Duping would be a problem if there was no trade limit. PD know about the duping exploit, and that many players do it, but feel there is no need to fix it as they're restricted to 1 car a day. PD could change the trade limit to more than 1 a day, but its unlikely as if they did pretty much nearly everyone would have almost all cars in the game within a week or two.

Just one question. How come a gaming entity like PD cant upgrade their servers to handle more traffic when Team 10 has their auction house busy all the time with the likes of cars, liveries, tunes and such? I cant fathom it.

They can, but it all comes down to money. XBOX Live is paid for service while the PSN isn't and as such it may be the PSN what needs upgrading the most and Sony won't do that if it costs them more money than they think it's worth, hence why they introduced Playstation Plus, let's hope they spend the money they make from that improving the online experience.

Yes they should upgrade their PSN performance alot. Online gaming is a bit disappointing in almost every PS3 game.

Since the PS3 system has been cracked it could be Sony is considering drastic decisions. And I see a feature which allows to copy save data to a USB stick in danger to be honest. Maybe they are going for a cloud system and stop access to most data at a PS3 system.

Like I've said before, if you wanna ban duping, ban trading/gifting completely. It's the only way to be sure. If you can't send a car away in the first place, your save data file doesn't really have any use beyond just being a backup of your data.

I've duped, because it's in the game. It's an exploit, and Sony/PD know it's there. If they cared deeply about it, it wouldn't be there.

Ak come on surely everyone will do it at some stage.

Like pokemon gold and silver, who DIDN'T do the duplicating glitch in that?

I don't see a problem in duping, to be honest, it helps complete the garage as some never get the credits or the skills to win all the cars and able to back up all the hours spent in game, and in case the PS3 fails and knowing my luck it will one day too.

I rather be able to back my save up to a flash drive then using the data transfer to another PS3 all the time, as you can't if you YLOD.

I have had cars go missing in trades etc, so I like the feature of being able to back up my cars.

And for online games, I set the BHP below 500bhp, that way you get no X2010 or Formula GT cars.

Sony just ban a lot of hackers on COD...Of coruse those hackers deserve to get banned, they almost ruined the whole online community, however I am a little suprised that they ban prestige hackers as well...If someone knows how COD prestige hack works, plz let me know. cuz if it's like a glitch as GT5's save and reload dup car method, then traders gotta be careful or stop trading cars, cuz sony might start to ban GT5 duppers in the next update or in few days.

No ones cares about douping. So long as it doesnt give anyone an unfair advantage over someone else, there is no problem.
GT5 is a small game. Doesnt take long to hit level 25 and beat all races worth beating. Special events and licences are just filler. The endurance races are silly.
If someone wants to doup to improve their personal garage instead of driving around indy tens of thousands of times, I dont see how you get all butthurt over it.

To keep things in perspective, when PD first introduced Bspec to Gran Turismo, many people said it was cheating because you wernt the one racing.

I've recently started duping cars in GT and I don't think its cheating because...

1) PD obviously knew about this exploit and could easily turn the 'Give to friend' option off.

2) I only dupe cars I can't win legitimately in both A Spec and B spec. Doing this gives me the incident to win the events in A/B Spec. I would never dupe the X1, I want to earn it like a man (see my other thread which got closed). Currently at level 29 so close.

3) I don't see the point in saving up 6 million credits only to buy one car and then have to grind for the money again.

For the record, I think you find everyone has backed up there data, me included. If you haven't then more fool you if your save corrupts, or your PS3's Blu-ray drive packs up or YLOD.

And one of my friends actually sent me the X2010, I thought wow, why you send me that for? you must like me, he replied saying he won another at level 35 B-spec and didn't want the high mileage one. I only use it for B-spec as B-spec AI drivers even at the right level for the races are not very good.(Historic Cup, Monaco, fully tuned Toyota 7 and still hits the same barrier every lap :scared: )

I prefer to battle my way throught in A-spec and use cars closer to the specs racing. Favourite car, my Italia.

In my opinion duping cheapens the cars. We have the ability to trade and barter for those special cars that rarely come up on the UCD. Now that element of the game has been removed, the cars are easy and it takes away from the game.

Is it right or wrong you decide.

I choose to grind and wait for cars to come up in the UCD and will trade with people I know that do the same. Maybe I just don't fall into the instant gratification crowd. I like my gaming experience to have some integrity.

I just grinded for the Ferrari F10 F1 car, yes I know I can't use it offline other then arcade or practise. But I wanted it, the online special events helped, would of got there sooner if I didn't need to buy a DTM car, and tune the cars I already had but unused in my garage.

