticket...) and can't sell it, so asked my friends if anyone wanted it. Its up to them then, I'm only going to bin it (I hate having duplicates of cars in my garage...).

What time dies the glitching gate open daily UK time please.
Thanks.

But what if he DOES? How would you know about that, either? Other than, he always magically seems to have exactly the right car for each and every race against you. That's the problem with this exploit. It unevens the playing field.

I knew you would say this. And my reply is that your solution is to race against people you know, or do races with limitations on various aspects of the cars. For one, racing with like-minded people is better for more reasons than the 'fact' that you know you can trust what's in their garage (lol...), and having a car for every situation is not nearly as destructive to online racing as having a bunch of bad drivers in the room. There's also one-make racing which is very enjoyable.

The point is, there are built in options that you can use to avoid 'cheaters' and make the playing field level. I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you, and I'm sorry that the reality of the world is that if there are games there will be cheaters, etc., etc. You really do need to do yourself a favor and get over it. It's going to happen when GT6 comes out, and any other game you play in the future.

Again, it's a game, a luxury. Please, this is pathetic. They don't even keep stats for online racing, and the credits and experience points you get are not enough to make a meaningful difference anyway once you're above level 20 or so. Why care so much? Why cry over a video game?

The OP should probably start with an email to PD. They gave away high end stealth cars during the pre-sale. Clearly, they were encouraging the use of overpowered cars during early races. And since those wins compiled weren't "earned" in the traditional sense, so those users are morally bankrupt. 2011 is looking grim.

Like has been said, if you don't like it don't cheat or whatever, I earned all my cars and if I want to give a friend of mine a cool car I will do that, nothing wrong with it.

not EVERYONE that plays gt5 cheats, consider that, also consider the fact that you don't hold the receipts for everyones game. also consider that ITS JUST A GAME! lol

Man, how many times are we going to go through the same arguement..

To abuse, exploit, cheat or to NOT..

This is totally crazy..

:banghead:

@ The OP: I expect my $100 in the mail, since you seem to feel entitled enough to tell me how I should be allowed to play the game.

Wow! Haven't seen such a tantrum since I told the kids they had to put their toys up, and go to bed!

Look, guys, imagine if this exploit could be done IRL. What value would ANYTHING have? A million dollar Veyron would be worth EXACTLY the same as a Fiat500. A diamond would be worthless. Every girl in the world would be a Victoria's Secret catalog model, and thus lose ALL their appeal. Rarity is what gives ANYTHING value.

Personally, I don't mind the casual user... My take would be simply to have ALL cars available (once you get to the level where you can drive them) in the Arcade Mode. That's pretty arcade-y, isn't it?! If that's how you want to play the game, have at it. But the gifting and duplicating has one ENORMOUS consequence to the online game. It basically mandates that EVERYONE has to use it, or be at a severe disadvantage to those that have every car, at every tuning level, for every opportunity.

I don't know about you, but for this game to have any legs at all, online is going to be where it is made or broken. This exploit breaks it, pure and simple. Without the ability to DETUNE a car you own to enter lobbies and seasonal events where the requirement is lower than what you have done to a car, those that are willing to use the exploit to have multiple copies of the same car gain an unfair advantage.

To risk such a long-term important part of the game to some ADD weenies that 'want it ALL, and want it NOW!' is such short term thinking it astounds me. But OTOH, I don't see anything other than short term thinking here, anyway. It's time for bed, kids!

As I may have mentioned, I am not against any other solution to the problem that involves honest 'gifting', and to those that are doing just that, accept my apologies (there was a reason I said 'MOST', not 'all'. Try reading, rather than assuming...). You KNOW, in truth, you are not the intended target of this thread. But those using it to do unfettered duplication are not looking at the big picture. Sure, it feels good NOW. But down the road, it is going to have consequences you haven't thought about.

As does MOST 'instant gratification' in life, if the truth be told. But what else can we expect from the 'Me Generation'?

There IS a reward for patience, and there IS a reward for perseverance. Sadly, you are short changing yourselves, and I fear adversely affecting the game even for those of us that DON'T want the easiest path.

My honest opinion is that you may be having a problem seperating game from reality and you put WAY to much pride in a video game, try to brag about your GT5 accomplishments at work and see the response you get 💡

THIS IS NOT LIFE. it's a video game, if it's your life you should definitely seek professional help fine sir.

I don't really want to lose the ability to share cars with friends just because other people use it as an exploit, I don't really care if other people want to duplicate X2010's and spread them amongst people who don't want to earn them it makes no difference to how I play the game.

...this post, and the horse it rode in on!

