To be careful, we are not going to reveal how exactly "we know" these things.

Oh okey, sorry Pupik:scared:  Im sure ya'll have your ways of doing it.;) I could probly name a few out of common knowledge, but since it clearly isn't supposed to be discussed i'll just keep my mouth shut about it.👍

How is it being a postwhore?
Gotta love that comeback, daan 👍 .

Not. The thread. For that.

I have an idea on how you "know" that but I won't reveal it in case it's what you actually use to determine if it's the same person creating another account :scared: .

You have 3, and 2 warnings. Despite those infractions and warnings and despite having your post count reset for spamming, you're still posting over 50 posts a day (post count was reset 20 days ago and you're already on over a thousand...) Most folk with your infraction history would have been banned by now so you have been given chances to improve which you have ignored and have not taken. You still continue to post of the sake of it without really adding anything to the forums.

I feel the need to ask this, whats up? Im slightly confused about your attitude on here, when i first joined this site i got a bad first impression of you then you helped in my first infraction and i sort of thought hmm just proving my point but i guess you were just doing your job, fair enough your perhaps not a bad guy but then every so often i'll stumble across posts like this in threads and wonder. Couldn't you as a mod just have been more helpful and answered his question? Or just ignored his post after all he did say 'Sorry if I'm asking too much'.

You're walking on thin ice, my friend. I can't speak for the mods, but moderating isn't a glorious job everyone makes it out to be. Just ask Famine. When warnings and infractions aren't enough, sometimes a public comment such as this is the only way to get someone to clean up their act. I respect the job all moderators do, whether I agree with what they do or not. The post you made just hammers my point home.

While it's not a huge secret how we'd go about figuring out how someone is a returning banned member, there's no need to divulge said information, thanks.

When you are a Mod and know what transpires between the staff and a member with warnings and/or infractions, you will then understand why the staff occasionally loses their patience. Hint: this is one of those times.

When you are a Mod
Looking forward to it:D lol,
Thinking about it now i rarely come across a troll or someone with a recurring attitude problem on this site so i'd say you guys are doing a good job:tup:.
Im still a little confused on the issue of certain previously banned members returning without a change to the actions that caused their original ban and why they seem to be exempt from a perm ban but perhaps it's something i'll never know, its not the first time I've asked about this but I've never had an answer on the matter so shushing now:).

Where did you get the impression they are exempt? While there is the occasional exception, which I'm not going to address now, if someone is banned, comes back and starts right where they left off, they're banned again.

If you know of a returning banned member that's running amuck, feel free to PM me.

To be honest, I love daan's sneaky personality and it would be such a shame if he changed it :indiff: . And daan, if you're reading this, keep up the good work 👍 .

This. Being a mod may look cool, but if you can't keep a cool head then it's simply not the job for you.

Meh? The last time I met a troll or someone deliberately trying to harass me was a couple of hours ago via PM. I reported the post immediately and now he's banned off the site.

That's precisely how it's supposed to work, is it not? Person gets banned, person returns, staff is alerted, person is re-banned.

Question but a member gets banned and creates another account, does that mean they won't get banned again if they change there ways as they should?

That depends more on the circumstances of their ban rather than whether they change their behavior. As you can see in the log, certain returning members are ban on sight regardless of how they conduct themselves when they try to rejoin.

I see. But I was thinking you guys would use stuff like IP addresses of computers or notifying ISPs to tell if someone is a returning member.

EDIT:

It seems that this confirms that IP addresses are probably taken into account.

They had chances to change their ways, and they didn't, hence the permanent ban. When moderators ban someone permanently, they intend to have them banned, well, permanently.

To be honest, i think it is possible that sometimes the mods will post public comments to provide an example to people about what not to say to a moderator.

Yea i seen that stuff in the banned user log, some screw up so badly the first time they could never get back on here at all.:scared:

Just saw gamerdog got banned,

He was amazing, he once told me that he could "modify GT5 in 6 months" if he had all the files from the disc on his computer. He then asked the question, at what point does game modification become illegal?

Thanks goodness he has morals or he would surely modify the game.

I think this thread has run its course. As always, if you have specific questions about our moderation policies here, contact a member of the staff or create a thread here in the Site Support forum.
