Hellz to the yeah.

Don't worry. I once had one of those - following by a pit-for-repairs on the next lap.

Lap 16: I pit, SC comes out
Lap 17: I pit in response (3-stop strategy), I am concerned with electronics
Lap 18: I pit for repairs.

I just won Oran Park Race 3 in the Paul Cruickshank solo V8 :D Won by 2.402 seconds (podium was all Ford :embarrassed:)

Was always fourth or better in the race. Jumped from P7 to P4 at the start, P3 on lap 4, safety car came out on lap 22, pitted from second on lap 23 as a result, came out second XD Overtook the leader (who didn't pit under the SC) on lap 29, and led from there (a further 24 laps) :D

But now I'm at Sandown... eep.

Hey, if you guys happen to have a series running in the near future - by the sound of things one is already going (and all my slots are full) - would I be able to join in? I'm not the highest-ranked player (I'm 14xx or so), but I'd love to race against the people who introduced me to the game; if it wasn't for this forum, I'd never have found BATracer.

Nice. 👍 Too bad it's always guinea pig games first, so people like me get hyped up but have nowhere to join.

So, what are the mechanics of MR2? (i.e. anything that differs it)

We have one kind of tyre (in the road class) - no wet, so it's probably the same one for everything.

Every race has a different rule - some are two short sprints, some are two enduros, some have a reversed grid.

Three cars in Race, four in Road (assuming the MR-2 MkIII differs in the Hardtop and Softtop versions :P).

One lap of qualifying, three points for it.

That's what I noticed so far. Here's the full "Series Info" page:

MR2 Carset Description
Series Information

This is a ficticious championship based on MR2 sportscars, a popular Toyota mid-engined affordable car.

Like the V8 Supercars carset, the MR2 championship features reduced setup feedback during the practice and warmup phases of an event.

Road and Race Class

The road class are very similar to real MR2s, the race class is loosley based on the GT300 Japanese level, but the cars are significantly slower to keep the gap between the two classes sensible.

The road cars are much more reliable than the race going models, and also have significant tyre differences (see below). The net result of these differences produce two significantly different ways to experience the MR2 championship.

Championship Background

The championship has a varied format which will reward the drivers that can adapt to the new challenges that they face. The most common race format is a sprint and then a feature race. However, there are 3 special reverse grid races and also numerous endurance races. Often the starting order for a race will be based on the finishing order from the previous one, but whenever a new venue is visited the drivers always enjoy a full qualifying session, some of which are single lap tests - others are a full qualifying session.

All points for race successes are equal regardless of if its a short sprint race or an endurance race. This does mean there are events where points are harder or less work, and its up to the drivers to exploit this or decide when to take risks.

Points

1st = 20
2nd = 14
3rd = 10
4th = 8
5th = 6
6th = 5
7th = 4
8th = 3
9th = 2
10th = 1

In addition, there are bonuses available for the following:

Pole = 3
Laps Led = 3
Fastest Lap = 3

Regular BATracers will note these bonuses are much larger than in other carsets and introduces a possibility of boosting championship chances by adopting other strategies.

Tyres and Classes

There are two classes, Road and Race. The Road class is significantly different, with only one tyre which never wears out during a race. There are differing tyre quantities depending on the event - organisers have provided additional sets of tyres to be made available for endurance races. The road class has a significantly easier time in setting up their car and does not have to worry about weather changes as much as the drivers in the race class.

Refuelling

Refuelling always takes place at each pitstop and the car is initially fuelled with enough to make it through the first stint. The impact on laptime is less pronounced than in other series.

Good to know, sounds like a pretty good mix of events and cars.

Word is on the forums that there's two empty spaces for carsets on the splash screen (when you're not logged in), so keep your eye open for another potential guinea pig ... assuming that Jules doesn't like to leave a non-centered layout. :lol:

(Not responsible if you get locked for refreshing :P)

I noticed that space, and wondered what's up with it. MotoGP? DTM? PRAY, YOU PEASANTS!

EVERYBODY! Jules has woken up! MR-2s are released, and I'm in it :D

All hail my two-minutes livery!

Would love to know why Matt Simons is using my SuperSonic livery. lol

Our current season is nearing the end - at Fuji, I believe? You're welcome to join, we need new guys desperately :P
Thanks. I just got an invite to a ChampCar private game with the Mark Webber Forums (even if I'm in the Honda Clan), which hasn't started just yet and as I don't have KT - or the money to buy it - all my private game slots are full. But if you keep me posted, I'll gladly join a GTP game in the future. All the people over at MWF - except one of them, the person who invited me - are whingers.

Is this a Private game? I got a few slots open there. And I'm thinking of using the last Public slot I currently have available on a LeMans Series.

Makes me wonder if anyone is gonna use the SuperGT/JGTC Autobacs livery on their MR-2.

Anyone up for making a few GTPlanet liveries for the cars in the MR-2 Series? It'll be interesting to see what they look like.:)

Also, I hear it's pretty much a 2 driver race going into the last 2 rounds of GTPF1 S15. And I'm feeling pretty confident with my 2nd place showing at Fuji.:D:tup:

Hey, does anyone know how to get out of a private game before it starts? I signed up for a Mark Webber Forum game (only because I know some of the members), but we then decided to make an MWF vs. Honda clan battle to test the new carset. I was the one who created it, but I can't join as I don't have Kool Tools, and I'm wondering how I get out of the current MWF game which will be going ahead as planned ...