My cousin just bought this game for Christmas.
His favorite car of all time is the Jaguar XJ220.
It will be quite awhile before he has the credits and opportunity to buy one.
So I gifted him mine for a Christmas present.

And you want a petition to prevent people from this type of sharing with each other?!

...and the horse YOU rode in on.

I say they ban racing wheels, it's an unfair advantage to people with controllers :)
you guys are all cheating.

👍
Or ban people with large HDTVs its an unfair advantage to people with small TVs. :)

This is the only petition i have ever seen that has no point. @OP is anyone actually affecting your game play or are you just jealous because they thought of it and you didn't. Grow up and get back in your box.

Gifting or trading as it has become, is a brilliant idea. There are over a thousand cars. It's almost impossible to get them all. Some cars may not turn up in someones UCD for months, if ever. Whats wrong with someone trading for a car they want with someone else who wants a car? And as far as the super rare cars go, what difference does it make if it's duped or not? It'll still drive the same, look the same, sound the same. If you don't like duping cars don't. It makes no difference if the car you want is duped, because you wanted it

Go stroke your E-Penis somewhere else. Im not one for personal attacks, but your the biggest baby on this forum.

Your entitled to your opinion, and the rest of us are entitled to disagree with its stupidity.

Just for you, Im going to give out twice the x2010's. :)

I don't understand the problem. Even online I do not think it is an issue. Sure using these cheats allows you to get more cars and more expensive cars in a shorter period of time but that is about it. Those of us who having been playing a while already had the cars we needed for most races before the clone thing even appeared. You can only have 100 cars as favorites and it is not hard to get 100 cars the hard way including some that are pretty fast even the X1 is not that hard to get.

So If I go online and find a lobby where someone is running cars that I can not compete with I will either buy another car or find another lobby or start my own. No problem.

I also have friends who are still coming to the game fresh. I want to race with these guys but they do not have the cars yet to be competive so rather than only race what they have I am happy to send them a car or 2 as a gift to get them started as are my other friends. The new guy has a big advantage over what I had starting out but I do not care I just want to have fun and this is a way to do it.

I didn't buy this game to play it as a mindless MMORPG to grind 24-7 farming money off 1 track just to buy 1 5mil car after 6 hours of Indy. I find it more joy in interacting with people online by trading and racing the cars I want with them, not with some civic that I can only afford.

Leave the "Gifting" feature alone because remember we have to accept the other person as a friend before we can trade. By "accepting" you are agreeing that hopefully he's not going to come to your house and rape you because now he knows all your information on XMB or at least know how to hack the information. "Gifting" in GT5 is risky and fun at the same time. Remember you are accepting the trade not forced to trade.

I'm afraid I believe the whole 'Gifting' idea, now that save game data is unlocked, has become a total mockery. However, the alternative of locking the game save again is a FAR worse evil, IMO.

For the game to have any meaning, for ownership of hard to achieve or afford cars to be anything other than a joke, I believe we are left with only removing the 'Gifting' option as a solution.

Grinding A- or B-Spec (especially B-Spec, as it can be done completely hands-free) already allows anyone to achieve a full Garage with little or no effort. But cloning and gifting makes even THAT minuscule involvement moot.

If you want to share a tune with friends, you can write it down (there are fewer parameters that you can tune than older GT games or other racing games anyway... it's hardly a burden).

Please 'sign' this if you support returning a small measure of dignity to car achievement in GT5...

Thank you.

There is a limit of 1 car per day per account, so it's being regulated, it's not a free for all. It also has the added benefit (intentional or not) of building up an international Gran Turismo community where people show trust in agreeing a deal with another player, and integrity in delivering his/her side of the bargain.

The Used Car Dealership is much more limited in GT5 than in previous versions, this has been countered buy the 'Gifting' aspect, which is a novel way of making the purchase of a car interesting.

Your suggestion is a step backwards into the solitary, hermetic days of yore; we should embrace trade and use the technology which is now available to us.

Giving is good. What more needs to be said?

Personally I say this is the best petition ever...at being unsuccessful.

Yeah! I'm real happy that in my RBX2010 I can be beaten by someone in a carbon X2010 that they couldn't get themselves yet seem to think they are better than me when they couldn't even get a bronze on one track. That's real fair jokers.

If they are beating you, it stands to reason that they are right to think that they are better then you. So, sarcasm fail?

Well well well.. i didnt think id see a post like this. If you dont like it dont use it. Is it a jelousy thing who knows.. if you play 'fair' your car achievements are 'fair'.

I like the gifting, I was able to send HKS Evo's to many of my close friends for Christmas.

As well my kids play and if they need a car I get it and gift it to them. They work for most of their cars though.
