I love the Carl Gustov. Such a fun weapon to take people out with. I started yesterday and have almost 150 kills with it. Multi kills are also very easy.

Teamwork and good squadmates make the differance in this game :) I can appreciate some of the comments from you guys and it rings very very true. Even with one or two people in the squad you can coordiante and rush Mcomm stations in a heatbeat, sometimes completley undetected while most of the rest of the team are cannon fodder for tanks and mortar rounds.

One thing i learned last night was to fly the choppers properly. I racked up an insane amount of points just by keeping away from trouble and having my secondary gunner rain hell on the enemy.

A decent squad who maintain a good plan of attack are truly a force to be reckoned with!

Hope some people are online tonight... going to head out for a few matches again :) Been busy the last two days so havent had a chance to play... Im itching to play again though! :)

I should be able to get on later on, I'm on PSN now but I can't really play online as of yet. Hereward appears to be online however.

Sorry you had lag in our round yesterday, I eventually Froze along with the wife on the same match and we both had to start over. Rush is awesome with a good squad, it is nearly suicide to attempt by yourself. I have yet to get time in the Heli, but have plenty of experience in the tanks.

I've made a GTP text chat on PSN itself and invite those on my list. Hopefully if everyone invites everyone else then we can just join this chat each day to see if other GTPers are online without having to keep everyone on our friends list at all times. So far of those online I've invited Blitz and Hereward so hopefully it can snowball effect until we have most.

No worries! I reset my dsl and the problem ceased. My ISP's speed can be a bit sporadic at times :)

A clip from the Battlefield Blog:

While the core of the dev team here at DICE as well as all the back-end teams at EA are 110% focused on stabilizing the game experience we do have some other, great news to reveal. Today we’re happy to announce the release date of the second VIP map package for Battlefield: Bad Company 2! It will be made available on the 30th of March on all platforms at no extra cost to all of you who’ve got your VIP codes entered in the game. VIP Map Pack 2 contains the following:

Arica Harbor Conquest mode - US Command launches a break through action directly at the Russian base. Collateral damage is of no consequence. Capture and secure tactical positions in Conquest Mode across the vast Arica Harbor map.

Laguna Presa Rush mode - The valley and surrounding mountains possess a strategic value in the battle for South America, and an infantry assault supported by light armor vehicles is likely by both armies as US forces defend the nearby Dam.

VIP Map Pack 2 will expand the multiplayer experience on Arica Harbor and Laguna Presa.

VIP members will be able to expand on the deep and ever changing sandbox experience, which in itself provides near endless hours of entertainment, by having new content to keep things fresh. It also plays a vital part in making sure you, the players get proper value for the money you’ve invested in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. This is why these map packs are available at no extra cost, contradicting the industry standard and what our direct competitors are doing. Of course, it also helps avoid segmenting the community, making sure everyone can play together having the same maps available. There will be future paid downloadable content as well but these packs will focus on expanding other parts of the game experience rather than the selection of maps available for the basic game modes. We’re dedicated to taking care of this product for a long time – helping you avoid “mapathy” without getting nickel-and-dimed.

Does anyone have an insight as to why this game does not include a compass for the online modes? Spotting is great and all but when it doesn't, or can't work, we could very much use some common reference point for enemy location call outs. Although BC2 is an amazing online game  this one missing feature is very annoying at times :grumpy:.

Edit.....
Sorry kinda forgot about this one:
^^^ thats a lot of numbers... what does it all mean...?

Blitz - it is just a more detailed tool (as compared to the very basic one in the game) to help one decide which weapons they want to use and with what "spec's/perks." For instance by looking at the chart data for shots to kill on the bolt action sniper rifles you'll notice that using Magnum Ammo doesn't provide any real benefit. They are all 1 shot kills at close range and 2 shot kills at long range regardless on the ammo type. So for these rifles one is better choosing any other spec than Magnum Ammo. In addition when looking at the pistols you can see why most of the higher level players use the 1911 as it has a pretty high rate of fire and with Magnum Ammo it kills in 2 shots up to 20m or so. After that it kills in only 3 shots. So assuming you can maintain aim while pulling the trigger rapidly with a 1911 you'll actually take enemies down faster than any of the assault rifles or sub-machine guns . Pretty  I know but that's how the numbers work out.

I don't have any trouble with it, use the old clock method if you need more specifics. There's usually enough refernce though to simply say left of something, right of something or whatever.

True and both valid points. However if there were a compass then a common reference, at least on direction, would always be available.

Edit.....
Just fell across this, how to fly a jetski in BC2 :

is the 360 demo still available?

Nope but I did notice that the BC1 demo is still available FWIW.

does this play just like bf2/2142 on the pc?

