So that's the championship standings with 3 to go, lets see what's happening:

Mathmatically, 9 people can win the championship outright, 11 people counting a tied championship. Realistically it's between 4 people, Kawasie who has led the championship for quite a while, Beyens has been his thorn in the side, stealing points here and there, Trendell has been consistantly there or there abouts but lately has started to fade and Haswell who had a nightmare start to the season but has came back to form in the second half.

Bee's odds for championship:

Kawasie: 5/1 (Fav)
Beyens: 11/1
Trendell: 11/1
Haswell: 10/1

Behind them there's Chris Taylor in the Red Bull, all by his lonesome, then Soyfu in the Midland suprisingly out performing his team mate. Then there is 6 drivers covered by only 4 points starting with Jason Richards in the 2nd Red Bull, enjoying good pace and overtaking, tieing with him is Brett Edwards suprising many in the low powered Super Aguri. Davidson is a point behind them in the Honda, fairly inconsistant but most of his finishes has been in the points, then 2 points further behind is Herman Chang who had a great start to the season but has been blighted with reliability problems resulting in 7 DNF's. Tied with him is Duncan Hutchison, who appears to be cursed on track, the Brit is followed by Australian Brad Horton who has struggled with pace in the Midland.

Bee's odds for 7th place in championship:

Richards: 6/1
Edwards: 5/1 (Fav)
Davidson: 8/1
Chang: 11/1
Hutchison: 10/1
Horton: 16/1

Then the two McLarens follow with Butler leading team mate Owens. The Williams of Steve Travis has hardly ever been in contention but done well at his home GP at Indy, Marc Pianelli follows in a hugely dissapointing season at Honda. Jarrett Allman has had a tough rookie season but has atleast scored 6 points in the Toyota, Damien Adams was on par with team mate Brett Edwards for the opening races but quickly faded to the back of the pack. The race for the wooden spoon is a 2 horse race, both veterans, Lloyd Ramos in the WIlliams and Appie Charkaoui in the Toyota, both have came close to scoring a point or two but have sadly failed to take off.

Some punters have already took bets for season 4, here are the latest odds:

Haswell: 10/1 (Jt Fav)
Kawasie: 10/1 (Jt Fav)
Trendell: 11/1
Beyens: 11/1
Davidson: 13/1
Richards: 13/1
Taylor: 13/1
Horton: 13/1
Hutchison: 15/1

Whoa, "the other Midland", my BMW mate and Bee all in the top 3? That's pretty interesting.

Only Blake's second start out of the top 5 :embarrassed: And Trendell's down there too. What happened, Ferrari? And don't give me any of that "we'll be faster on race day" stuff >:D

Now if this was a real F1 race, I'd be pissed that I'd have 2 Renaults right in front of me, because DQuan would block me and Sting would race to the front. But this is BATRacer, so I figure I'll crunch one in the wall and run off unscathed  only kidding

We'll see what happens in the race...

WEATHER SUCKS EDIT: Now where's our wet weather warriors? There are none, that's right. And come to think of it, when's warmup? Isn't it the same day as the race?

"Forecast for the morning is 100 degrees and completely dry. Later in the day the weather will turn to slight sprinkles, with showers, moderate rain, severe rain, torrential storms, and finally complete flooding by race time at noon."

OK, what the heck is this weather-wise? (and don't say "very bad")

But it is!

It's "storm" on the wet-weather-meter, and according to the adjustment chart it's 100% wet. Basically, any more rain and we'd have the Pacific Ocean Grand Prix on our hands.

Any bets on whether it goes back to bone dry by lap 2? ^^

Ah, thanks.

*runs off to apply fully wet setup changes*

edit: Would the reason I scored 2 DNF's in a row be attributed to the fact I have/had pace set to 100?

