I played BF3 on PS3 for the second time ever the other day. Here's how that went: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/4/98452724/174592285/

I'm finishing my college course on Friday so I should have more spare time for a couple of weeks (I'm doing jury service at the start of August and my Dad, who I work for, is going away for a couple of weeks so I'm giving myself a holiday until I can go back to work), if you guys can handle having a PC noob on your side I'd love to get some games in with you at some point.

PC users.
One and only platform to play FPS games on. :p

I tried playing it on the PS3, but gave up after about 4 hours of getting booted by abusive server admins and regular disconnections from EA servers.

Battlefield on PC is just so much more awesome. My opinion of course. :)

You make it sound as if those things don't happen with the PC version!

I don't know, I kind of liked playing it on my PS3 the other night. My brother doesn't have a PC but does play BF3, so hopefully I'll be able to join a few games with him once he's gone back to Uni, that's really my main motivation for playing it on PS3. Well, that and it was "free".

I haven't experienced a single disconnection on PC since like november/december 2011. As far as I can remember.

Only times i've disconnected since then was on my end, not the servers.

"Free" as in PS+ eh? ;)

Well, PS+ is required for next-gen so I won't notice that anyway. :D

I might force myself to download it and try it with you guys, just to give it one last chance.

PC Master Race!

I play both and I'm of two minds about it. PC is awesome when it comes to Conquest. With the large maps and the number of vehicles there are skirmishes going on everywhere and it truly feels epic. On Rush however, there is no end to my sense of frustration on PC. The PS3's lower player count means everyone needs to play a little smarter in order to win. On PC if you're a crappy player it doesn't matter as much because there are 31 other players there making up for your suckiness. On PS3 if you're a crappy player you are a huge defecit to your team. I actually find the quality of play on PC lower than PS3, for Rush anyway. (and there are some absolutely horrible PS3 players out there!)

I'll be getting BF4 on PC and PS4 and with PS4's boosted player count the game should play the same on both platforms. Right? Right?

Oh god, sorry, I really don't want to help turn this into a PC vs. console debate, we get enough of those. Never mind. I'm still waiting to see what the beta is like before deciding whether I get BF4 or not, I might just wait for a price drop (for the PC version, of course, with Premium) next time rather than going fully the other way and preordering and buying Premium on day 1 as I did with BF3.

Yeah true. The savings were great with premium.

I had never intended that either. Didn't even think about it when I wrote what I did.

Oh yes, i'll be getting BF4 for both PC (obviously) and PS4!

Right? Right?
Most likely yes, but also no.

You get more players, bigger maps and such on PS4 vs the PS3, but still gameplay and pace will still be way different compared to PC again.

Ah my bad, I saw 24 v 33 players.

Well then, great game to you! :sly:

Thanks!

Also, I was having fun so I decided not to leave. It was a really close game up until the last 15 minutes. For a while each team was only 3 or 4 tickets off each other.

Plus had another great match, 99-... I think 42? I remember my ratio was 3.60 or so.

Fired Battlefield 3 back up today and had a good round on Grand Bazaar.

My team were really rubbish, but thanks to my incredible spree in the hallway on 2nd MCOM bases, we managed to keep them out and win. Loving the M27 IAR, again. :p

For me M27 IAR, Holographic sight, foregrip and heavy barrel, combined with C4 and nades is one of the best classes on Grand Bazaar. Next to my AK-74M of course.

I started using the M27 IAR again recently and gave the weapon more than a brief run. I have liked the weapon quite a bit. It is a lesser, albeit higher magazine capacity, M416. The accuracy and recoil are a bit worse than the M416, but more prudent bursting and the higher bullet count somewhat makes up for the deficiency. I had been searching for a Support weapon to use, other than PDWs, and the M27 appears to be the choice.

I like a flash suppressor on my M27 IAR. Works pretty well.

I'm also rediscovering the M16A3 after starting from the beginning again. Good gun. (troll)

Can't say that I am a fan of the flash suppressor. Don't think it gives me any advantages over the heavy barrel, but maybe that's just me.

As for the M16A3/A4, great weapons, but a bit unbalanced (read: overpowered), and I find the M416 much better... But when playing assault, AK-74M is my favorite by a long shot.

I love the sound of the AK74M and it does well with foregrip and heavy barrel but the rate of fire just doesn't cut it sometimes. Actually my favourite assualt rifle is the AUG A3 but I don't see many people running that gun.

Yeah but where the AK-74M lacks rate of fire, it has stopping power... And alot of it. :D

So if you put it on full auto for close combat situations, and burst (click your mouse button quickly twice in full auto) it's a beast at medium-long range.

I've actually never really tried the AUG A3 in BF3, might give that a shot later.
But it lacks stopping power.

But it has the power to mow down everything with hipfire and it's actually damn accurate.

In the last couple of days I started to grow fond of the AN - 94, great weapon when you know how to use it and adapt your play style to it. And actually pretty good with hipfire as well.

I've played with the AN-94 quite a bit aswell, and I find it to be good, but not AK-74M good. ;) The 2 bullet burst setting is good though.

Try the AUG if you have the DLC.

I have a love/hate relationship with the AN-94. When my aim feels to be on and I am playing very well, then the AN-94 is awesome. The two round bursts can be fired off incredibly fast and so long as I doing my job aiming, targets tend to fall fast. However, if I am not playing particularly well, then the AN-94 is not a good option for me to use. I miss too many shots, cannot get the bursts to line up well, and just have an overall bad experience.

Try the AUG if you have the DLC.

If you mean use the AUG A3 for the Support class, then that is going to be difficult to do. I am assuming you meant use the weapon with Assault though. I am currently working towards unlocking the Mastery dog tag with the AUG A3; I lack around 50 kills for the Mastery. I like the AUG A3 and believe the AUG to be mostly a good gun. However, in comparison to the M16A3, AEK-971, and M416, the AUG is lacking; though, that statement goes for nearly all guns in the game.

The bullpup design of the AUG A3 is nice. The hipfire benefit can be useful. The problem I have had with the AUG though is that there are many deaths I have experienced that I felt would not have happened had I been using the M16A3, M416, or AEK-971.

All three listed have higher rates of fire. The M16A3 and M416 have faster, both short and long, reload times, which is incredibly handy in all situations. Both AR-15 pattern rifles are pretty good at all ranges. The AEK-971 is a monster in close quarters, especially if the long reload times line up to not be a factor, and is useful enough out to mid range. The problem is the M416, M16A3, and AEK-971 are too well balanced and everything else is not balanced well enough in comparison.
