Oooo 4th with a botched second lap, I'm happy.

Interveiw With Lee Davidson, Honda Race Driver

Today we held a private interview with Lee Davidson where he spoke his opinions on such matters as his rivalry with Haswell, newcomers to the championship and the future:

Reporter: Welcome Lee, thank you for joining us, so, lets get the ball rolling, hows your season been this year?
Davidson: Frustrating, to say the least! We know we have a car fast enough to challenge for the title but our development compared to other teams, Williams for example, is weak. Hopefully some new parts will be coming our way towards the tail end of the season and me aswell as Herman can start pushing for strong results.

Whats been the highlight of this season?

Silverstone, 100% it's probably the finest moment of my career. 2 laps to go I thought it was over, but then out of Stowe, Brad (Horton) ran wide loosing time and I guess it was enough for me to catch his slipstem going into Abbey, as I took him, my heart was trying to leave my ribcage or something! Then as I crossed the line, I saw the team on the wall pointing to the crowd, then when it hit me, seeing the home crowd, what I had done.

The Podium must have felt special?

Oh yeah deffinatley, Horton has been the class of the championship this season in my view, to beath im when he was at the top of his game was brilliant then to do it at Silverstone, 5 miles from my Hometown, wow, that's all I can say.

So your moving to Williams next year, is this the end of the Davidson-Honda relationship?

Racing in Formula 1? It would appear so sadly, it's been a great 6 Seasons with the team, we have practically became a family. We gone through both high and low moments but yet the team has been fantastic, always pushing further, I'm just unhappy not to have brought them home a championship as they really deserve it. I have had a word with Honda Racing Development however and have decided that after my racing career ends, if I wish to enter my own team, Honda will be more than happy to help me out, which is great news.

So why Williams?

Well first off, their pace seems good, Ash and Sue have had some good results with the team and hopefully I can help bring them back to their championship winning ways of Season 4. Sure it's going to be a tough transistion from a team I have been part of for so long, but Frank and Patrick both have great repsect for me and in return I have great respect for them, they are masters of their own games.

And your thoughts of future teammate, Will Whitcomb?

He has great raw pace, I think I'm one of many who has said he takes his fair share of bad luck but hopefully a new beginning will kick fire him into a championship winning driver. Of course I'll stay around to keep him on his feet but put simply, I'm impressed by him.

Your rivalry with Blake Haswell has been highly documented on over the years, how well do you two really get on?

(laughs) Rivalry? I think it's more of a private competition between us to see who gets the wins. We push eachother, even if it does look like I do more of the pushing! He has won a driver's championship and well on his way to another. Of the race track we keep in touch, granted we arn't best friends and we have had our fair share of spats at eachother, but in the end I think we both respect eachother highly.

How close have you been to being team mates and if it ever happens, how would you feel?

We have came close a number of times involving numerous teams, but I think they realise if we get in the same car, we might just punt eachother off for a laugh!

So your now on your way to finishing your 7th Season in formula one, how man ymore have you got in you?

A fair few more I hope! I love this sport and I can't see myself realistically leaving within the next 4 Seasons, afterwards perhaps I'll take a step back and review my situation, but I have a contract at Williams which I will remain loyal to, retirement is out of the question for now.

Finally, who's your tip for the driver's championship?

Can I vote for myself? (Laughs) Ok realisticly? Brad I think will take it, I've been his team mate before and I've seem his motivation towards the end of the season, it's nuts! McLaren have produced a decent car too and it's about time they took a championship, so my money is on them.

Interview With Herman Chang, Honda Race Driver

Today we held a private interview with Herman Chang after we spoke to his teammate Lee Davidson. We asked the same questions to see his opinions on such matters as returning to BMW, the season outlook, and the future.

Reporter: Welcome Herman, thank you for joining us, so, lets get the ball rolling, hows your season been this year?

Chang: Horrbile, just pure horrible. Not enough developements within Honda, can't really keep up the pace, not to mention the DNFs I have. Out of the 5 seasons, this one takes the cake.

Whats been the highlight of this season?

Well, if its for me, then nothing, this season as mentioned before is horrible. Nevertheless, the highlight of the season should be the moment where Lee takes home the win in Silverstone. Man, that sure is special.

