If I read this correctly, you can purchase new wheels for all cars, but only Premium cars can keep the OEM wheel, and increase the size/width of them...maybe![]()
i hope this means we can buy new wheels for standard cars because i was really looking foward to buying a stock old school skyline r33 or r34 and building it up from scratch to race online.
are you kidding me...
READ THE POST ABOVE YOURS.... !!!
my bad i saw it after i already made the post sorry.
Jeepers, some opinions are seriously blown all out of reason.but this is not an excuse for PD, 5/6 years in development and only 200 cars are really worth buying

Why do all of you overlook the most important word of all in that picture...
OR
It clearly implies there are 2 different actions with regard to wheels!
And it rules out changing current wheels, not buying new ones. So much for the 'oh noes standard sucks' drama.
Well I see your point and yes car physics is important and customization is not a focal point of the game (even if it should be important thinking about the online side of the game) but this doesn't make me change my mind so much about standard cars, I still think that quality is more important than quantity, the fact that most of cars does not have interiors, has less polygons, less way to personalize them and a (hopefully not) less precise and realistic behaviour drives me mad.Jeepers, some opinions are seriously blown all out of reason.
Look, I'm a modding convert, courtesy of Forza. I love to do light changes all the way to full blown race mod. I'm not particularly thrilled that there are already limits rearing ugly heads on what we can and can't do with the Standard cars. I really like being able to dump blah stock wheels for something sporty. Now I can't. Bummer.
But look, this isn't a game like NFS or Forza where the modding takes center stage because the rest of the game is just pretty nifty. The physics of GT5 are evidently so good that some car companies are wanting to see Kaz's motion/mass/energy/inertia modeling for themselves. While I'd much prefer to have every car looking super-hyper-mega real and so moddable I can change the cupholders, the crown of GT5 is the physical feel of all these cars, and it's all these 1000 rides I want to have a chance to experience in this brave new world Kazunori has made for us.
Very few of us will ever own more than one or two cars at a time, or be rich enough to experience some of these ultimate machines, as well as sweet sports cars from every decade. Well, GT5 gives all of us a chance to do just that.
You can grumble that you'll never get anywhere near a Standard because you'll have to see a polygon or some pixels here and there, or they don't have cockpits or you can't change the wheels. Great, you have fun running the same handful of cars around forever.
I want to drive some damn cars, and own them, a lot of them, a thousand of them, and have the drive of my life!
By the way, if you want to gripe at anyone for the 200 some odd Premiums, gripe at SONY for forcing Kaz and the team to drop GT5 and work on GT PSP. If not for that, we might have 300 or more Premiums, and a few more tracks too.

so does that statement mean that we can buy wheels for standard cars but not change them once they are on, in which case you have to buy a new set?
No, PD states in the last paragraph "You cannot change the wheels on a Standard Model car". The first paragraph deals with Premiums.
Well if you re-read that statement, it says that you can purchase a new set or 'change' the existing set meaning change the specs of the wheel. It would be redundant if it refers to you buying a new set of wheels for you car. I believe when it says 'change', it means changing something on the existing set of wheels on your car currently. Doesn't mean you can't purchase new ones. I think you're right CoolcolJ. People might think we're grasping for straws but I think it's just bad english on PD's part.
Could simply be due to translation.. I know they have a domestic team but still. Why are they so confusing with everything. they've had plenty of time to write small paragraphs in GTAuto explaining the options....what the hell.![]()
You'll have to grouch at SONY Japan for this. They were the folk who had Kaz drop work on GT5 to produce GT PSP. Prologue was probably just a road bump of a few short months work in comparison, and work that actually benefited GT5. What GT PSP gave us was 800 some odd Standard cars and a delay.I don't understand why not focusing on an reasonable amount of cars (400 for example) and work extensively on them
it was the same way in GT2. not all cars get race mod. just have to find the ones that get it.
well, it doesn't say you can't purchase new wheels, it says you can't change wheels. Why are they so confusing with everything? they've had plenty of time to write small paragraphs in GTAuto explaining the options....what the hell.I think it means that if you have a standard car, if you go to GTAuto, you cannot change (size or something) your existing set, but you should be able to buy new wheels (Rays, Speedline, Yokohama etc). I guess we'll have to wait and see
The paragraph that PD is providing is very blunt, "You cannot change the wheels on a Standard Model car". It's pretty straight forward. Since you cannot change the wheels, where are you going to put the ones you purchased.
A lot of us hoped for this option to be carried over from GT4, but PD decided otherwise.
It does appear that some standard cars might be able to be painted, since they made no effort to comment on standards, unlike the wheels.
