Bought End Game today. Only played on it for a few minutes as I had to leave, but Capture the Flag is so much fun!

In other news, I got my second longest headshot today. It was 955m at Operation Firestorm, using the M98B, 12x and bipod. I use the bipod for long range and straight pull for mixed, but I normally use straight pull.

Anyone in AUS from GTP still playing this game? Looking for a few people to team up with and have some fun, I normally play core CQ or TDM.

Hit me up with an add and just tell me you're from GTP 👍

After using the 1911 and variants for most of my playing time, I made the switch to the MP443 over the weekend and decided to stick with the pistol for more than just a few minutes. While the reduced power is definitely noticeable, the extra magazine capacity, faster rate of fire, and faster reloads are quite nice. Not sure I like the MP443 more than the 1911, but trying something different has been enjoyable.

Once you go Rex, you never go back. .357 mag can clear hallways.

I think you're thinking of the MP412.

The MP443 is the Russian counterpart of the M9. I personally love it along with the M9 because of the abundant ammo per clip. I just suck at aiming. :p

Also, I'd go for the 93R for when I feel a little badass.

The irons are awful on the Rex. If the Rex had a half decent set of iron sights (just a painted front sight would be a huge upgrade), then I might give the weapon more of a go. I may just have to suck it up and learn to live with crappy iron sights.

The MP412 also has the word REX in its name.

One of the reasons I went with the MP-443 over the M9 is the extra two rounds that the MP-443 holds. Throw in the arguably better irons and it was an easy choice.

The 93R has been nerfed so hard. The pistol is a shell of what it once was.

How would you guys compare the .44 Magnum to the MP412 Rex? I would've thought the .44 Magnum would've been the better gun because it's more powerful (or so I thought) but a lot of people seem to like the MP412 better.

It is more powerful, but, the MP412 shoots faster.

Last I checked the .44 does 60% damage up close to the Rex's 50%, so as long as you land both shots in the guy's core they're both two shot kills, but the Rex is much faster and has less recoil. The .44 is a two shot kill anywhere on the body, but if you hit a limb with the Rex it'll be three shots. I think (assume, really) the .44 has more power at range too, but if you're using it at that range you'll have the scoped version so the Rex isn't really a good match for that sort of thing. But I prefer the Rex, for what it's worth. The .44 really requires you to have control over the situation but the Rex is an excellent panic weapon that can make people feel really quite stupid... Nothing quite like turning on a guy going for a knife kill and dropping him in the blink of an eye.

Heh. That's what the crossbow is for. :dopey:

I use the .44 because I like the feel of it. And the Irosights of Rex reminds me of a borderlands pistol. Its terrible. Also I have more control with the .44

Love the REX. Just hit my 900th kill with it last night. I find I am using my pistols when I'm out of ammo and down to a last-ditch effort to save myself and/or kill the enemy. With the .44 if you miss your first shot there's a good chance you're done but with the REX you can send out the second and third shot much more quickly and survive some situations you probably wouldn't with the .44.

I know that. I'm telling you to drop the Grach and use the Rex.

The Rex is the best sidearm on normal, and the 44 is the best on HC. Revolvers have 1.2x center of mass damage multipliers. So the Rex will 2 shot kill at "oh crap out of ammo" range, while the .44 will one shot anyone on Hardcore. Rex gets the nod for me on normal because it's faster to whip out, faster between shots, less recoil, and faster to reload.

I've cleared locker rooms full of dudes on Metro with both.

But you also feel B.A. when using the .44 :sly:

After thinking about it more what about the 93R? It can drop people just as fast, and has faster reload (If you miss all 6 shots from rex and .44 you deserved to get shot) and the recoil is very controllable. So lets throw this into the mix, What do you guys think?

Also why don't we have a GTP BF3 day where we all join and play BF3? Maybe we can get a good date and time and make a thread for it? Would anyone be interested?

The guy inside the tank is going to have 100% health.

His tank didn't catch on fire until someone ran up and repair torched him. I think lag played a huge role. I tried sniping and the bullet would hit the person but they would still have a 100% health.

I prefer 93R over the .44 or the Rex cause I'm more used to handling burst fire weapons rather then shooting single shots with large vertical recoil, besides I don't mind a bit of spraying and praying every now and then

93r doesn't get the revolver damage multiplier.

Symthic
The damage multipliers are following:

Head: 2.0x except:
2.4x for revolvers, sniper rifles and shotguns

Legs: 0.91x

Upper chest: 1.0x except:
1.25x for revolvers, sniper riles and slugs
1.06x for M98B

Also, a revolver isn't going to turn you into Superman Dirty Harry. You can clear a locker room, but you have to flank them or sneak up on them from behind.

You have to be good for that though, I always miss by a hair... The Rex allows me to compensate for my lack of accuracy with my ability to erratically click the mouse in a state of panic.

I actually played for the first time in two months last night, it has to be said, Arma 3 really isn't a good primer for BF3! I ended the game 4 for 11, but unlike the old days where I considered anything less than a 2.0 ratio a waste of time, I actually had... "Fun"! Still, I'm not planning to start playing it again, I really just wanted to experiment with screenshots and such.

Speaking of which, here are the two that turned out somewhat ok, the rest were either boring, accidental or had clipping issues because of the field of view (like the missile tube on my Stinger glitching through the camera, for instance), you can click them for the full size versions. It was quite a quiet server, but anyway, have these:

Anyone else having trouble joining multiplayer servers on BF3? Every time I join one, it stops at the loading screen (before it shows the game info, map, and etc.) and stays there. Just this last time, it froze, and it's pretty annoying.
