I've been having a fireball season in a public F1 06 (Super Aguri) - two races to go, I'm fourth on 48 points with 6 podiums (I just came off a P2 in Shanghai) :D

To add to that, I qualified fourth for Suzuka - the three drivers ahead of me are the top three in the championship, and my nearest competitior (10 points back on 38) qualiied something like 18th.

It really has been a cracker season.

In GTP F1 news: Bad bad race. Qualified P2. Get "exceptionally bad start", drop to P18 (!). Claw myself back up into P8 and points. Only for who was it, Jef? to overtake me on the final lap and relegate me to P9 (and no points...)!

CCYoshi's 'At Least I'm Still 4th' Race Report: Nurburgring

GTP F1 S7 Nurburgring Grand Prix Champion: David Smith, Midland
A brilliant race to grab his maiden win. Overtook McLaren at the start and never looked back. Domingues passed him once, but retired the next lap. Also, Smith has impressively scored points every race this season.

Silver Medal: Blake Haswell, Renault
Still got it! Won last race, podium this race. Had a good start from midfield and quickly moved into points position. Led a lap or two and came up just short of 10 points.

Bronze Medal: Suzanne Taylor, Williams
Started near the front, led 2 laps, and came within 4 seconds of a win. Forced to pit on lap 42, but likely was near pit window regardless. First finish ahead of teammate Ashley Butler - both did well in this race.

Points Scorers:
4th - Horton, McLaren: Stayed near the front in the early parts but lost pace after the safety car. Still finished strong, with car creeping to finish after electronics scare.
5th - Davidson, Honda: Always stayed in the points - could've left with a better finish if not for some mechanical glitches.
6th - Butler, Williams: Clean race, 3 points. Also, pit stop of 6.66 seconds. Finished 6th. Coincidence?
7th - Chang, Honda: Slowly moving up, scoring 2 points to make a total of 3. Survived a lap-one shunt.
8th - Dubois, Aguri: Hung just inside the top 10 for most of the race, and made the move on McLaren in the last lap to steal the last point.

Casualty Report:
Whitcomb (Lap 12): Collided with Chang on first lap and carried on. 11 laps later made a driver error and beached it.
Keller (Lap 18): May have damaged engine leaving pits, as it gave up spectacularly on his outlap.
Domingues (Lap 28): Things were going good - he had made the pass for the lead a lap before. But the front wing came loose and cut into a tire, sending him into the barriers and bringing out the SC.

'So Close Yet So Far' Award: Double winners! (Losers?)
First off, Domingues for finally getting into the lead, just to have the car let him down. Bruce McLaren also gets a trophy for making a miserable start, clawing back into the points just to be passed for 8th in the last lap.

Defining Moment: Safety Car, Lap 28
Sorry for all the publicity - the mechanics at BMW must be quite embarrassed now! But the retirement of Domingues was not the only thing - the midrace SC likely shook up the order a bit, as it was right between pit cycles.

:grumpy: Still, I got a trophy :D

(Do I get the Drove It Like His Pants Were On Fire award for biggest improvement on lap 1 position? )

Hey Guys.. I've joined the GTP v8's for a season since I'll be able to do it while i'm at school.. Hopefully soon i'll be able to join the F1 again soon :)

Great to have you back Simon, be sure to join Season 8!

CCYoshi's 'Blasted Irony' Race Report: Barcelona

GTP F1 S7 Barcelona Grand Prix Champion: Blake Haswell, Renault
Now it's clear why he did so average last season - he's been saving all the karma for this run. 3 races, 2 wins, lowest finish 2nd. Started midfield in Barcelona and just glided his way up. Only question is - will he run out of steam by season's end?

Silver Medal: Bruce McLaren, McLaren
Ran a distressingly slow first stint - but it was all according to plan. A mid-race SC and 2 pits in the last 25 laps kept him light on fuel on new tires when it counted. Lost 4 seconds in the pits though - enough to cost him a win.

