That's what I thought of during the frag round epidemic ;)
It looks like you need either an ammo or Med pack sitting on it for the c4 to stick to.

Well, after a couple painful days with the last of the semi-auto snipers and full-auto shotguns, I now have at least one service star with all (primary) weapons.

Like the idea, how did you find the stinger/igla? It's not something I often use and even with about 10k kills, I've bout 20-30 with each.

Well, after a couple painful days with the last of the semi-auto snipers and full-auto shotguns, I now have at least one service star with all (primary) weapons.

Semi auto snipers, painful? The gun I have most kills with is the Mk11 Mod 0, but I use it with a silencer, holo and grip. It's awesome because it has good suppression, can kill in two hits and can get one hit headshots at a pretty decent range, the only downside is the silencer limits your effectiveness against fast moving targets at range. I win maybe 7 out of 10 1v1 fights with it, I love it. The other semi autos are much the same, but I think the Mk11 has the fastest reload.

I too am going for a service star per primary, I have 28 but that includes the .44 Magnum and I haven't even unlocked the L85 yet... I'm personally struggling with the LMGs and AS Val, I swear I always get outgunned when I use it no matter how I play. Once I managed to empty quarter of a magazine on one guy before he started shooting and he still killed me, with an MP7. Then again the MP7 is pretty nice, I think it was the first PDW I got a star with. First and only in fact.

As for shotguns, TDM is excellent, as is defending on Bazaar rush. I got 35 kills with the DAO-12 in one game on Kharg TDM which isn't even that many, but it was only 3v3. I'm never going to get a service star with either AA launcher nor the Jav, and I think C4 is the only gadget I might get a star for soon.

AS VAL, from my experience of it, has to be a sneaky weapon. It's hopeless at anything other than that. Room clearances where you can get in without being seen, but grenade won't work and knifing is too risky. Firestorm might be useful, with the many entrances to the buildings.

LMG needs their bipod, apart from the MG36. Just set it up with your LOS covering team mates/a choke point.

Was the AN-94 buffed? Tried it last nigt and it was BAWSS

I love the gun! Problem is, its long range and on most long range maps, there's normally a ton of vehicles coming down so I rarely ever get to use it. :(

WTF is Battlefield 1943....

off to yootoob....

EDIT: oh.

Well, if it's free......

Thanx Daniel.

:irked:👍

Daniel
Well you can't really complain if it's free

I can actually. Its the same thing if i came to your door and said: "Here is some s*it for you" you would say: "No thanks" id say: "Its free" and you would answer: "Oh, then, thanks!"

Touché :p
Well, I liked the game when I played it at a friends house. So I might as well get it.

Might give BF3 a play tomorrow. Still haven't redownloaded B2K since I've hardly played it since that ridiculous patch (what is it with DICE and huge patches?!) and it's a huge download.

You'll like it, Dave. The sniping's pretty easy :dopey:

So easy that they kill themselves? That's the sort of help he needs!

Damn them for supporting their product!!1111!!!!

I didn't mean it like that! It's just that every time there's a patch for any Battlefield it's always over a gb, which cab be pretty annoying when you've got limited bandwidth.

Thanks - to be honest, I have a hankering for some BC2 recently. I wonder if people still play that online....

Always packed rooms.

Just got BF 1943, I was planning on buying this soon anyway. Thanks for the heads up guys!

A noob's guide to BF3:

- If your tank takes 3% damage you must immediately abandon it. There’s no point sticking around and dying, that would just cost your team
a ticket.

- If an enemy runs up to your tank you must immediately abandon it, especially if they’re Assault or Recon. Having enemies stand around your tank is just weird and awkward.

- If the enemy abandons a vehicle you must immediately destroy it. The 50pts vehicle destroyed is much more valuable to your team than hijacking one measly tank. You have to be quick if your team is repairing it else you’ll miss your chance and you won’t get to show those guys the error of their ways.

- If you leave your tank in base all game you can surprise the enemy when you suddenly start using it in the last 30 seconds. The longer you leave your vehicles in reserve the less they'll be expecting them.

- If you’ve accidentally driven or flown off the map then just keep going until you die. Turning around or reversing would be is inconvenient so it’s usually not worth bothering with.

- As engineer you shouldn’t repair teammates vehicles without getting their express permission before hand. Messing with someone else’s ride just ain’t cool. Additionally there’s no point repairing a vehicle until it’s down to 10% health or so, it’s just a waste of time if they have more than
that. Oh and you may as well stop repairing when they get up to 96%, I mean that’s close enough isn’t it.

- As assault you must make a beeline to revive teammates that have died. It doesn’t matter if there’s 6 guys shooting at you the whole
time nor does it matter if you both get immediately killed right after... all that matters is scoring that revive.

- As assault and support you should only drop health/ammo for yourself. If other people want health or ammo then they should’ve gone
assault or support themselves. Idiots. Also you should destroy unattended health/ammo boxes that you see lying around, that way less savvy assault/support players don’t get taken advantage of from other players using their stuff.

- If you see an ally hiding in a corner on a enemy flag then it’s probably a good position and you and all your friends should probably go there yourself. By all crowding into the same corner you can all be as inconspicuous as each other.

- Always try to grab a vehicle at the start of the game if you don’t know how to use it or don’t know what to do. The start of the match is the most important so that’s when you’ll learn the most. Also Recon is the strongest kit for taking vehicles from spawn because not only can you use the vehicle for kills but using it as transport quickly allows you to reach your sniping perch. Note - If half your team dies when you jump out of your helicopter to land on a building, then it was their fault for sitting inside your helicopter.

- The bottom left of the screen houses your minimap. It is extremely important that you ignore it – it could provide an unhelpful distraction whilst playing.

