does anyone thinks the turbo sound and the Bypass/Blowoff valve sound is lame?.
i liked the sound in GT2 better than GT4 prologue ....

or i the sound going to be better in GT 4 ??

I sounded better in GT2. The sound was too loud in GT3. I don't really much care, to be honest, but I do wish we can get that cool sounding chirp that pro rally cars make when decelerating. 👍

Some claim to hear the turbo sounds in the two new videos from the official website, but I didn't hear it.

I dont know if i am right or wrong, but the sound will change when you upgrade your turbo.
GT4P sound doesn't good because all the 'Turbo' cars are stock. Even you buy a R34 right out from the dealer, the sound is like that.

In GT2 the sounds didn't change they just got louder. But the main difference with GT2 and 3 was you could not hear them from the out side of the car, and thats not realistic at all. My car is all stock with a K'n N filter and the stock BOV can be heard blocks away.

I think it sounds alright, it doesn't really bother me that much at all. Some cars it's pretty loud in, but most of them i don't think it's that annoying.

That little chirp that you like is called " WASTE GATE CHATTER " and its made when the turbo dumps stored air .

If you change your air intake on your (TURBO) car to a race filter , it makes the noise even more proficient .

and your right i love it too - please PD give us some chatter !!!!!!

if theres going to be a drift comp. mode im sure as hell gonna want some cray azz BOV.

Plus it's just badass, and thats every mans true dream, to hold the crown to badassmother****erdom. :trouble:

WIIIISH-KEH-COO-COO-COO...WIISH-KEH!!!

WIIISH=turbo spooling.

it would be cool to have the choice of different blowoff-valves such as Apexi,HKS,GReddy,BLITZ,STILLEN and of course The standard Valve BOSCH it sounds good to..atleast in my SAAB like "*PSSSSssssHHHYYYy*"

and the turbo spooling and bov sound should be more noisy when you upgrade your AIR FILTER even if your Skyline stock or has 700hp+ you could make the choice of bov sound or not by just adding filter or not...... :dunce:

come'on stock means "stock" with no modification at all, not even air filter.
changing after market filter means open up more air, then ofcoz the note will be difference

There are many different types of dump valves, each giving their own sound.

Waste gate and blow off valve are the same thing, so don't be picky. Each to their own.

I'd prefer it if you could have a choice between what dump valve you have, from having a straight dump valve with the nice "wooooommph-tssshhhhh" to chatter "wooommph-tch-tch-tch.

Would be cool.

lol its called a blow off valve ladies and gentlemen. u can call it whatever else you want but thats its real name. and yeah i dont think its loud enough and i think there should be different sounds because not every blow off valve makes the same noise. it does sounds good though with a smaller car. like somethng with 100 hp or so and u put the largest turbo possible on it. then you can actually hear it

Well done Lando - at least someone knows something, unlike the two above you.

Flyingdane, I suggest you do some Googling of your own before you state things so definatively.

Blow off valve on the left, wastegate on the right!

ONTOPIC: I think the BOV sound does get louder as you upgrade turbos. I'm not sure if this is due to a bigger BOV being installed, or just more boost being run, but either way the sounds gets louder and better.

The fully tuned Skylines sound good, and the roar from the waste-gate makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The Option Z Stream is really good at this - just wait 'til that baby comes on boost, then hold on!

I'm quite tired so I try to make it short.

Bypass valve/dump valve/blow-off valve... It's in the high pressure side of the turbo and it vents the excess compressed air back to turbo's inlet side (bypass valve) or dumps it straight to atmosphere (dump valve). It prevents the backpressure which would slow down (and damage over the time) the turbo when letting off the throttle thus also decreasing lag when pushing the gas pedal again (gear change).

Waste gate. In the low pressure side of the turbo. When there's enough/too much boost in the high pressure side, the waste gate opens and lets the exhaust gas to bypass the turbo and exit straight into the exhaust system.

I think that when you tune from one of the tuners, it should sound differ to the next tuners shop, this gives the car a more vary sound. When the turbo spools, its more likely to hear the BOV in stages 1 and 2 turbo, as the turbos are internally gated unlike 3 and 4 which require external wastegate to control boost. Which leads me the next best thing that GT5 should incorperate,Boost Controller, to rise the standard boost a few more PSI to get maxium effective from standard Turbos.

im not sure if its got a turbo but if it does.it has a BOV

Yeah it has a HKS GT3240 turbo.

Also anyone having problems hearing BOV's put headphones on I guarantee you will hear it alot better and some cars where you couldnt hear it at all.

Any kind I would think, I have a Sennheiser PC150 headset, those little ear plue headphones may not have the same effect. I was actually shocked by how much better it was, gave me much more enjoyment in driving GT4 cars. (I have a 5.1 stereo system but I dont even bother with it after using headphones.)
