You can see old muscle cars with bodykits or racemods in this video :

Jump to 4:55 and you can see a chrome bumper corvette (`69 vert?) and a car behind it (`70 challenger?) with some kind of modifications.

I`m sure that is a chrome bumper corvette.

EDIT: Maybe that`s the front downforce upgrade? In GT4 you couldn`t install front wings (correct name: splitter?) but you could adjust the downforce on the front end with only a normal wing. The Challenger looks like it has the same wing, Could it be that they are the same for all cars?

That new Camaro and the Corvette in the intro at 4:53 might have race modifications.

That's what it looks like to me. Those muscle cars obviously have some type of external modifications done to them.

Whatever the case may be, I am sure excited over it!!:)

Whelp, looks like Rybakdany uploaded a short clip on some of the options.

Looks interesting. But, if you keep the screens from the GT Auto section in mind, it appears that we'll only be able to add internal modifications in the tuning shop (except for the carbon bonnet, though).

All the body modding (including the race conversion) will probably be done there.

He meant that, on the day of GT5's release, at 5pm, he'll put a list of all the possible modifications up.

If I understood him right, that is.

Is there some issue I missed? Thats Kinda silly if you ask me. I mean were all here becasue we want to see whats coming. If you dont want spoilers dont look in the threads.

By the short video clips that rybak has been uploading of tuning and gt auto, i must say that it seems very very basic. Just like the old GT games. I would have hoped for more advanced options.

Edit: And what´s up with the "You cannot change the wheels on a standard model car" ? thats alot of cars (80%) ??

Well, personally, I don't really believe what he said, he's being way to cryptic about everything. Anyways, we'll probably find out in the next two or three days.

So basically, no Rims for 80% of cars...this is kind of going backwards, I'm a day1 GT lover, but this i dont understand, every since GT2 we've had free reign to "customize" all the cars save for special cars and race cars.

SPECULATION:
Bottom dollar says NO R-Mods for standards either... :scared:

PRobably no body kits no paintjobs either...

This is not so appetizing.

Im getting a little bit worried.. Are the standard cars that limited it´s really going backwards.

Standard is a bit of a misconception.
These days cockpit view is standard in many games.
Hence premium=standard. Standard=substandard.

I think this is very bad, no wheels for 800 cars? In all gt series u could at least change wheels. This is a big dissapointment for all the real auto enthusiasts that like to make the cars unique and then have fun with friends in online racing, showing off cars, paintjobs etc etc. I Dont think PD will take market shares from turn 10, turn 10 will probably take market shares from PD when forza 4 comes out.

Why bother to have 800 cars then? The point to have standard usual cars is to mod them in such extent that they could be competitable with the faster cars, both visual and racing wize. It is hard to tell wich audiance gt5 is for, if it was for the real racing ppl that dont care about modding, why have 800 unmodable cars and light modding in the first place? It it was for the ppl that like moding, why have so limited customization?

Gt5 is stuck in the middle.

I'm honestly startin' to float towards the "standard cars shouldn't even be in the game" spectrum... epsecially since you can't even put aftermarket wheels on 'em. Hopefully they release a patch 'cuz that's kinda y'know... unacceptable.

is it me .. or are we misenterprating the no wheels on standard cars..

does this actually mean...

all 800 ( or so ) of the standard cars wheels cannot be changed ..

or does it mean..

if the car is in standard form they cannot be replaced, but if there are modifications done to the car, then it is possible ???

if your unable to change the wheels on standard cars.. for me this a MASSIVE step backwards for GT.

that to me is part of the personaliation of your ride that GT has pretty much always offerd.

I sincerely hope its not 800 cars must run on standard rims.. even when they have body kits on them... that will just plain SUCK.

We'll see for ourselves when the game comes out. That would be pretty disappointing though considering that how many gear heads including myself play. I wanna throw on some TE37s on my 350z and just drive around for fun.

The two things that always bugged me about PD.. They continue to overlook the ALMS and they don't want to understand modding :yuck:.

Another great opportunity missed.. Way to go PD, the little modding we could do, and now it's gone.

if this is the case... that 800 cars are pretty much unmodable..

i will not buy the signature edition and just stick with the bog standard.

thats over £100 GBP sony have lost out on... just from me alone..

there is ABSOLUTELY no need to not have this.

even if the GT4 cars bodys are singlepeice 3d ( which i find very hard to believe anyways )

the wheels would still be a seperate entity to the body, to have them rotate they 100% must be seperate from the carbody. Hence the ability to not change them is not down to the SINGLE 3D OBJECT theory.

its just plain lazyness from PD...

unfortunately ( for me )

GT5 is turning out to be somewhat of a let down... so many promises.. and now we start to find out.. actually its quite limited.

DYNAMIC WEATHER - not on all tracks

RIM SELECTION - only on a select few cars

very few NEW circuits

apart from some new manufacturer licences, updated graphics... its not so much of a HUGE leap from GT4...

i for one am a bit gutted... ( 5 years is a long long time , some games are written from scratch in half that time )

Which kind of upgrade would be even remotely reasonable as a prerequisite for aftermarket rims? A race suspension?
That wouldn't be just stupid, but completely unrealistic either.

im not arguing..

i just find it hard to believe.. they have locked over 80% of the cars to standard wheels... WTF..

i was kind of clutching at straws , in hope i misunderstood.

seems i didnt...

Actually, 1000 cars is to much. Gt5 as i said before is stuck in the middle. Thay have followed the forza concept, and that is cars for "everyone", streetcars, regular cars, supercars, racingcars etc. But still they failing on a very important feature, and that is lack of customization and cockpit view etc. It would be better if they would have less cars, but all would be equal.

There are many epic streetcars that i think would suit as premiums, for example the toyota supra 98, camaros, mustangs, vipers etc, etc, that kind of cars that are really popular for ppl in the tuning scene.

Its a shame that the japanese ones with all their resources in the tuning scene fail to bring many epic japanese streetcars as premium ones.

What is gt5 racing actually? Professional racing with tuned cars from factory, or amateur racing where ordinary ppl bring their tuned street cars and race for fun?

Is this what you're referring to?

As you can see, it's reffering to painting the wheels, hence, no, that's not what I'm reffering to. Just watch the video and pause it when the guy's highlighting the 'change wheels' button.

but equally unrealistic that your unable to change rims... maybe ???

what about if its a standard car model... that has been race spec'd , then your allowed to change wheels ???

doesnt make sense i know...but possible ???