Now going for the Ferrari P4, this will take a while.

Still don't see the problem to be honest. One day everyone will have the same cars anyway once we all complete the game.

i am not againtst dupper, a lot of ppl just dont understand. It's not about whether dupping is right or wrong, but would sony ban duppers? cuz they have banned prestige hackers in COD.

Prestige hackers is same as duppers in GT5. Both do no harm to other ppl online, and COD prestige level require grinding effort to achieve as same as GT5's cars. However Sony still decide to ban prestige hackers. I am quite suprised that Sony ban them, cuz it seems they cant tolerate users who exploit glitches even though they are not hackers nor cheaters.

well at least they only ban them permanently from COD server, so I guess if they start to ban GT5 dupper, I will just sell my GT5 copy to bestbuy for $40 (i bought it for $30 at bestbuy last month).

Could anybody post a part from Terms of use 4.1 in english, i`d like to know how it sounds in english. I can`t change it even with system language set to english. It changes everything in the game but not Terms of use!

wesyu, you do understand that making a copy of your game save, backing up and replacing is not that same as hacking the PS3 and bypassing Sony's user agreement and security protocols, right?

Unless I'm ignorant of what's going on, the COD bans/latest firmware update and the GT5 dupe exploit have nothing in common.

I didn't buy GT5 to trade cars with people, I bought it to drive & race cars. The marketplace has nothing to do with GT5 itself, it's not on the disc. It's a made up sub forum on GT planet.

Exactly.

There was never any trading to begin with. It's a gifting system which purpose is to give a car to a friend if you felt generous or something. Now people turned it into something else that wasn't meant to be by the developers either, just like duping.

The marketplace is nice and all, but it's completely made up by the gaming community, not PD.

One thing we need to think about is that if duping is an exploit, its a glaringly obvious one and one that was used almost immediately after the last update. PD will have known about this and decided to leave it in. So if PD thinks its ok then thats good enough for me.

of course they knew and I totally agree if they didnt want this to happen they would not allow you to back up saved games. Its a matter of personal choice, if you want to earn it earn it if you want to dupe dupe who cares.

It isn't the same thing, it isn't a hack to dupe, why can't you get this in your head. This is never going to happen.

With the MW and MW2 hacks it is due to the jailbreak and people actually physically changing there saves so they have aim bots etc. And editing the servers. This not allowed and it DOES ruin the game for everyone who hasn't done this or not stupid enough to do this.

Its why I play MW2 on 360, Mircosoft can detect a hack a mile away.

Now back to duping cars, this is not hacking the PS3 or the software. Its just backing up your save data and reinstalling it once you trade a car. You can only trade 1 car anyway, and I very very rarely do, I just grind for them.
Also handy if you use the same PSN on another PS3, that way you can play it on that console, and that helps when the PS3 decides its had enough and goes YLOD or blu-ray dies.

Most of the cars I've acquired I've done so normally, but there are occasions where I feel duping is much more productive. In instances where there are multiple race cars on the UCD and I don't have enough money to get them all, there's no viable option to earn cash by grinding, since those cars will be gone after a few races. I'm simply not willing to wait and cycle the UCD 100 more times while grinding Indy for hours on end hoping the car will come up again. In these instances, I'll resort to duping. I have no problems having a garage with a 20-25% duped cars.

They will not ban duplicaters, FACT.

Consider the GT5 car trading market and just think about it for one second...

Why do so many people car how other people enjoy their game? It has no impact on how I enjoy my game, so dupe away people or don't.

Trading just became sharing, and as I've been teaching my daughter. It's good to share.

i don't. there is still a lot of people who don't connect their ps3 to the internet because they don't want to or don't have internet access

i know, but i am afraid of being banned because of dupping cars...

cuz they also ban prestige hackers on COD after this update. prestige hacker is like duppers in GT5. They dont cheat at online matches, they just boost up their own rank, sounds fimiliar as duppers, just increase car collection in your garage while done nothing harmful to others.
Its a night and day comparison. /thread

Hypothetical situation time for all the morally righteous.

You grind your way to a certain car and get to a-spec level 24 or something.

A duper or a gifter gets the same car from playing the game a lot less....and....

Then beats you online fair and square anyway because they are actually a bitter sim driver and could have been racing high powered sim cars for years.

Do you cry and call them a cheat or take it like a man, realising that like in real life some people are spoilt and faster than you?
