9 drivers already for the V8 Supercars. Not bad going so far.

Due to urgent family reasons beyond his control, Damien Adams (my now former flatmate) has pulled out of the F1'06 season. He may return in time but for now the 2nd Super Aguri has been set to '0' aggression to keep it out of the way.

I don't know if we'll get a full field for the V8 series. We seem to struggle to find enough for the smaller series so I suggest that if we haven't filled it within a few days we advertise on the BATRacer forums to fill the remaining spots.

By the way, be prepared for a lot less feedback from setup laps - Jules set it to ~50% of normal. Opening laps are like soap operas too!

Guinea pig update - 2nd race at Adelaide went well. 20th up to 11th was pretty good. Hows this though - the top 5 drivers all made up over 20 places during the race, about half of which was overtaking! I'll let you know how the reverse race goes at the next round, but you should now have a good idea of how close this series will be.

Yea... we've all found that out :grumpy:

Yeah, not happy! :grumpy: :ouch:
You either set risk low and get a few values or set risk high and crash. lol

Yuuji's Race Report: The Nurburgring

Ah, the Nurburging. Such a scenic and historical place. The circuit, all 13 miles of it - a very tricky and long drive. The trees - hurt a lot when you run into them. And the name - sounds like something I'd get at McDonalds.

But for the Formula 1 race it's on quite a shorter circuit. It's still fun, but hey, I love racing cars: I don't think I legitimately can say I hate any track. Now, can I say I hate driving certain cars? Very much so.

The race started eerily similar as many previous races. My teammate qualified an impressive 2nd, and I was in the top 10 (7th). The 2 Ferraris, a Renault, and both Midlands surprisingly laid ahead of me.

The start went quite well. I gained a place simply because I moved forward on the start - as opposed to the polesitter, who appeared to start in reverse. He fell well behind me and many others.

Otherwise not much happened around me for a few laps until lap 6, where the Japanese cars of Toyota and Aguri went at it. The guided missile of the Aguri emerged victorious, and the safety car came out.

The ensuing period of tedium and the restart were rather uninteresting, and I gained a spot when a Renault pitted surprisingly early from 2nd.

But then once again a Midland stuffed itself into the sand and the safety car came out for the 2nd time. During the caution period I was surprised to see a Red Bull sitting on the side of the road. It didn't seem to have any problems but the driver was out of the car.

The green flag came back out on lap 22 and I was subsequently shuffled up and down the order through pit stops - when I pitted I rejoined in 5th.

And then the safety car came out once AGAIN for something exciting that happened involving a Toyota, a stuck right petal and lots of shiny metal debris. It went away on lap 28 and I was up in 4th, with my teammate 2 spots behind.

Once again pitstops came and went and eventually our BMW team was running a 1-2 about 2/3 through the race. Good stuff!

Behind us, a Ferrari appeared to digest itself and its engine, and was another contender out of the race. A lap later one of the Renault begun the same process, but continued on.

The next lap my teammate dived into the pits, leaving me to the lead. However, I managed to pull the steering wheel out of it's socket while driving down the main straightaway. I subsequently put it back in upside-down and driving the rest of the lap was kind of a pain.

I decided to pit to have the team correct this issue in ways I couldn't do at 200 miles an hour, and rejoined with a slim lead over my teammate.

On lap 47 a Honda went splat for reasons that are still leaving them scratching their heads.

2 laps later a Renault got in touch with its natural side and subsequently damaged the undertray of the car, forcing it to pit next lap.

And so it looked to be BMW's first 1-2 of the year. Great stuff! ...and then things ground to a halt again with Chang's car spitting lots of nasty stuff out the exhaust. Once again, he was forced to retire. I find it really strange that it's happened again. I don't know what the team's doing to him.

Luckily, the rest of the race settled down and was rather boring and I drove away to a 15-second win. Break out the champange!!

Only because my teammate has gone A.W.O.L!

Sorry dude, i was wacked out on the sofa at my girls place with a stinking hangover. I'm back now and have got all but 3 spot ons in my practice. :)

I have a little bit of outside help in the V8 Game. :D

(Spoilers)

Kawasie Storms To First Win.

