Only way to effectively avoid a guided shell heading for your chopper is to put a building in the way so the projectile hits the building and not you.

Of course, you forget one important thing.

When you're flying the choppers, you can't even hear a guided shell heading your way, let alone take evasive action........

So I'm playing CQDOM on a server ran by a clan.
I'm on the opposite team with randoms and they're basically the entire other team.
Their own rules are "no C4 on Flag"...and their members are spamming C4's.
I get irritated, so I fight fire with fire and starting getting a massive kill-steak with C4's.
They kick me.

Join another CQDOM game, I get into the lead. Killing, killing, killing...kicked.

So much 🤬 that Battlefield 4, no matter how good, just isn't going to be worth getting. Especially since EA have proven to be after that paper rather than customer satisfaction.
Glad I split[/b] the cost of Premium with a buddy so at the very least I don't feel too bad about giving EA more of my money.

What does getting kicked out of some childish clan's server have to do with EA wronging you?

EA forced paid servers. Owners of paid servers can kick anyone for any reason, anytime. The problem isn't the kicking, but all the lost ribbons and end game bonuses (especially since now it's double xp).
If all of those registered, it wouldn't be a big problem.
But after 40 minutes of 750 tickets, to be kicked at the last dozen, it's just...painful.

An EA fanboy might now say "But why don't you just play EA servers?"...because, 1 they're empty and B they're so short that the loading takes longer than a match.

And EA did me wrong by making BF3 ever-changing. If you stopped right now and came back after a month, all your guns will play differently. The bugs that plague this game, the inconsistency, the battlelog, the everything. If you're honestly playing this game and see no problem with it...then...damn...you're one of the few.

Filling in on the overnights all week. Lots of 2 xp fir me this week.

While bf3 has its faults, it is my most played shooter hands down.

Plenty of dice servers are available and populated, maybe adjust what you are searching for. I do agree that 100% tix are way to short. And i also agree it SUCKS losing all your awards etc. Although i think you do infact keep it all if you do not enter a new round or reenter that round.before its over.

I think you are vastly overreacting to gun changes etc. It is rare for a patch to totally change a weapons handling to the point of not being refamiliar with it within a couple of clips.

Cqdom is the furthest thing from a bf experience no matter what platform you are on.except maybe tdm.

As far as forcing paid servers, nope. In fact they have added many more official servers in recent gun breaking patches.

Just searched for a round with 15+ player count
map:kharg and caspian
Ranked.

All but 2 options on first page were official servers.

My advice is to find a server or 2 that you enjoy playing on and favorite them.

Actually all those servers, are the same servers with players rented. The 3 months expired and many didn't want to continue paying for them. Hence the influx of so many 'EA' servers. It was a marketing ploy with which EA tried to seem like the 'good guy', like all their other PR stunts in recent times.

I've long learned my lesson and have been saving every single server where admins seem not be be childish. The problem is when they're empty and you have no where else to go but search for others.

Till Close Quarters, TDM & Conquest were the only real options. Rush was too much of a gamble, or at least every game I tried (either incredibly over powered team or hilariously bad). Conquest for me is a like driving in the endless vastness of the majestic milky way galaxy. I might as well be the only person on the server at how long the running/driving it took to get somewhere.
Vehicles are hit/miss, with most of the times the other team has 1-2 epic jet pilots that demolish everything with their wrath of God flying skills.

But I do agree that no matter how broken BF3 is, it's still the best multilayer FPS to be playing for the time being.

When i get on later i will post the 2 servers i am usually on. Only rules enforced are no spawn camping and no vehicle stealing from deploy. Usually a warning or 2 before kick. Oh and if room is needed for friends list players etc.
I do not have admin rights on either.

How did they "force" rented servers?
Its someones choice if they wish to waste money on one or not. And actually there were plenty of people who welcomed their introduction, Myself included. Why? Because not everyone likes 100 tkt games that take less than 15 minutes. The thing that I and many including you didn't take into account wad not EA or the rented servers themselves but the idiots who more often than not own them. All that being said I never have problems finding EA servers and have plenty of favorited servers to join. You just can't be looking properly or just feel like a moan. And your comment about you being on console and CQ games being the best experience? Well I guess that goes to show how unreasonable you are being.

I do all my FPS gaming on the PC where all anybody ever really plays on is privately paid for servers. I've rarely ever been kicked without reason (not counting auto-kicks that make room for server supporters/donors in some games). If I join a server with silly rules or childish weapon restrictions I just leave and find a better place to play. Doesn't matter if its BF3, TF2, CS, or whatever.

I think that it is silly to need to finish a round for kills to count/medals to be awarded. I assume that it is like that to encourage people to stick around for an entire round instead of bailing as soon as things go south, but it obviously opens the door for admins to grief people right before the round ends.

I would never suggest you play on EA/DICE servers for anything when good privately hosted servers are out there with active admins who can kick morons and actually provide a good environment to play in. Sorry that you haven't found that. Maybe it doesn't exist in the console world... I don't know. Seems like plenty of others on here have a good time though.