So your moving to BMW next year, what is your opinion on returning to your former debut team?

I'm very glad actually. They have always had a pretty fast car, and was able to keep up with the pace. As they are currently 3rd on the constructors. They have been very nice to me since the day I entered this sport, and I sure hope I can take home some wins for them next season

So why BMW?

They have a good pace, although the reliability of the car is questionable (Bruno having 6 Rs) they can well be driver errors. And I've always hoped that I can someday return to my debut team and maybe settle down? (laughs)

Settle down? How is the contract looking?

Haha, I'm a drifter. I like to try new things, so I don't know what the contract will be, my manager is still working on it.

And your thoughts of future teammate, David Smith?

Well, I don't really know him, but judging from this season's performance, I'd say I am really impressed. Getting a win in the Nurb, currently 3rd place in the drivers', I'm certainly excited to have him as my teammate next season.

So your now on your way to finishing your 5th Season in formula one, how many more have you got in you?

A lot more! I love this sport and I certainly wouldn't want to give it up. As long as I get a contract offer, I will continue to race in this fabulous sport.

Finally, who's your tip for the driver's championship?

Um, I didn't bet on anything, so shh. I'm just joking, I think Haswell might take home the champ, although I don't want to see this happen. Since he already got one under his belt, I sure hope Horton can win this. (I've been instructed to take out Haswell by Mclaren. The reward is they will sign me again in Season 9.)

O_o. Is that true Mr. Chang?

Of course not.

Um, thank you for your time, and hope the remainder of the season will be better for you.

Thank you.

Much thanks...I love you too. :sly:

Just some information:

I'm currently in the process of making a GTPF1 website! So we can post the latest news from the Championship, interviews and race results.

Just editing the site now, the adress will be http://www.freewebs.com/gtpf1/ but as of yet, nothing is available, should be up properly within the next few days!

:)

Lee, please make sure you spell the stuff correctly on the GTPF1 site... like "intrested". It's "interested".

And Istanbul absolutely sucked. Mech Sympth is at 60. One point in three races. :|

Bye Bye to:
Bruce McLaren (56 Points)
Luke Mason (56 Points)
David Smith (48 Points)

Big Mover:
Ashley Butler - Re-enters at 3rd, the highest re-entry of the Power 10 yet. Mainly thanks to 4 points finishes out of the last 5 races.
Big Loser: Bruce McLaren - Was sitting pretty in second last week but this time round, thanks to big gains from people below him, he doesn't feature at all.
Final Thought: How long before a Williams takes Number 1? They are the most in-form team right now. Also 9 dfferent teams represented in the standings, how competitive in this season?!

Nuts. Averaging .33 points a race for three races is never good. :|

At least I'm leading the BTCC 71 to 48, with 5 podiums in 6 races.

Psh...you know that about 18 of those 23 points are because I took 3 pit stops in the Brands Hatch Feature. Not to mention I've been significantly smacked around in two other races.

:)

I'm in the planning stage of a Private Game managing tool, a bit like what happens here in this thread but all automated & providing a few features like publishing news etc.
Big project though and i'm still developing the platform to build it off of.
At the moment theres just a weather setup modifying tool and that still needs some adjustments.

Whats been completed is here.

What do you'll think :)

What do you'll think :)

For the wet setup tool the advice values never change in any series, so if you want to save people some time you should put those values in the functions themselves, rather than making it a user input.

I still don’t like people sharing tools that do work like this for people, though. Before I got KT I was very proud of my wet setup tool and it gave me a big advantage in the first two or three seasons, before more people figured it out.

Still, nice job.

That's what I was investigating but I couldn't confirm it at all, so thanks.
I still need to find out what setup parameters are for each carset excluding A1GP & V8's. As well the Wet Setup Values are for each series.

Hmm... I can understand why.
I was careful to stress underneath the tool that in no way intend for the tool to be a replacement for KT, and that its not going to be 100% accurate. The last thing I want is to take away donations from a game that is worked so hard on. But I do feel its the one KT tool that can sometimes unbalance the game when there are some vile conditions over a weekend.

