By the way, is there any way to quit the game after it's given you your ribbons for the last match, or do you have to wait until the next map has loaded before you can leave the lobby?

Nope, only by quitting game via xmb. It's a real pita if you ask me. Often you'll see your squad diminish to only a few at the start of a round as everyone quits to the menu.

Cheers Shaun.

I actually thought it was a really clever ploy to get you to stay in for 'just one more round' as you struggle to find the off button.

Whereas MW3 makes it very easy (and tempting) to quit at any time whilst in between games, BF3 makes it impossible, almost, and therefore I find myself going: "Oooooh look, it's Caspian up next.... I did want to try and get up that tower and get a massive headshot marxman bonus.... maybe just one more map....."

Damn you DICE, I have other things to do this year.... but ... they ....just ....won't......get...done.......

It's like the guys at DICE said "hmm, these choppers are great, but our new SAMs are quite good. Hey I know! Let's use IR flares. And let's make them the very first unlock! Screw you SAM lol!".

Now I've figured out most guys are really jumpy on the flares. I get a lock and even if they hold off for a second they usually deploy the flares after a few seconds of lock. That's when I still sit there with my loaded Stinger and lock again

Haven't played in a couple days! Been playing my new Need for Speed Shift. Probably play a few games tonight again though.

I do the same thing. Don't fire till after they release their flares. Or better, have two people firing in rhythm. First missile is diverted, second hits the plane/heli. 1st person reload and makes a second hit. Easy 👍

You are a god! I want an HD PVR but I'm piss poor. So all I've got now is an EasyCap that records at 25 fps :p

haha, got a bit of a discount because a good friend of mine works at a computer store that sells them. But other than that, I just used my money I made from working all summer :D

Finally purchased an HD PVR. So i'm gonna be able to record and upload games in HD now :D

Oh nice. I've got an HD PVR here but with the model we've got I can't take anything to my computer.

True. I still don't know though if chopper pilot can detect where a lock is coming from. When I try the approach described by CM, they tend to fly out of range/ behind buildings when I try lock on again. Coincidence or something more sinister I don't know..

Instead now I will SOFLAM them and then switch to Engi when I die and sort em out like that :D

You'll lose your SOFLAM when you spawn as an engineer. You'd need a buddy with the opposite item.

Anyone gotten the Javelin yet? We could squad up with one of each kit, have the Recon hold back and spot and lase with the SOFLAM. The other three could stay together: The Engineer uses the Javelin and takes out jets, tanks etc., the Support gives extra Javelin ammo and the Medic can revive and boost anyone's health if things go bad.

Of course, that's the theory :p

Discovered this the hard way when my team got demolished at Noshahr when Little Birds + other choppers absolutely clobbered us. So frustrating as the Stinger as hopeless mano a mano.

Also almost got the 🤬 MAV. Hate recon. Hate recon. Hate recon. Why do I want to unlock it you ask. Easy, so when my team is busy running around drifting jeeps and being Iceman leaving me to actually play the game for a losing cause, I dont have to quit, I can just sit in back play and spot and roadkill people. :banghead:

Feel like I'm slowly getting better at this

Couple of MVPs which was nice, still suck at most of the maps I don't know well enough though! Oh and the PP2000 is my new favourite toy..

Switch to the shotgun and run TDM for a little while, you'll soon boost any class with that combo.

You can move back and forth, just veeery slowly hehe. God knows how many times I fell off and died :(

Oh, and since people are talking about it. My longest headshot is only 274. I don't really like to hang that far back as recon personally. Even if i'm using my M98. More of the time I'm running around with that VSVAL? or an SKS with a hollow and suppressor.

Im usally running around Disarming and Arming MComs with my PDW. And when im not im usally planting my radio beacon to help my team win 👍:)

I got teamkilled by a stationary AA and a mortar in a row! And both were supposedly accidents

Is the PDW amazing or something?

That's strange. It must be an older model. I just have to find a way to get a Component Cable that either plugs into a box and switches to HDMI or a Component cable that changes into HDMI. I think my TV back home in Japan doesn't have component cables.

Micro Air Vehicle.

Basically those little robot flying machine things that are incredibly annoying/ distracting and sound like you are being attacked by a swarm of mosquitos.

Had a great game squadding up with a random today. We were on Canals CQ and he spawned in my Little Bird as I was trying to take down another chopper. Luckily he spawned as an engineer and repaired the heli as I was flying it. We managed to stay in the air for about 10 minutes (he died once but just spawned in the AH-6 again). We took down 3 choppers with me on Heat Seekers and him repairing when needed. And if one of us spotted a tank, I held the chopper steady so he could take it down with a SMAW. Probably the best teamwork I've had with a no-mic stranger :)

Do not like when enemy has.

Can someone give me the abc of how to work a SOFLAM?

a) Is it set and forget? When one deploys it, the viewfinder comes up, so does one need to actually manually spot targets or if a chopper flies by is it automatically designated?
b) What does a SOFLAM sounds like to a enemy pilot? Does the 'lock' alarm come on and stay on? And how to pilot know where to find enemy SOFLAMS? I set some today and the choppers hunted it down as if they knew exactly where it was.

If one has to manually designate, it seems like a lot of risk / work for a measly 30 points return if someone shoots something down :irked:

All true, but is it worth it to set targets manually, if they are tanx and you have a mate with the Javelwin waiting, who then takes them out with two hits?
That's the point of it Mike.
You need a mate with the other half of the weapon; the Javelwin.

I think everything you assume in the above post is true, so I would suggest you find some clever places to leave it, and consider it gone the moment you die anyway.
Alternatively, de-select it until we both come on together one time, and I'll use the javelwin, and you deploy your sof-lame somewhere and spot tanx for me, and we'll own us some tank driverzzz.....yo.

Daniel, what is with your avatar all of a sudden?

I haven't played anything in two days, as have been drinking and out with friends, but I come back here and he's staring at me........

USAS-12 with frag ammo is a beast.... Ive been averaging 20

* sorry for double post, on mobile... Anyway, 20+ kills per round with that thing... Got two service stars for it in two hours... LoL

Set it, run somewhere safe and remote operate it and manually spot,
when a chopper or a tank looks in the direction of the soflam, It shines a bright red laser at it, and the chopper guy will attack it,
Also the pilot hears the entire missle lock sound but no missile fire, until something is fired, some people actually freak out and it's hilarious!

Mike:

The SOFLAM works in that when you control it you can spot enemy vehicles (ground or air) for any guided missle including the javelin. You can set it and forget it in a main area if you like but it will only spot what is directly infrontbof of it.

The HUGE downfall to the SOFLAM is that it shines bright red when you point it at a vehicle no matter what distance. It's incredibly obvious and makes the thing pretty much useless.