At any rate, it's DICE you should direct your anger at. Although I find it weird that you don't like when developers continue to support and improve their games after release. I haven't really run into any bugs on the PC for a while so I don't know whats going on with consoles, but I think the guns are much more balanced than they were at the start. From some of your other posts, if you don't like Conquest or Rush and aren't too big on the vehicles, then I'm not sure why you would play BF3 instead of one of the many other shooters out there.

^ at the risk of upsetting everyone at GT Planet, I kind of see it like this:

Call of Duty 4 made FPS gaming popular on consoles, right? As in, people who'd otherwise not play games bought consoles just for Call of Duty, and we all know how the average Call of Duty player is perceived; essentially a pre-adolescent troll, right? Battlefield 3 shows up, a little CODified to tempt people away from that, then they give console players control over servers, like properly, for the first time ever... It's not surprising a lot of server owners on the consoles go a little mad with power and start kicking people for little reason.

Also, how difficult is it to kick people when you're an admin on console? On the PC version you have to type "/! Kick <player name> <reason>", so to kick someone for, I don't know, camping on the crane on Canals TDM (a popular rule from what I can tell) you have a few seconds to make a note of the name of the guy who killed you from there, wait to respawn, open the chat window (during which you obviously can't do any playing), type all that plus 'camping on the crane' (you have to provide a reason, if you kick without reasons too often you can lose your server's punkbuster protection)... It's just way too much effort so it's often easier to just ignore them. I imagine on the console you just pause, go to a player list and choose someone to kick, is that right? I bet there would be fewer frivolous kickings if you had to type all that stuff and include a legitimate reason for fear of your server becomes open to a load of aimbotting wallhackers.

Its only a pain to type that stuiff on console. On PC it takes seconds with your keyboard you are already using.

On console, if you're kicked you're usually not given a reason because it takes so long to type it and send it to the offender.

I never join servers with bogus rules, so I'm never kicked.

Recently bought bf3 for PC, first time playing online fps on pc as i'm usually on the ps3. Had a few games of conquest in metro, pretty fun to be honest. But that said our team lost the game by a few hundred tickets. I'm still getting used to the the keyboard and mouse, but have been playing borderlands 2 before that so not all too bad.

What kind of keybinding setup do you use for the gadgets? defib, c4, beacon, motion sensor etc. at the moment its set as 12345 and scroll wheel.

Thanks 👍

I use the default setup.

I joined a server last night with no rules and got kicked after killing only 2 people. Sure one of them was in the Viper and I took him out with my tank shell, but c'mon.

Just look at all the kicking that happened on the defending team.
http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/battlereport/show/71886096/4/352878268/

Through great skill and strategy (and a whole lot of kicking of competent defending players) the attacking team won. After that I lost connection to the host on 6 games in a row.

My point was it can be hard to remember a player's name when it's something like 'j86llIpnf1q' of something ludicrous, it's rare but it does happen, and then you have to wait to respawn to be able to type. Well, not quite respawn, but you can't type during the death cam so you have to remember the name between the end of the death cam and being able to type... It's especially tricky if you're partially dyslexic! I was also asking what the kicking procedure is on a console, I imagine you get a list of people and press a button to kick them, is that correct? If it was as easy as that on a PC it might be a bigger problem there, but as it is it's just not worth the hassle unless the offender keeps repeating over and over. Last time I kicked someone from our server it was for repeated chat window spamming about being killed, homophobic and racist comments, disregarding admins' warnings about both of the above, and finally, base raping. The point being it took a lot to motivate me to memorise his name and type the message to kick him, if I could have just clicked on his name in a menu he would have been gone a lot sooner. This is assuming my guess about how it all works on a console is correct.

Actually, thinking about it, maybe the key factor here is my inability to remember usernames for long enough to be able to type '/! kick' followed by that name...

The changes are hard to keep up with if you've been away for a while (like I have), but it's still a fun game. I have it on 360 and it's a great way to kick back and unwind for an hour at the end of the day.

I can't remember specifically cause I havent had my server for a few months but pretty sure it's basically, pause menu, either server settings or player list and then you can kick from there
Pretty quick and easy compared to the keyboard I think haha

I just bought Back to Karkand last night, and I'm trying to unlock the L85A2. Unfortunately, the "win 5 rounds of SQDM" requirement is kicking my butt! I always get stuck wih a garbage team! Does anybody have some advice?

Get a squad of friends. Best bet. Apart from that. I just had to keep quitting until I found myself on a decent team and hung on until they all quit. It took several hours of frustration but I did it in a day. 3 other clanmates and I helped a team mate get his. When we squaded up together it took him literally 5 matches to get the L85 :s

Damn, none of my friends play Battlefield 3. Guess I'll have to tough it out alone then. I heard that there are some servers where you only need like 5 kills to win though.

That is how I ended up getting the five wins.

Just played a few more rounds, and getting a little better now. set the key-bindings to my liking so that's all good too. Trying to squad up with a few friends, playing with these randoms is quite annoying, no voip doesn't help really. That said the last game i was in a decent squad, racking up some kills and holding the bases well.

Would like to squad up with some of you guy's too, i'm usually playing in the evenings. Thanks.
