Hyper-secure

And yep, Nigel is pretty arrogant. Absolutely loves Soft tyres in his enduros. Despite the fact that I'm owning the field on Hards, he follows his own strategy - Hard-Soft-Soft. Any of you had expirience with him that you know him that much?

And Brad, I reckon you can - but why go Spyker? That'll be even worse...

Yeh, Nigel thinks his "The S**t", if you get what I mean.

I smashed him hard in my LMES season. He had more retirements than any other whole team. And his team mate never retired!!!

New track designed for "Formula BATracer", or whatever...

Based on the streets of Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast.

Yep, suits him alright - the damn guy didn't podium once - yet qualifies 0.5 ahead of everyone else. Retirements, tyre-burning, you name it.

Dave Carr Smith - Multi KT Accounter to the max, but very much clued into the game. Teamed with him in Champcars and helped me have a pretty good season for me. lol

Ed Williams - Another good guy that Lee and I race against in the Real Life Batracer series.

I noticed he's with me in F1 2007, Champcar, BTCC, BATSevens and a few more. He hasn't missed a single session in any of them.

So, looks to me like we'll have to invite them again since nobody new signed up for the series, and all the regulars signed up. Will Matt be joining us?

I haven't seen Matt online for a while, but I'll get in contact with him and ask him about it.

He was on MSN yesterday, didn't reply though. Last contact with him was about 3 days ago concerning the Nissan R89C template.

lol I joined an F1 07 game midseason for Bahrain in the Honda. Stuck it 3rd in qualifying.

Gingiba, I've added you to msn to any recent adds might be me.

May patch

he patch for May includes a lot of invisible tweaks to the engine to reflect a change in the game player density since the introduction of mid-season games.

Race Changes
The dramatic reduction in AWOL players has changed the gameplay and made the game more competitive than ever. Unfortunatly, this had the unforseen impact of making penalties of random events more costly because the number of cars that would often profit from mishap is now roughly double than a few months ago before mid-season games were introduced.

As a consequence, the effect of random events has been changed in two main ways - firstly it has generally been reduced overall. Secondly, and of greater interest to players is that the impact of sliders is now more dramatic. However, please remember these events are still triggered by a combination of factors - so if you are driving an unreliable car you will need to allow for this, or indeed if you are driving on a notoriously tricky circuit you should still think about packing your pace off a little and staying well away from some of the race strategy features that cause you to push harder.

The cause of events in BATracer is still a very complex process and can never be pointed at one particular thing - however as ever with good planning and foresight you can adjust your sliders to minimize risk and maximise your performance and bring home the top points.

Collisions

Generally the rate of collisions has been reduced by 1/3rd. This is a vast simplification of the changes that have been made, but reflects the rate of collision in testing. Previously collisions were the dominate form of retirement in many championships and left too much emphasis on the sliders of other drivers.

Driver Pace and Driver Error

The influence of the pace slider has became more stark. There is a 20% greater emphasis on the players slider settings. The slider "curve influence" is now steeper with reduced penalty at bottom end. There is less influence of circuit difficulty.

Mechanical Failure (race only, not qualifying)

The influence of the mechanical sympathy slider has became more stark. There is a 10% greater emphasis on the players slider. Slider "curve influence" is now steeper with very low penalty at bottom end. Engine reliability has became less of a factor, however - influence of the base car reliability and historical circuit statistical retirements are unchanged.

Race Starts

The chance of bad starts and stalling has been reduced overall. Furthermore the influence of the sliders has became more prominent. Finally the "die-rolls" for these events were incorrectly made with an integer model accounting for up to 10% increased-rate of incident than originally intended!

Other Stuff!
# A preliminary implementation of driver sackings has been introduced - see separate news.

# The number of practice runs awarded to mid-season players has been reduced from 20 to 12.

The rest of the changes focus on minor additions to the functionality or display of the profile page:

# Newbies may not add profile comments.

# All profile comments are now shown - deleted ones are displayed censored (with a link to who posted it) instead of not shown at all. Previously deleted comments however cannot be recalled (they really were deleted!).

# If a player has been subject to a temporary ban, the time of their "release" is now shown on the profile page for the benefit of other players.

# Sacking statistics are now shown on a users profile, both for the number of times they have initiated a sacking, and the number of times they have been sacked.

Yeah the GTS's are nuts in the wet, I saw an Aston take second overall in mine and Appie's last LMES game.

Now for an update on my BTCC game..

Yep, it's almost there, aslong as I don't loose 4 points to second in the next race, it's deffinatley mine.

To say I'm nervous about that game is an understatement..
:scared:

If you think that's crazy, my last wet race saw a GT win overall, GTS 2nd - by 25 seconds, LMP1 3rd - by a further 50 seconds, and the lead LMP2 was in 21st place - 3 laps behind!!!

That's why wet races should never be taken seriously in BATracer. Eg. Magny Cours in the last 2006 season... Monique won in a Super Aguri (the old crap one) by 20 odd seconds in a storm... from starting 21st.

This is the same girl that doesn't understand why tyres wear quicker in racing than on road cars. Or why all the cars use a racing-line instead of driving on the other side of the road so that they can overtake. Or how cars in A1GP can overtake, or be quicker/slower if each car is exactly the same.

W00t! My first public title is in the bag! Finished the season with 84 points, got both drivers and constructors title

I'm now ranked 531st :D

If this was a different series, you've retired at the last lap

And the GTP Season is sealed 👍

Folks, how would you start an LMES GTS race in Drizzle? It tells me "You need a setup suitable for bone dry conditions.", but I reckon that's not hinting at anything? I'm not sure whether to convert my setup, leave it, or start on Inters.

That's the fun part of rainy enduros :sly: Where it says "you need a setup for bone dry" refers to the current warmup session, so you can disregard that.

As for the race itself, start on Inters, of course, even if you gamble on the setup, you don't want get started on the wrong tires and force a pit (but check those sliders to make sure they fit!). I would say to not go for a straight conversion and rather gamble on something drier or wetter, but that's just kamikaze me talking :dopey: It's really your call as to what to do with it.

Also, props to Bram on the championship 👍

Usually happens when you've finished practicing. Means it's going to be a dry race. :)

That's what I tought, David - I rememeber on other wet races, that "guide" told me I need a setup for Suitable for [Insert Matching Wet Condition]. So does that actually hint as possibilities of a drying race? Nice... :D

Drizzle is 4-degree wet. I haven't been in a almost-dry race before, so I'm not sure about the sliders yet - they're at the stock 0-50-100 for me. 0-40-75 seems more suitable, right? After all, Wets are responsible for a much wider range, and Drys are for just two weather-types. Perhaps even 0-30-70...

EDIT: I re-read the post, and realized they only tell it after I finished practicing. I did indeed not finish my Practice, as my teammie found all the remaining spots. So now I "Need a setup Suitable for Drizzle". :ouch:

Still betting on a drying race, so I made my setup only 16% Wetter, rather than the full 27% Drizzle conversion-rate. Starting on Inters, with a 0-30-70 Tyre-change slider and '30' in the "When on wrong tyre' slider.
