Body modding, custom tuning and GT5...

As long as it's bodykits that serve are adjustable, and create downforce, along with the Spoiler, to make the old, Racing Mod, But preferably not costing 85Grand... I'm all for it, some with more downforce, and a higher minimal amount of DF, and others the opposite, and maybe even some mediums, would be great too.

If is not understood, ask and I will clarify, I'm simply to tired right now.

I get you, and I agree, body kits that provide functionality should be used in the game, I want to design my own race car, I'm not talking NFS:U, I'm talking proper body kits that provide areodynamic benefits to suit whatever type of motosport your palnning on using your car for.

I would like to see some functional tuning available as has been said, with Nismo, Mugan etc aerokits that actually look good, while being adjustable for downforce. The Racing Modification in GT2 was great!
I might get flamed for this but decal and paint options would also be nice, just wait hear me out.

Many members here are fond of taking a car and drifting it. The decals and paint options would be nice to take your car, be it a NSX to a Silvia, and make it look like a true life drift machine (see image of the HKS Silvia. Aerokit, functional spoiler, sponsorship and vibrant paint job):

I wouldn't want over the top kits and stuff like that in a Gran Turismo game, so neons and spinners are out of the question.

OK, but only those options should be available for cars that are converted into drift. Like the Silvia, 350Z, S2000, Skyline etc. but maybe not the GTO, Mustang GT and Viper. I dont follow drift (not a fan at all, just seen some pics of these cars) but the GTO, Stang GT and Viper are more muscle and supercars than drift cars. Im amazed GM, Ford a DaimlerChrysler are even doing drift.

I think racing body kits would improve the game, adding sponsors would improve the game but I'm thinking along the lines of you do well in a car and after a while a company offers to sponsor that car then a second ect until you have a car sponsored like a proper GT or touring racer ect. I don't really think doing it like Forza where you can stick anything on anywhere at any point in time would be the best bet. But then the paint shop ini Forza is a very neat addition to the game.

That would mean a career mode of some form, wich I firmly believe should be kept out of the GT series. Racemods would be fine though, and a paintshop is fine, but if sponsors is to be implemented, they should be free for all from the start.

I don't see it like that, you just get an offer for a sponsor every now and then as your cars race wins rack up, the sponsor only affects that one car, and you'd have the option of accepting or refusing, you wouldn't have to have a McDonalds logo on your bonnet if you didn't want. Sponsorship features heavilly in real racing, if you start out you don't have a million and one companies offering sponsorship to you, you have to earn it.

Allright, I´ll buy that. But should you make more money if you have sponsors? If you do, (almost) noone will refuse a sponsorship, and thus the whole thing has taken a bad turn. In this case, sponsors should be very hard to come by, and not be very beneficial. Especially since money is never an issue in the GT series.

With regards to the money issue theres three ways of looking at it, well actually four, you could have it offer money for each race depending on the result, but as you said o-one would refuse a sponsor, so to do it this way you'd need multiple offers each tie so you'd win so many races and get offers by say five companies, you get to choose one. This means that you at least get a choice f a sponsor you prefer rather than choosing one you don't just for an extra buck. The other way is to have a large benefit, a larger pot of money for each race but make it very, very hard to get sponsored. The third way is to get only a very small ammount of money each race so it then become a personal choice of I don't like that sponsor and the benefit isn't all that great so I'll leave it or yeah I like it, and have it but it makes a small difference to your credits. The fourth way is just to haev the sponsors and not to recieve anything but that takes away the idea of keeping it realistic,

For optical, maybe some not-licensed body parts(except the rims), but you can still make a very cool, custom car... [The worst, that these are a lot of work for this amount of cars, and I dont think, that the creators will implement these ideas]

Exterior:

Front Bumper
Side Skirts
Rear Bumper
Hoods
Vents
Rims
Spinners
Custom paint, with spray can
Window tints
Muffler tips

Interior:
Seats
Steering wheels
Overall interior color

If any, I think I´d prefer the third way for Gran Turismo.
But, and there is always a but, I tend to use as many cars as possible when going through a GT game, just for the variation. I´m pretty sure there are many gamers like me out there. So if sponsorship would be hard to come by, and only available after a certain number of wins in the same car, many people would never ever see a sponsor. And besides, encouraging the use of lesser cars would kinda ruin the whole idea for the game, no?

So I can only see two ways here: either free for all from the start as an aestethic choice, or no sponsors at all.

I think that Auto Modelista's functional styling is the way to go. It would be awsome of you'd gain a couple of kph's in your top speed, because of your new bodykit. Or something. NO "mufflertips" or "spinners". DUDE! WTF?

Here's a picture of what I'm thinking of.

