I would suggest a threat assessment if you consider spotting and leaving when decided whether or not to hunt down snipers in particular, are they in a position where they can harm your team? If not, are they holding a position which allows other enemy team-mates to spawn on them and capture your objective/become a threat? I would say with that particular position they will become annoying should you wish to capture or already own C, clear them out, still struggling to get B or A? Leave them alone and avoid staying still in their sightline, the time it takes to go get Recon players in CQ is often not worth it because alot of the time they pose no real threat. On the other hand they can become a real annoyance if they've covering useful positions, on top of A on Op Firestorm is a big problem.

I usually just think kill, kill, kill and kill some more while spamming ammo/health as much I can to my teammates. :) The thing I focus on most though is playing the objective, no matter if I die in the process, thats the most important to me and also yields a lot of points.

Back in BC2 I made knifing a sport, but in BF3 I rarely do it anymore due to reasons already stated above by Dragonistic. I usually end up getting killed trying to knife like I did back in BC2. Reading all the posts in here makes me wanna play some rounds tonight. Anyone going to be online?
 
In that situation, Mike, I would've just shot both of them. Everything else you did was sensible, but if there's more than one enemy around that you know about it's got to be the gun every time; knifing leaves you open and makes it clear that you're right next to the guy who just died. If you'd had a silencer on the M4 the other sniper may not have twigged that you were up there with them because they might have assumed that you couldn't have gotten so close without them noticing, but even without a silencer you could easily kill two enemies in the time it takes the second one to realise what's going on, get up, turn around and get close enough to knife you.

Better yet, you could've gone up behind one of them, shot the other one (you would've been able to take your time to aim at his head for a quick surprise kill) then quickly knifed the first one for ultimate 'you just got completely done' points. Sometimes when I happen upon a sniper (or group of) I'll deliberate over how to kill them. Once I said 'hello <name>' on the text chat, then when he said 'hello' back I just knifed him. Another time I dropped C4 next to a sniper, got pretty far away and shot it with the M27. Naturally I got accused of hacking because it came up as an M27 kill rather than C4, though I suppose that's fair enough.

Blitz, I should be on as well. Borrowed up Stephen kings newest dark tower book so I may pit some time into that tonight. Odds are ill be online instead ;)

Damnit. Double XP start tomorrow..... wife's going out tonight tho :( but she probably wont be home till late so I may get some 2xp for a court hours after midnight.

Be a good opportunity to use my server for helicopter boosting. Id rather "cheat" than pay for unlocks. Well technically if I do it on my server I did pay ;)
 
That was amusing, Rush at Damavand and on the first set of MCOMs (attacking) their chopper comes nose at me (I was sniping in them hills) pull out the M1911 we do a little dance in a circle as I fire random shots in to the chopper, 5th shot, boom headshot the pilot! :lol:

Highlight for me last night eas a cq on canals.
Enemy bird is taking B. I'm over the steel huts on the road to A and pull my RG. Line up the shot just as he is pulling up and away. FIRE.
At the exact moment I pull the trigger 3 more engi teammates do the same. One from the corner of the warehouse, one near the dumpster under the container loading bay and one from the water side of the 2 story building by the stacked pipes.

The contrails made a perfect X converging on the pile of ashes that was the little bird. Sadly, I didn't get the kill.

I don't know if the other 3 guys were communicating or even in each others squad, but it was a definite only in battlefield moment
 
Had a moment like that (but not quite as good) in a rush match on Tehran Highway. Me and a squad mate just happened to fire at a tank with javelins at the exact same time. Completely unplanned as I don't have a mic. Was pretty sweet though :)

Yeah, what you should do in those situations is climb up behind them.

Make a few funny DERP sounds, and teabag nothing in particular, then wait for your entire squad to spawn on you.
Then the entire squad should make some DERP DERP HERP sounds and teabag the SnIIpEEzzErS for a laugh.

Finally, you should drop some C4 on them and then teabag them properly, before killing both the 7335 snipers and yourself in one fell swoop.

Then upload the video to yootoob, because we haven't seen "Trollin dem noobs 6" yet.

Obviously.

I had the exact same situation tonight, Mike. at Firestorm, at B on the building next to the big road. I'd heard someone firing, went up the ladder, boom, right next to each other. Fortunately I had C4, I threw it, had time to run back, they still hadn't seen it. Watching them blow up was most amusing :)

I got kicked about a minute later.

Here's hoping the official servers get reinstated. There's one consistently good private server I've found. EA really do make it their mission to destroy a good thing.
 
Thanks for the thoughts guys 👍 Yea, knifing seems like the flaw in the plan there, if I had time to do that, I had time to unload a clip. Live and learn.

This double XP weekend sounds like balls. Why bother even having a ranking system if you can by the shortcuts and boost your XP on a rented server with 20 billion tickets.

This Premium service also sounds suck - if Premium members get access to more weapons, its like DLC, but not.

Also, protip: Driving a tank from RU deployment at Kharg....there is a tanker sitting in the road just as you turn left to head toward D. Dont drive into it :D. took me tank from 100% to 4%!

I bought it because its available and other people are buying it. Just like I am going to boost my recon this weekend to unlock some stuff too.

It still cheapens the achievements though, and lessens the game as a result.

Ditto, I did get kicked after I sniped there guy sat on A from C then I use my M1911 to get 2 guys who were trying to hold C from me, kicked.

Had some good rounds this evening with the usual crowd, honed my tank skills a little more seeing as I tend not to use them to often and it was totally worth it. Highlight was a great comeback against real tough opposition on Caspian with Apok, Theewar and VEXD, succeeding a tough loss (38-3 for me) on Seine and us all getting owned on Canals it was oh so satisfying to go from zeroes to heroes in the Caspian game. I ended up with 118% accuracy for the round somehow! Started us off on a comfortable winning streak, finishing on a flawless 20-0 Firestorm match for me with MVP as well at 7000+ points.
 
More 'Battlefield 3' DICE run servers after complaints about rented servers

DICE via Twitter on Friday stated that, "We'll be adding more servers & will reserve a percentage of them for players who prefer DICE servers. Thx for your patience!"

Electronic Arts also provided an official statement to GamesBeats about the issue.

"DICE is not shutting down servers. If DICE-managed servers appear unavailable, it is because they have been rented and customized by players. DICE will continue to add servers and will reserve a percentage of servers for players who prefer to connect through DICE-hosted servers.

Custom Servers have always been extremely popular with Battlefield PC players. With Battlefield 3, we&#8217;ve introduced a Custom Servers program to console gamers. Response has been overwhelmingly positive. Custom Servers gives players the ability to tailor the settings and parameters of a given server, which directly affects gameplay. Annoying, still it was good apart from that (well, apart from there being 8 of us in the team and not being able to be one big squad!), the first server we were on will be my first choice given the opportunity, good rounds until it went dead.
 
I must say, I am really not digging tanks since their "server update" patch; I much preferred them after the 'paper' patch. Somehow I've been 1 shot killed from the front by another tank twice, despite having 52% health on both occasions. One hit disables from the side are virtually impossible now too. Also, what does thermo camo do, I mean, it makes no noticeable different to how quickly Javs lock on compared to without it. Annoying.

Also tried to give the AK-74u a run as I am on the fence withe M1A4 M4A1. Man, I just cannot get on with it - at all.

I like the 74u as well, one of the very few guns where I prefer the iron sights to optics.
