CAM, if you need a CoD noob to get use to Battlefield with, send me an FR.
I just picked it up a couple days ago, we'll have to play together a bit should you decide to get it.

Be warned, once you learn this game, you most likely will never be able to do good in CoD again. I learned BF3, now I get MVP more often. Tried MW3, and no matter how long I play, I can only manage mid-pack. Good thing is, I love BF3, so I spend my time there.

That could pose a problem. All my friends play CoD so if I do get this it might need to be a casual play.

My friends always say "oh Battlefield is so gay" when they haven't even played a Battlefield game before!

Yep, but the funny thing is. I had two hardcore CoD friends that I insisted they atleast try it. Needless to say, they now own Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3. And have sold CoD4, WaW, MW2 and Black Ops, and refuse to play another "**** CoD game again..." to use a direct wording from them.

Man it seems like most of my days start out with ****** matches than I come back to BF and win 4 games in a row. I really want to work on the scout helps to unlock the guided air-to-ground missiles. It'll make the little bird and z-11 amazing IMO. They're devastating against infantry, only issue is armor.

They need to hurry up and fix this, sometimes it takes a whole clip to kill someone but I get killed with 3 bullets.

I'm porting my xbox now so that should help with connection

Do the co-op first, it helps with flying though its only a helicopter.

I can echo this. Learning to fly a helicopter helps to improve your jet flying skills, mostly by improving your z-axis awareness. I am by no means a good helicopter or jet pilot, but repeating the second co-op mission many times has made me a passable helicopter and jet pilot. I will say though that a good gunner has made my helicopter skills look better than average at times.

Not really nope. Took me a quite a while to start consistently finishing top of the leaderboard in BC2 after I gave up on Black Ops. I used to finish top of Black Ops and MW2 nearly every other game...

Bullet drop, new controls, vehicles, point system, and tactics are far different in Battlefield and will take getting used to.

It actually feels like there is weight to your character in Battlefield 3. That is probably the first thing I noticed playing a few games of Modern Warfare 3 after playing a bunch of Battlefield 3. I also missed being able to climb over most anything in Battlefield 3.

I have both and enjoy both, but Battlefield is a completely different experience. It has kept me engaged and I have only given Modern Warfare 3 thirty minutes of multiplayer so far. I need to jump on the PS3 more often and see if a few GTPers are on though, as it is blast playing Call of Duty with GTPers.

OK, my uncle offered to get a copy of BF3 for me last night (Walmart's Black Friday deal - $28). Told him I would prefer it for PS3 if possible. Ended up with a 360 copy.

I can probably get it exchanged in a couple days without an issue, but is one version better/less buggy than the other?

Eric.

Not sure but I can tell you that I have had NO issues on the PS3 version.

More GTP'ers on PS3. :D

Just got the game at Best buy for 30$. I would have gotten it at walmart but I rather spend 2$ more than drive, walk in, pick it up, go to cashier and buy it there. I was already buying something at best buy anyways. :)

Finally started having some fun today :) Playing Engi most of the time, switching to Assault when required. Grand Bazaar is awesome now that the maps are more familiar, I finally had a few positive K:D games there.

Is it possible to shoot down jets if they have flares? Or are they like some sort of god machine?

Try and get a teammate. So 1 shoots to activate flares then your friend shoots and takes him down immediately after.

Aaahhhh 👍. Very clever! This is probably why I suck at this game :D. I was trying to shoot really close the the aircraft, to hit him before the flares came out. Are the flares auto-activated upon lock?

I also figured this game is missing one extremely obvious weapon that every fighting force around the work uses.....flashbangs. Would be nice to have a grenade and a flashbag I reckon.

Also, I have not yet ever been put in an Operation Metro game yet. Can one be competitive there without an IR sight?

The way all the aircraft missile lock warning systems work is first you'll get a rapid beeping, means the enemy is locking on. Than you get a solid tone, the enemy's got a lock on you. Thirdly once the enemy fires the missile the system detects this and you get a different sounding rapid beeping. Means a missile is on its way! Even now I wait a second or two than deploy flares. So if a pilot understands this hell most likely deploy after you've fired your missile. On the ground I just hold a lock until they deploy than acquire again and fire. Nit enough time to reload the flares.

Also, I don't like how you have to stand up after being revived to move and change your gun. :grumpy:

I kept on forgetting I was being revived in the Beta, always rejected it when the notice came up

I was using IR on my m4a1 w/ silencer, and it's good for medium range, that's it.

It's slower getting to your face and less manueverable than holo sights, it's preference i suppose

As for flare tricks, what I do is use the soflam and have a buddy use a javelin, and if your javelin buddy isn't ready, there's nothin funnier than watchin heli pilots freak out because you've been locked on for 3 whole mins

Cool thanks for the background - I never fly jets so I dont know this... 👍

Well, I got my first taste of Metro. Was on a good team, so we cleaned up on defence in Rush and then attack we push in and after some huge exchanges, won out. :)

Played for the first time in a few days last night. Tons of jet campers now who also don't realize that you can spawn straight into jets. Almost like launch again from the $28 Black Friday sales.

I don't tolerate spawn camping. I leave. I don't care if it raises my quit percentage. My time is better spent searching for a new game.

Haven't played this game in a while, probably will now! :D Is the Back to Karkand Pack out yet?

And can anyone add me for some GTP party fun? :D