Thanks for the feedback though, i'm off to continue working on it now :)

CCYoshi's 'Adjective-Less (and Paradoxical)' Istanbul Race Report

GTPF1 S7 Grand Prix of Istanbul Champion: Beyens, Ferrari
Ferrari's first win and only third podium - but at least it was very impressive. Beyens had a trouble free race (only issue was resolved under a timely SC). Could he be finally building momentum a bit late - a 3rd place followed by a first!

Silver Medal: Haswell, Renault
Capitalizing on McLaren's sudden lack of pace, two straight podiums for Blake has smashed open a 14 point lead in the championship. A simple race where he was always contending - luckily he doesn't have to worry about Beyens in the championship however...

Bronze Medal: Butler, Williams
The strong but yet oddly silent driver is on fire! 4 points finishes in 5 races, and this one from the back! The Williams team has proven to be very fast...when they feel like it.

Points Get!
4th: Whitcomb, Renault (Strong finish for Renault. Led early but couldn't keep up after the first stop.)
5th: Domingues, BMW (As usual, point scores from the back - Bruno has always been good at that!)
6th: Horton, McLaren (Had mid-race issues but managed to score some points to "lessen" the blow of yet another Haswell podium.)
7th: Davidson, Honda (Quick early in the race but slid back late, barely grabbing 2 points.)
8th: Hutchinson, Ferrari (On track for 5th until he spun with 5 to go. Hung on by his teeth for the final point.)

Knocked Out:
Surprisingly short list this time.
McLaren, McLaren (Lap 6): Discovered rather abruptly that steering stopped functioning - i.e. before a fast corner. Brought out the SC. Doubled retirement total in only 2 races!
Smith, Midland (Lap 25): Also victim to a DNF streak of late, this time got taken out by Taylor while fighting just outside of the points. Never anger a lady.

'Where were you before?' Award: Beyens + Butler
Two suddenly quite hot drivers with both the same amount of points (25). Unfortunately their discovery of pace has come a bit late, with both drivers well out of the championship fight.

Defining Moment: McLaren gets pwned, again
Mechanics have ruled this championship - they giveth wins, but mostly they taketh away cars. In many small pieces. McLaren had an entertainingly messy mechanical failure that he really can't afford to have right now.

Championship Picture: 4 Races Remaining:

The Leader:
1st: Haswell, 68 points (The current leader, and on a hot streak too. He just needs to keep his pace and avoid mistakes. Can Blake take home the championship after a middling last season?)

The Chasers:
2nd: Horton, +14 (The opposite of Blake: hitting a bad run of luck and losing a bunch of points. The gap can be closed quickly with a reversal of fate however...)
3rd: Smith, +23 (An unlikely underdog fueled by the Midland magic. Quite a bit out at the moment. However, almost every time he finishes he scores; although he can't finish much recently)

The Dreamers:
4th: Domingues, +28 (Has finally begun finishing, and finishing strong. Always a contender in individual races, but will need a lot of prayer to come close to winning.)
5th: McLaren, +28 (Same situation as Domingues, in that he needs incredible reams of luck. His current string of DNFs isn't helping.)

The Statistics:
6th: Kawasie, +34 (Proved the motto 'Anything can happen' true last season, charging from twenty-plus to only a few points out, but couldn't get the job done. Will need a lot more work to make it happen this season though.)
7th: Whitcomb, +35 (Doesn't help that he's Blake's teammate, either.)
8th: Mason, +38 (Will need to systematically destroy all cars in front of him.)
9th: Davidson, +39 (Needs to rally the entire country of Britain and their lost racing ambition behind him; even then it may not be enough)
10th: Paajanen, +40 (Could win on a tiebreaker; if he wins all 4 it'll be enough...)

For those of you not in the GTP V8s:
gtpv8ses2.png

Yes, I should be leading the championship, but due to retirements, I'm not. :indiff:

As you can see, I won the Clipsal 500 round, and utterly dominated the Winton round :D

And a good job you did at that, Blake.

Anyone up for a public game? My F1-86 just ended, would like to get a public game with a teammate for once. (Total laps turned by teammate in 2 public games: zero! >.>)
