I don't know about rush, but Op Firestorm, Kharg Island and Caspian Border have them on Conquest Large, so I'm not sure the PS3 version has them on those maps.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the maps with jets/helis don't have any IFVs with AA capability do they?

Their entire purpose is to shoot down aircraft, so why wouldn't they be on maps with aircraft? They are annoyingly rare, though.

With difficulty, but I suggest you try the chopper co-op mission for practice. That's what I did, and when you aren't getting constantly shot down online you can actually get the hang of them relatively quickly. The key is to not confuse the yaw and roll controls, on a console the left stick does the yaw (turning), the right does the tilting (nose up/down and rolling). I found that when I started I couldn't fly low without crashing or high without being shot down, so you just have to practice flying low. Also maybe try being a gunner for a while, unlock the flares, heat seekers and stealth before piloting. Being able to ditch heat seekers is pretty much the most useful ability for a chopper.

Just a quick question for all.

Whats your favorite gadget so far?

Mines? C4? Repairtool bot (don't know the right name now..)? Stinger? Defibs? Claymores? Ammo-Health packs? Mortars? Spawn Beakon? and so on.....


Mine is Claymores right now. Noone really expects them. And there are some choke points where they work all the time! :)

Also, C4 and mines are one of my BF all time favorites! ;)
 
Favorite gadget atm would have to be the m15 at mine. Just drop on the middle of a road and you're set. I find it so satisfying when im just walking around and suddenly the screen comes up with vehicle disabled, enemy killed, etc. Ahhh <3 BF3

I don't quite understand why people are saying why it's like Black Ops? Like you said time_attack, it's mostly like COD4 but still quite different. I like how instead of being all action, there's some down time between things. Plus the story isn't so stupidly unbelievable as Black Ops.

It is like Black Ops because the majority of the story is told in flashbacks while the main character is being interrogated.

Haha very true.

My favorite gadget so far is C4 or the claymore as well. The C4 is awesome for taking out tanks and APCs.

Oh yea, I hadn't thought about that but oh well. I still thinks it's better, maybe I'm just being biased.
 
Got this game yesterday but only had a chance to play the first two missions. I'm on normal and I have to say its pretty hard. Mind you I haven't played a shooter since MW2 so I guess it'll take a bit of getting used to.

Haven't got on multiplayer yet but I got the limited edition. Are the game modes the same as they were in BF BC? Rush and conquest?
 
My very first post in my new residence. Will I be able to play PS3 tonight? I dunno... So much unpacking left to do! I can't wait to jump back online though.

Rush, conquest, team deathmatch, squad deathmatch, and squad rush.

Good purchase in my opinion I'm very much enjoying it so far.


The single player feels like your playing an interactive movie almost. The voice acting is top notch and the animations are second to no other game. There are a lot of cut scenes and scripted scenarios but this time I really don't mind. I won't spoil anything but the plane mission was pretty cool, the visuals in that mission are absolutely fantastic.
 
The plane with the HALO jump? That was pretty cool. The one in Paris was pretty good too. Dima wasn't ****ing around.
 
Finally picked up my copy... had to wait an agonizing week. one problem i dont get back home to my ps3 or xbox for another two days :(
 
^Being patient is key, i know it's hard, but the more you keep yourself sidetracked, the faster those 2 days will be....lol

Played on the flightserver yesterday evening and had alot of fun and got quite some flying done.

To quickly unlock chopper upgrades, capture flags using the chopper.
Best on a fairly quiet server.
 
Hole shizznit, i got it working !! :)

Well obviously not all the way. I get into SP, everything is black but i can now hear the sound and the game running.

I have no menus or anything, just the background of the tank so i press space a couple of times and i think the story starts. Sure enough it does and i´m on a train shooting terrorists but the sens is way to high even when i press it down on the mouse so i hit escape and realise i don´t have any UI there aswell :S

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Will update the post with a video to show you guys,

You do have a monitor that support 120Hz??
What happens if you set it to 60Hz?

Edit: Nope did not work. For some reason the menus just won´t show up in full screen mode :S

Hmm wierd that the game runs but does not show the HUD.:sick:
All I can say is try and mess around with the graphic settings as it only does it when in full screen mode.

You also tried different screen resolutions?

Otherwise, if there is an .ini file, try looking it up if it is enable in it?

LOL yea i have been talking to half of India trying to get to the bottom of this problem :)
I did, first time i just override the old settings but an hour or so ago i did a full clean install of the drivers.

I think i know what might be causing it.

I have done absolutely nothing but re-install BF3 and Origin like 7-8 times now and i have gone from just having the little box stay at "Initializing" to "Loading Map" to now finally being able to enter the game but with no game menus.

It seems that there might be a chance the download of BF3 sometimes misses 1 or 2 files.
Like for the last re-install it could have left a folder that had to do with the menus or something :S

I have no idea really. It´s like the game is playing with me :) Giving me a little piece of the cake as the days pass by :)
