Ah now that's going to be cool! Good thing I'll be able to get it for free!

Aaahhhh 👍. Very clever! This is probably why I suck at this game :D. I was trying to shoot really close the the aircraft, to hit him before the flares came out. Are the flares auto-activated upon lock?

No, flares are not auto-activated, but there are different tones when being locked onto while flying a plane or jet.

EDIT: Blackbird covered this much better than I did.

I also figured this game is missing one extremely obvious weapon that every fighting force around the work uses.....flashbangs. Would be nice to have a grenade and a flashbag I reckon.

Coming from Call of Duty, I miss having flashbangs, even though I never used them quite as effectively as I should have in Call of Duty. There are many situations in Battlefield 3 that would warrant the use of a flashbang.

Also, I have not yet ever been put in an Operation Metro game yet. Can one be competitive there without an IR sight?

Yes. I just looked through some of my recent Battle Logs and only one of the logs was not using the IRNV sight. I have been leveling Support recently and have every attachment for the M249 unlocked, so I naturally go with the INRV sight. You will quickly learn many of the sight lines on Operation Metro and that is more important than having the INRV sight.

Agreed. A grenade doesn't do what it's supposed to do when it explodes in a compact space (i.e. a room) in BF3. Interestingly, your character throws a flashbang into a room during campaign.

I think sniping was so much better in BAD COMPANY 2. I'm not a fan of it in BF3

I am guessing you mean that BF3 has the whole 'motiving recepticle' effect associated with breathing, which makes a shot harder? It certainly takes some getting used to.

I have a huge fan of sniping in BC2, but they got it wrong in this game in my opinion:

1) BC2 lent it to sniping as it was open warfare - huge open maps, plenty of camoflage and options for on the fly morter attacks.
2) BF3 is urban centric - less open spaces, less camo. As a result the recon class has limited use in my opinion. It's kind of hard to blend into a rock in terms of visibility.
3) Where is the humour! It was classic in BC2 seeing dead Gilli suits tumbling out of trees or sliding down rock faces.

Agreed. I don't think the shots are necessarily harder it just doesn't feel "right." In BC2 it just felt better but I'm not sure how to describe why. I also felt like the bullet drop was a lot more consistent in BC2.

it's not so much the breathing, I love/hate that. Makes it more realistic and takes time to get used to it.

This is what I mean. I have no reference as to where my bullet is going. I was using a sv98 (might have been out of range), but the bullet trail was going right into the enemies chest and I was getting nothing. Also it seems like the scopes are too zoomed in, like tunnel vision.

Yes I think that's one part of it too. It's hard to put a finger on exactly what but I think it's a combination of things. I loved BC2 and never saw quickscoping as a real problem that they needed to change it this much. Some breathing animation added to BC2 would have been great in my opinion.

This is the first game I've have been pissed off about in a long time. The recon aspect sucks the go-nads. I almost lost my controller to this one. Run and gun and anti tank is what I will be doing here on out.

+1 again, Jets too, are inconsistent, I feel like they took the jeep physics added a 3rd dimension and stretched the turning radius. When I go in to corners in the jeep, I end up driftin. And when I yaw in the jet, then stop, I am crabbing like a 737 trying to land in 50mph winds

I hear ya there. Very awkward to say the least.

I too feel that Sniping is different. I didn't really snipe all that much in BC2 though.

I have no real reference for Bullet Drop. Ballistic Scopes don't really help either. It's kinda just something you have to get used to. I can only snipe with a 12x Scope now because I got used to the Bullet Drop in relation to the zoom and target. It's all a lot of stuff you just have to get used to.

Jets are, interesting to say the least. It's another thing you have to get used to. Once you do, you'll be able to do some crazy air stunts. I've been able to dodge missile attacks more frequently using rolls and things rather then the IR Flares.

I actually like the Recon system. I felt like I was constantly getting killed by them in Bad Company 2. Now I get killed by them as equally as other weapons. Feels more balanced to me.

Anybody want to help me do that first Co-Op mission in the choppers?
I can't seem to find anyone that's at the same level as me online. :/

Played this game at my mates, definitely going to buy it myself soon. I had heard that the PS3 version didn't perform very well but it was fine, I never saw any frame rate issues at all when playing online or offline.

He is a hardcore COD fan but admits BF3 is better. It's flippin hard trying to fly the planes and heli's though, I guess it's easier once you adjust to the controls.

Yup.. pretty crazy stuff... BFBC2 they had a couple vids like this too... launching ATVs into the air with mines and stuff..