Bronze Medal: Brad Horton, McLaren
Double podium for McLaren! An easy race, always remaining in the top 10. Survived an early collision without harm, and only loses 4 points to Blake. Gap is now 9 to the leader!

Point Scorers:
4th - Paajanen, Toro Rosso (Stalled at start but clawed back up due to 3-stop strategy)
5th - Smith, Midland (Led early in the race, but throttle issues slowed him and relegated him to mediocre points)
6th - Whitcomb, Renault (Was leading at about halfway but maybe pitted too soon after SC came out)
7th - Beyens, Ferrari (Same race as Whitcomb, different car. Led early, faded late)
8th - Orchard, Red Bull (Incident on lap 16 forced 2 pits in 6 laps. Managed to fight to a point)

Casualty Report:
Kawasie (Lap 1): Shot off the line straight into Taylor who was right in front of him. Game over.
Dubois (Lap 10): Chopped across Henson's wing when trying to defend and spun off. SC came out.
Mason (Lap 20): Went off into the sand, and then the grass, and then the wall from 5th. Resulted in Safety Car while officials cleaned up the sudden redecoration of the track.
Chang, Machiels (Lap 27): Locked wheels and went into synchronized spinning into opposite barriers, scattering debris. SC came out for the third and final time.
Domingues (Lap 60): Reported gearbox issues which sent him into a spin on lap 57 from the lead. 3 laps later the clutch began giving out and eventually destroyed the engine (overheating through clutch slippage or something. I don't know this stuff >_>), bringing him to a halt in front of his adoring, and now quite shocked, fans.

Consistency Award: Yuuji Kawasie + Bruno Domingues
Kawasie ran a special 'Kamikaze Kawasie' paintjob for this race after some jokes shared with his old Midland partner McLaren. True to his name, he promptly went out of the race after 4 seconds after gunning it right into Taylor. (not on purpose, I swear!)

Also, Domingues can't seem to shake the mechanical ghouls. That's 4 retirements in a row for him. Talk about not being able to catch a break!

Defining Moment: Domingues's Retirement (again), Lap 60
I'm sure the BMW mechanics will be sleeping with the fishes if these performances keep up. Domingues was leading, at home, and then the car fell to pieces under him in just 3 laps. What can you do?

hmm, who won the first race of the GTP V8 Supercars Season 2? Oh yeah, that was ME!!!! :D Stone Brothers Racing romped home to a 1-2 in the first part of the two-race Clipsal 500 at Adelaide. FORD RULES!!!

'Kamikaze Kawasie' <- lol! i like that! ahah
well,BMW mechanics are really really sleeping! i cant finish a race, always mech failure!this is getting boring this way!race starts...Domingues goes..Domingues catch first place..Domingues is out..mech failure!

Finally!

I guess running 41 laps of fuel worked pretty well! :D

Just finished one F1 2006 season with great success since I won it :)

I really would like to join you, when will season 7 finish?

Nick

Season 7 still has a good 3 weeks to go.

As for Honda, I'm sorry to my team mate, I've been experiencing 'problems' and was unable to practice, resulting in 20th. :scared: Points will be a miracle..

As for the V8's, 2nd in the championship is nice. :)

Season 7 still has a good 3 weeks to go. :)

Hey everyone,

I'm finally back and settled in again.

Storm damage took forever to clear up. I've been on dial-up until just yesterday :indiff:

I'd like to put my name down for a drive next season, I'm not going to be picky with teams etc so whatever falls I'll take, even if it's another Aguri season. :dopey:

Cheers all 👍

Booya double points finish for Honda, best race of the season so far for me. :)

Well well. Deja vu.

Lap 73, and guess who I'm right in a battle with. Again.

Dubois. Only this time, he takes P8 in very dodgy circumstances. He hits me, and I only get P11. Boo.

More like Dubious.