BMW Driver, Yuuji Kawasie, took home his first grand prix win at Nurburgring. It was made all the more impressive by starting from 7th place. Midland's Brad Horton took pole, the first man to knock Blake Haswell off pole position. Starting alongside Horton was Yuuji's team mate Chang after a impressive display. Reigning champion Blake Haswell started 5th, just ahead of his team mate Simon Trendell in 6th. Lee Davidson's luckless season continued, starting a low 12th.

As the lights went out, Horton was swamped up by the rest of the field losing 7 places in the process, Trendell made a fantastic start jumping to 2nd. The start also saw the first casulty of the race when Appie Charkaoui in the Toyota collided with Lloyd Ramos' Williams causing the veteren to drop out with terminal damage, Charkaoui managed to continue. On lap 5, Trendell managed to pass Herman Chang for the lead with many other battles raging in the middle of the field.

One of these was between Brett Edwards in the Super Aguri and Jarrett Allman in the Toyota, they were running very close to eachother for a number of laps before Allman tried a dive up the inside into Turn 1. Unfortunatley Edwards failed to notice the attempt and the two collided, Edwards was fine to continue but Allman's Toyota suffered a broken suspension and would play no further part. After the resulting saftey car period, Beyens in the Renault managed to jump Chang on the restart moving into 2nd place, Marc Pianelli suffered a poor restart losing places to Ashley Butler and Pianelli's team mate, Lee Davidson. It appeared the Renault team made a mistake however as Beyens had to pit the very next lap, why he didn't pit during the safety car period, no one will know.

It turnt from bad luck for Beyens into cruelty as the very next lap saw Brad Horton loose his Midland and collide with the tyre wall, thus bringing out the safety car for the second time, as the accident took place, Davidson managed to pass both Edwards and Hutchison to move into 7th. Whilst the safety car was out, the Red Bull of Taylor pulled up by the side of the track, it was later released that a clutch failure was the cause. On Lap 16 the saftey car dived back in releasing the cars back to racing, the top 9 didn't change with Owens forcing his way into 10th place.

Yuuji Kawasie

Lap 19 saw Davidson pit showing his fast pace was due to a light fuel load dropping him back down to 16th and last. 4 laps later and the safety car was out once again this time due to Charkaoui's Toyota stopping on track with a throttle failure. This became a nightmare for some of the drivers as they now became stuck behind 1 stoppers, especially Trendell who was leading the race but was now 6th. Lap 27 was when racing resumed and 3 laps later the leader, Christopher Owens pitted giving the lead to Richards in the sole Red Bull. Simon Trendell managed to climb back up into 2nd via overtaking Kawasie on lap 32 with his team mate Blake Haswell being jumped by Lee Davidson in the Honda 4 laps later, however, the Aussie would soon get his place back as Davidson pitted for the final time on lap 38.

Trendell pitted on lap 40 losing 1st place and dropping to 4th, that would be the final lap he would complete though when on the very next lap (41) the Ferrari's oil pressure dropped significantly meaning the car rolled to a hault. A obviously distraught Trendell walked back to the pits with his head hanging low. The same problem hit Jef Beyens aswell but not as badly, he lost some speed but was able to continue. Lap 44 saw Yuuji Kawasie pit after complainging of steering wheel issues, a new one soon sorted that out. He came out in the lead still ahead of team mate Chang with Davidson a strong 3rd.

Pianelli Lighting Up The Track.

Marc Pianelli's race came to a abrupt end when a suspension failure caused his Honda to set alight on lap 47, he was seen showing a fist at the Honda pit wall expressing his dissapointment in the car's pace. Lap 54 saw yet more dissapointment, this time for BMW when Chang pulled up with the same oil pressure problem that hit both Simon Trendell and Jef beyens. He sat at the side of the track for the rest of the race, surely thinking what might have been.

Kawasie went on to win a very action packed race, he won with a margin of 15 seconds ahead of lee Davidson in the Honda. 3rd was Blake Haswell, his first podium finish of what has been a dissapointing season.

Haswell Checks His Car Post-Race.

The result ment Kawasie took the lead in the drivers championship whilst BMW overtook Midland for the lead in the constructors. Next up for the teams is Catalunya, Spain where Kawasie will surely be looking to hold off his rivals to keep his championship lead.