- Reaction times are important so always engage the enemy as soon as you see them. If you see a guy running on the opposite end of the map then you should immediately light him up with whatever you're carrying, even if it's a PDW or a shotgun.. that way you'll have trimmed off maybe 20% of his health when he turns and kills you.

- Don't shy away from fights, that is the path of cowardice. I think we can all agree that sneaking past enemies to takes flags is underhanded and dishonorable. It also goes without saying that it is dirty to run away from an enemy tank just because you don't have any weapons that can cause it any damage.

- Always hit enemy vehicles head on. It’s not like shooting them in the side or the back will magically do more damage is it? Manoeuvring around enemy vehicles is just a waste of time.

- If you’ve taken a jet / helicopter and been shot down by enemy aircraft 17 times in a row then you must immediately jump in a new one and try to shoot them down. Patience and determination are important in the face of adversity so you shouldn’t give up just because they’ve killed you effortlessly time and time again.

- The most effective way to use a jet is to simply crash it into the enemy, this way you can circumvent all that aiming nonsense. Remember that real players are prepared to make sacrifices and that you can practice by repeatedly slamming into the ground or into lampposts.

- If the enemy has used countermeasures against your lock-on weapon the previous 35 times you fired then you must continue and persevere. Who knows, it might actually work next time.

- If the enemy has killed your vehicle using lock-on weapons the previous 35 times then they’re probably out of ammo so you probably don’t need to bother equipping countermeasures.

- If you’re killed and your vehicle is destroyed you should immediately respawn at base and wait for it. Vehicles are important in this game so you must make the best use of them rather than letting them languish in base for 2 whole seconds and if your team has to fight a man down in the meantime then so be it. If multiple people are waiting in base then this is extra effective because now the vehicle is even less likely to go unused.

- Always hijack your teammate’s vehicles at first opportunity, especially if they’re getting good scores. If someone is going 30-0 in a tank then that must be because the enemy team is weak, not because your tank guy knows what he’s doing. If you die within 0.2 seconds of stealing said
tank then that just means the other team started hacking. Also even if you only manage to hijack a gunner spot then that’s still a result because you’ll be able to rack up lots of lovely suppression assists.

- If you’re admining a server you must immediately kick any player who kills you twice. Killing you twice is clearly unfair and a good indicator that the player in question is hacking. Remember to send them an abusive message too, you need to be classy.

- If you manage break out of a spawn trap then it’s important to remember how much more productive it is to backstab 1 or 2 guys instead of taking a flag.

- If you’re killed twice then you should consider sniping from base. Your highly effective fire support is certain to turn the tides of battle much more than any objectives could. Remember going 3-2 over a 40 minute match still means a positive K/D. Think of all the spot assists you’ll be racking up too.

Well that noobs guide is bullsh@t.

It might be sarcastic for all i know but, never abandon the tank when enemy is next tobit. You wouldnt want to give away a free tank.

Always fix it to 100% because when it was disabled it will still be on fire when repaired to inly 96%.

Oh well. Let the noob callong begin

Daniel, did you like my little hop dance once I realised I got you :D

I hung around that Metro game for another 20 mins or so; it was a constant struggle for us to hold onto one flag and not get base raped. Got my 10th star for the PKP though, which I am happy with.

Tried the MP7 too, as I kept on running into one guy who kept on drilling me with one, but its got mad initial recoil on full auto and burns through a clip in no time.

I suppose my problem is the squads I usually run with are composed of clanmates and they never dig in, we always move from one flag to the next, so I rarely get a chance to deploy a bipod and as a result almost always use PDWs when I'm a support. That's especially useful because the PDWs burn through ammo very quickly... Maybe I'll have to play some Metro/Damavand/Bazaar only servers to get my LMG kills up, as much as I hate the meat grinder maps.

And yeah, I have yet to find a situation where I can use the AS Val, so maybe it's just not for me. I used to be quite good at being sneaky-ish but now I tend to get involved in full on gunfights all the time without even trying, it's kind of annoying because I prefer being sneaky! Anyway, I'm glad it's not just me struggling with it, I suspect it was nerfed in the patch though because I used to get killed by it a lot and it seemed quite overpowered.

I got BF1943 when it came out, it's great fun for casual play. I have quite a fun story from that game, actually, the short version being that my brother and I were on two separate PS3s in the same room, playing in the same server, and I basically helped him snipe a guy at such a range that my brother couldn't see him at all. Imagine trying to snipe from one carrier to the next on Wake Island, then double that range (remember what the draw distances are like on 1943), that's how far it was.

Oh and that guide is excellent, it's apparently quite popular given the number of tank jackings I've been able to pull off lately. It's amazing how people panic when you stand next to their tank, to the extent that they'll instantly hop out even though the different classes look as distinctive as they do. My current method of dealing with tanks if I'm assault or recon is to just stand next to them and wait for the tank on the map to turn white, and if I survive the run up to the tank it works maybe half the time (the other half of the time the driver manages to drive away quickly and shoot me).

One time I had a hilarious tank swapping fight with an enemy, it was damaged and I ran up to it (as an assault). He hopped out to kill me, I quickly hopped in but it was starting to die and he was an engineer, so I thought 'uh oh' and hopped back out. He hopped in, saw it was ready to explode, hopped back out practically on the end of my MP7, so I killed him and ran before the tank blew.

Oh and C4ing Drag twice yesterday was amusing. Particularly when I C4-d his BTR, he jumped out, looked at me and I detonated anyway.

C4 is hilarious.

Something I want to try as an Engi is to sneak up on tanks and jump up onto the actual tank (from the front) and repair tool it. Not much they can do once you are on the turrent.
