...they are the same except '43 is the console version.....

Not true, 1943 is a very light kind-of remake of 1942. 1942 features huge maps, more of everything and is a much better game.

I was playing it today, a lot more complicated than BF3 I have to say . Wouldn't mind having a bit of a GTP meetup considering it's free and anyone's computer would be able to run it.

Are the expansion pack maps as popular as the original maps for online multiplayer?

Thinking about getting them.

I have a a love-hate relationship with B2K. Wake and Oman are great, I hate Sharqi and Karkand.

I feel quite unenthusiastic about AK. I've spend all of 2 hours playing the maps and don't see myself going back any time soon. Seine, Kharg and Caspian Border any of the week 👍

I love oman but hate wake island.
Barely play sharqi and strike anymore, so i dont have much of an opinion on them.

Bandaar desert is a great map as is alborez mountain. Even tho i suck at alborez aside from patroling a and e flags. I tend to do well on the other two AK maps but am indifferent to them.

Oman, caspian, kharg, sienne and bandaar are probably my favorites.
Firestorm and canals would be up there too if the flags were placed differently.

C flag on firestorm should be across the street in the base, or added as a d flag.
Canals A flag should be across the canal from where it is now and i think B flag should be moved into the big building that the snipers like to roost on. This would make use of more of the map.

I think we should be able to choose our flags in our servers (anything up to five on consoles, otherwise it gets way too empty).
For Firestorm:

A better 3-Flag variant would be flags E-B-D or B-D-A. A four flag variant would be E-C-B-D.

I'd choose a 4-Flag Variant with A-B-D-E. Remove the AMTRAC because no one uses it and replace it with a Venom; Keep the scout helos; add one jet for each team.

I'm more of a fan of the revolvers and M1911s. Don't really like the smaller caliber pistols.

So what's console people's opinion on the G17C Supp.?
I think I should have been more clear :nervous:
I know the G17C Supp. is horrible, and every other pistol out-pistols it, so how does one manage with this atrocity until the 500th kill?

Does anyone else find it hard to get a close match of conquest? 9/10 times I play one team absolutely thrashes the other. And it's boring being on either team when it's like that.

Some admins scramble the teams but most don't.

Not all the time. In fact a lot of the recent CQ games that I played in it's entirety went down to around 50 tickets a side. And three went down to 10 tickets aside :scared:
I also posted a thread in the MP1st forum about the 'hostage situation'. It'll be awesome if you guys drop by just to have a read.

Quick question for you good chopper pilots.
Are flares useful against the guided shell in the tank?
Only reason I ask is that I have a very successfull ratio of hitting choppers with the guided shell.
Thing is though I can only use it when I have a trusted gunner that I can also communicate with so he can swap to the third seat.

Cheers Shaun.

Nope. To be able to shoot a chopper with a Guided shell, you need a CITV or SOFLAM. Flares can break the lock of the CITV or SOFLAM temporarily, but once the Javelin or Guided Shell's been shot, I don't think there's a way to counteract it.

Ah ok, thanks Daniel. 👍
Makes sense, it seems like once I get a lock through CITV and fire I'm virtually guaranteed a hit at least, most of the time a vehicle destroy and whatever kills come with it.

Cheers Shaun.

I hate guided shells. Personally i hate them because they require no skill to use them.

This is true, but it requires no skill to mash the trigger on an infinite amount of rocets in their helo's/jets.
Don't understand the thinking of having people run out of bullets, but rockets which can not only take out multiple enemies at once but can take out a tank in a single pass, are infinte.

I think the guided shells/javaalin are a leveller.

They should just make it so that SOFLAM can only maintain a 15 second lock at a time or something. If you've got a SOFLAM up and you're choppering it, you need to be using buildings and terrain for cover to break the lock, but if someone wants to take you down, you'll be doing down.

I mean really tank vs. tank really. I understand helicopters for some people. But tank vs tank is can't stand guided shells. A lot of times I will see someone sitting on the other side of the map and someone with a soflam up. All they have to do it wait 2 seconds then the auto aim does the rest. I like the challenge of shooting down a helicopter with just aiming. I make a lot of people mad on the canals that way. :)

The military has done their best to take the human skill out of the equation.

I understand why I guess in the game I complain once in a while. The other day for instance I was going crazy on operation firestorm i believe it was there. I killed this same guy about 12 times no joke. He wasn't using guided shells. He got me i think once at that time. Then after a few more kills he switched to the guided shells and was all the way across the map. I mean really? That's what I mean buy that.

One thing about the soflam it has really got on my nerves lately. It and the other equipment. I shoot those point blank with a tank shell and it is still there. I just don't get it. I have to shoot the very top of the camera on it for it to blow up. I must say dice needs to nerf that.

I get what you're saying, about the only time I bring them out is when a chopper is owning the map. At times it's your only defence in a tank verus a gun chopper pilot.
For the record I've shot down way way more aircraft with the normal shell, it does bring a certain satisfaction.

Cheers Shaun.

Doesn't ECM break the lock and flares counteract an already fired missile?
I know that's the case with IGLA's and stingers. ECM breaks the lock and flares distract the missile.

Yup, but you also need to change direction once flared. Though I swear on some maps and on some occasions it doesn't matter if you do or not, you're doomed.