Here is what they need to do, if you want to tune up your bodies on the cars then what would be best is just adding a few wide body kits to make the cars at least have a wider stance on the ground and NO coffee can exhaust tips or neon or fancy shmancy sound systems or stickers, other than that keep it the way it is.

I think the only body modification in the Gran Turismo series should be Racing Modification. Leave the normal modifications to the Need For Speed series and such. These tuning cars don't look very good and aren't that good overall. Bring back Racing Modification because that was great

Agreed 👍.

What about the old Gran turismo, the first one, doesn't anyone miss the tuning like that? Where you could tune the TVR Cebera speed six into the LM form and change almost all of the cars into racing like the camaro, corvette, those kind of tunings. Make the stock cars wider with racing bodies. They would truly be beautiful cars.

If anyone looks at NFS (I know not many people like it) but look at that, I would like Gran Turismo to incorporate wide body kits, just to make them have a wider stance which really does give them more grip, it would look nice as well but I hate spinners and I hate coffe tips. The cars would also gain air flow over the tires from the air ducts in front and in back of the wheels I mean at least then they would look a little nicer to race with and I think it would be nice if they let you turn every car into their racing form (if they have any) like I posted in my previous comment, like in GT1. Ex: Saleen S7, Viper GTS-R, Callaway C12, Zonda C12 (the actual race car, not a fantasy race car) I mean that would be nice in my opinion.

I know someone said this earlier, but I really liked the idea of functional bodykits in three stages, possibly incorporated into the weightreductions.

I agree, that the Spinner idea was not too good...

But I dont understand, that the mufflers are not a good idea...
In the real life, a muffler tip can add some HPs to the car.
:P
Anyway, now, I agree with your opinion about the NFS's and the GT's connection.

No a muffler tip down't affect the power, not in a good way anyway. People put large exhausts on small cars because they sound nice, what they're really doing is reducing the cars power in the process, the larger exhaust is giving the exhaust gasses more room to expand and slowing them down in the process. Rac cars use as small an exhaust as they can get away with, if it's too small then the gasses don't leave the engine properly, which is bad, but if they're too large, the gasses don't move as fast which reduces power. An exhaust tip however, is after the muffler, the muffler is there to let the gasses expand and slow them down right before they leave the car to cut down noise, the tip does not add power.

The big reason for me that GT2 is better and more fun than GT4 is the

"Race Modifikation" in GT2!

Please put the "Race Modifikation" in GT5 and its "KING OF RACING GAMES"

Functional bodykits also adds better gameplay, IMO, because then you won't have to stare at your car and say to yourself, "It has 500hp, It has 500hp... It just looks stock, that's all..."

I keep on hearing about “Racing medications”, well, forgive me if I get this wrong (I haven’t played GT2 since I was like 10), there was outlandishly expensive (75,000cr, or something similar), there was only one choice, and the mod only worked if there was a racing variant of the car, meaning the choice was extremely limited. The racing mod was simply not enough.

Forza had the body modding almost spot on. I played it only for a few hours, but I remember saying “I wish GT4 was like this”, not because of the car line up or the driving (which quite frankly such compared to GT4), it was because of the things you can do with your cars looks. You can add different bumpers, exhaust tips, paint, etc. Even with a lot of these mods added, the car doesn’t look like someone tipped a parts bin over it, the car ends up looking like a Race car, that is what we do in GT, create race cars.

What would you rather have? A button that does all the work for you and leaves you with a generic looking racing car that thousands of people have, or a section of parts that allows you to create a unique race car?

To sum up that post - Racing mods are boring.

Engine transplants !!! Sorry but an old Lada with chevy engine would be hours of fun ! How cool would this be! a scrap yard with parts of cars, interchangeable with each other. Start off and buy your cheep nasty car to begin with and find an accident damaged vette in the yard, salvage what you can and fit what you can to your car. Also the scrap yard could contain hiden treasures! an old rusty banged up 1930's bently, spend ure cash and restore it to its original glory and u have ureself a classic racecar! maybe im just goin crazy but i think this would b great ! lol. Obviously this yard would b limited in its parts and would only really be usefull for the beginer with litte cash and the rich bloke looking to restore some classic but i think it would add an interesting and pretty kl eliment to the game. Dont shun this idea as not in the idea of racing because it is what the 'hardcore racing on a budget guys' do ! as my dad is one of them ! (not the restoring part but the scrounging for anything thats uresfull!. Thanks

ohhh, the big engine will scrap the chassis, i think...
maybe there should be some system for engine classing, so you wont bale, to put a V12 engine to a Trabant, Lada, Polski, Matiz, Peugeot 106, etc...
dont kill me, if i said stupidity