Good night on the field again tonight, it didn't always go to plan but generally each GTP squad I was with were taking up alot of slack from poor teams at points. Good to see word got around about the text chat so I've been able to find squads up until about now actually (3:51 AM). Look forward to more tomorrow if people are on, just rejoin the same chat we used tonight and I'll be there if I'm online :).

Im missing out on all the fun! I gotta get me a PS3 within the month! :(

Sorry I ducked out early guys visitors showed up. Quick one on the UAV....sorry if this is teaching people to suck eggs. first up R2 gives you a zoomed view......second and most importantly, yes you can "mark" players so the rest of the team can see them.....bonus is if that marked player is then shot by your team.....20 points to the UAV for kill assist! Camper, Snipers, ambush groups defending positions.......they can all have that handy red triangle ploped on there head LOL I found taking the thing to full altitude at the edge of the map over friendly space, then using the zoom feature was the most productive but you still need to go and follow a squad if theres a big assault going on just to give them extra intel.

I just found out about the spotting thing yesterday. I haven't tried it myself though. You need to aim on somebody for 2 secs or something? And I heard spotting can't be done much to avoid spamming, and that means after a spot the spotting thing has an invisible cool-down?

Are there different UAV's? On Valparaiso I coun't shoot with it anymore, just the rocket.

Using the machine gun on the UAV requires you to equip the Alternate Vehicle Weapons "perk" Then when you press R2 you will be using the machine gun on the UAV... on tanks you get a machine gun extra or if youre in a Bradley you get missiles... :) I use that perk all the time... But then I have a question for Hereward, if youre using that perk then the zoom function doesnt work, so I guess that means you cant spot then if youre using this perk?

You can spot in zoom mode or in ANY other mode depending on what you equip as your perk. so if you stick the "alternate weapon" perk on the UAV you wont have the zoom function (makes spotting enemy harder from distance) but by "looking at an enemy and hitting select it will still "mark" that oponent no mater which perk you have. Remember with the UAV though it has very little armour and opening up with lots of weapons from it will make you a prime target for the enemy to shoot you down. This method of play isn't hugely benerficial to your team. I still use the rockets while spoting but usualy on hard targets such as tanks or if a group of guys are posing an iminent threat to the team....same an assault group aproaching a friedly base or a particularly well entrenched enemy in a good defencive position whos stalling an attack.....and yes those hard to reach snipers all deserve a misile on thee head LOL I'd say though 75% of the time I spot with the UAV and the other 25% is spent blowing stuff up. Zoom function with the misiles tends to mean droping missiles through windows!

Cool man, thanks for the info... I didnt know about the spotting technique... I think I will use the UAV as more of a recon tool now then attack/defense tool which I have been doing... :)

The UAV is certainly extremely useful, I loved having Hereward have the thing right above me so I knew exactly which direction to look when defending and could have enemies ahead of me marked when on the move. It's like free kills.

Also tried Hardcore with Cale last night, I honestly don't care for it as much, it all sounds good in theory but it seems to attract a tonne of Recon players and generally camping. It's by no means bad but I think I prefer normal modes with spotting and such as they seem to allow more teamwork.

When you have marked a soldier how does it show up for you? Is there anything extra to show you where he is or do they just show up on your map?

Sticking the UAV above Dragontastic is allways a good move.......spot enemy, press select.....wait 5 seconds.....another 20 points LOL I think it was at the wood mill buildig (defend C) where the UAV is on the roof, Was spotting advancing troops from merrily for most of that match, in the end they gave up so I strafed the enemy at A while spotting a few snipers at B hiding off to the right in the trees. Tanks didn't get much farther than A on that match LOLOnly lost the UAV once when some sniper from the other side of the map put a wilcard mortar strike on the roof of the mill. Oh yeah and it is possible to run enemy over with the UAV.....very funny to watch LOL

It puts a red marker above their head, for everyone on your team. I believe they show on the map to. Motion sensors however ONLY show enemies on the map not markers on their head.

I've done a little expansion on my KDT forum for a battlefield section if anyone here is interested. There's not alot going on with the forum at the moment but hopefully this will get some activity going. It's not the perfect forum, I'm not uber strict as it's so small now.

Cool, I'll keep adding more stuff as people keep using it :).

This is one funny clip actually... imagine loading the jet ski with C4 as well and doing some kamikaze stuff in a match... That second launch where he crashes into the building would be great for that... Launch a jet ski, the guy sitting on it waits 'til the perfect moment and BOOM!... Driver would get a suicide but if done proper you would take some people out with you as well... or is that frowned upon in general?? :p I remember something similar in the first one with golf karts...

I've killed myself to kill others before, with C4. Totally worth it :D.

He took one for the team again boys......I'm thinking we confiscate his C4....I've seen him running behind tanks before no trying to catch up to stick C4 on it, while I'm stood at the side of the road with the worlds biggest RPG on my shoulder laughing 👍