Maybe you can put that secret nitrous tank in the Williams next season then ;)

edit: GTP F1 cars, arranged in order of relative performance (red + blue):
performers1gl.jpg

As you can see, the fastest cars (Renault + Ferrari) are performing as expected. Then you go third and second from the bottom (Red Bull and Midland respectively). The fourth and fifth placed teams in the championship are in some of the slowest cars in the series :D

Uh, what happened to Ferrari? Simon hasn’t been playing for a few days, and I forgot to setup my car before I went to bed last night. I expect improvements in the race, though. My setups are typically very good in the wet. :D

Now, the teams arranged by outright fastest car:

Again, the Midlands and Red Bulls prop up the field - but doing it a whole lot faster than they should be :D

i have a survey.
Who do you set as your main rival the most?
For me, it is the person who is one place before me.
But this race, its Beyens, because I can't let him spoil my teammate's win :)

Yeah, but did you load my setup? Send me your parameters please. :)

*edit* Nevermind. I had it spot on.

... and now for something completely different...

GTP F1'06 Series

Following my 2 podiums, I've dropped a little off the pace again. A 7th and a 5th leave me tied for 7th in the series and with a mathematical chance of the trophy (yeah, right).

GTP V8 Series

Still going strong but I'm now in 2nd. I jinxed myself in my last update post and managed a DNF before coming back with a 1st and a 5th. Bugger all difference between 1st and 2nd, and a 3-way fight for 3rd. Plenty of rounds left for me to completely lose the plot and finish last.

V8 Guinea Pig Series

Not as good as I hoped but still clinging to 7th. I have to run at high aggression now just to make passing moves. It seems like everybody is doing the same speeds so we all need an edge to get by. My team mate has found some good speed (better than me) so I'm hoping some will rub off soon.

Champcar Series

Just started but already qualifying well. Looks like I've picked both a dud partner and a newbie so I'll possibly struggle for a while.

GTP-exclusive interview with Yuuji Kawasie

Mr. Interviewer Person: And so we're here with Formula 1 rookie sensation Yuuji Kawasie, Yuuji, what's it like leading the championship with two races to go in your first season?
YK: It's really sort of unreal, if you ask me. I certainly wasn't expecting to do this good this season - maybe I'm just having a little bit of luck. Still, I have to say, that nothing is certain - all I need is to run into something like Beyens did today and then things will be quite different.

MI: Speaking of today's race at Shanghai, you pitted four times, all under green flag conditions. Why?
YK: Well, it's really kind of unfortunate. We set up our car for mostly wet conditions, but it was like driving through a river out there. We started on full wets still, but it started to dry up, so I came in to put partial wets on. But then it started to pour again, so I came back for another set of full wets. And then it dried up a bit...by the end the conditions were just perfect and I pulled the fastest lap of the race, but I fell just short of making up 37 seconds on the last lap.

MI: Two races to go - who are you keeping your eye on?
YK: Honestly, my vote would go to Blake Haswell, the Ferrari guy, as the closest contender. He's had a really hot streak lately, 3 podiums in 3 races, so I think I'll have to watch out. His teammate Trendell has also been challenging recently, but he failed to score today along with Beyens of Renault. Both of them are still major threats though.

MI: Teams to watch next season - any opinions?
YK: Well, of course I'd put BMW first, since I'm all full of it and stuff. I'd also put money on McLaren - my teammate Chang is moving there along with Lee Davidson [Honda], both of them have shown remarkable pace, Chang pulled a great 2nd place at Shanghai today. Reliability there especially at McLaren would be spotty but if they stay healthy I'd watch out. And of course Renault is keeping both drivers for next season and given that both of them are doing quite well this year...

MI: Next race is at home in Japan, how do you feel about that?
YK: Very nervous, actually. I mean, I'm leading the championship, sure, but mess up in front of the crowd at home and the press will tear me into little tiny pieces. All the pressure really is kind of getting to me, I keep feeling like I'm due for a retirement - pretty much everyone else has bit it in the last 4 races. But, I'm also happy to race there, the crowd really gives you a source of energy and pride. I hope I won't let my fans down.

MI: Alright, thank you for your time, Yuuji.
YK: No problem.

That race just plain and simple sucked. Sorry to Jef for messing up his chances in the first quarter. 👍
