Body modding, custom tuning and GT5...

Anyone ever played Tokyo Extreme Racer?
That is what the body styling system should be like, it has wide body, front rear kits side skirts....everything, and its not "ricey" as some put it.
Also, the lower end bodykits (smaller cheaper ones) add weight, then when the bigger bodykits get unlocked they reduce the weight of the car (carbon fibre/FRP), its a great system.

Edit: Actually i thought what i wrote, and....it's kinda on track, but i have a better idea.
The only bodykits/mods etc should be already available kits from REAL bodykit manufacturers. This would stop the insanely crap kits out there, and also, it should be possible to buy either side skirts only, or rear bar or front bar, so this way i can make my ultimate S14 with standard front bar, and vertex sides and rear, lol ultimate drifter!

I totally agree, that is more GT style if you want to make rice cars go play NFS U of MW. Because rice cars are more for show then racing.
GT is about racing not about styling allthough i think some styling would be ok but the right part could give you the edge.
Body modding like nfs in GT = less cars and tracks
Keep it simple it's a race car not one you wish to win shows with.
Spinner are fun when you stand still, how often do you stand still during racing, yeah at the start, but then they are not spinneng because they don't have any momentum. Conclusion it only adds weight to the car.

I really hate those ''insanely crap kits''
You can go on for hours about this topic.

Very Simple: NO NO NO NO NO NO NO AND NO.

You want street cars? Get back to your stupid NFS Game.
Bye!

Well, maybe not all of us want to do stuff like you do in NFS. Maybe I and maybe other people would want to make our own LM cars to race, or make show cars. You know on GT4 you can get a Model T, but can you race it? If you could make show cars you can still have fun driving it around the track.

Also they should have foose or classic muscle car rims for show cars as another option, besides just racing rims.

Has any one on here tried to design their own race car using a factory car. Once you get it just right you dread that you can't paint it.

Aero pakages FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well actually I have some road cars out performing race cars, yeah it would be nice to paint it like a race car and some aerodynamic improving body kits, I'm down for that.

And muscle cars must have muscle car rims and such.

And last I'm not saying you shouldn't be able to make show cars, just not like in NFS it's a racing game or you should put a feature in were you can compete in those things. That would be nice, make a show car, win shows, earn money, upgrade the engine and go race

i agree, you should be able to make some show cars in gt5. you could bring them to a show, get some extra cash, and maybe win some trophies. you could even have the ability to take pictures of the other cars. hell, this would be an awesome idea for gt5 on the internet. people from all over could come together and show off their rides in a car show-type environment. plus, there could be different categories of vehicles (muscle cars, tuners, jgtc, supercars, etc.)

... don't get it.

what dont you get? you have the ability to show off your car in an in game car show. if gt5 is also internet capable (like gt4 should have been), then you could compete against other people in online car shows.

I actually tried doing that lately. I saw a sweet GTO-R in the Rolex Sports car series. It's blue, and look really sweet. So I bought a blue GTO in the game, and customized it to be about as fast as a Camaro Race Car...so i did good in that department...the problem is 1. I can't get the right rims, or color (they were blue). 2. No graphics or sponsors to make it look like a race car.

So yeah it would be really sweet to be able to customize cars with kit and such for racing.....i'll admit, i play NFS series....and i'm an avid GT fan as well....but i also understand where the die hard gt fans are coming from. So add customization, but don't over do it i guess is the easiest way to put it.

I dont like your idea (2 posts above haha) ^^^ sorry :(, it sounds like you're trying to veer from the actual game of GT.

The slogan for this game is "GT the real driving simulator", well something like that haha.

Adding your car into a bodykit/styling competition has as much to do with a driving simulator as George Bush and the government.

And photomode is? Gran Turismo is more abut auto appreciation than anything imo. It'd be nice for them to make the races better though.

I thing the races are very good, And I still think it should be a racing game but it would be a great idea for a add-on. Doing shows and stuff, so if you want to do that buy the add-on, and everybody is happy.
I like that idea 1 disc for racing and 1 disc for shows and more visual tuning.

With all of the new PS3 hardware, they should be able to hold everthing on one disc....but if PD decides to flood us all with every car aspect in life that we can think of with this "revolution", well.....2 discs will be fine. I can't wait to see what's in store for the series on the ps3.

I'm fine with the GT series as it is, BUT I wouldnt mind being able to get carbon fiber hoods and trunks. I also would like decals for your car.

all i want in the game is body kits from simple ''lips'' to jgtc wide bodys maybe for the new cars and not as wild for used/old cars and wings from factory option ones to pro stock type wings and the wing on the pikes peak suzuki in gt4. again custom paint. custom decals buy not like in nfs mw like in forza motorsport you can put decals anywear. i want to have custom interiors and make cars ''tubeframed'' sorry if i put stuff that was in the thread already but thats the stuff i want in gt5

The purpose built GT500 car's don't have bodykits, you don't turn a stock Supra into a JGTC one like the ones in GT games, they're silhouette cars built from the ground up for that one purpose, to race in the JGTC. However other cars that enter the JGTC (you see the rules do allow for GTS, GT1, GT2, GT3 and other types race cars to enter as well though often with one or two modifications to keep them within GT300 or GT500 regulations) are sometimes based on the road versions.

I would just like to see online play become an integral part of GT5. So much so, that most of the racing should be done against human openest. That would capture the true spirit of racing, and bring an element that GT has always been missing. I hate doing 120 laps around Suzuka against the AI, but against other people, that wouldn't be bad at all. They just gotta make sure they eliminate all the stuff cheesers could use to crash their way to victory, and make sure they set up a system to rate a cars performance. So ultra realistic crashes are a must (In other words, you hit a wall and it's bye-bye for you.) as are equally match cars.

That's what Poly needs to be spending their time on. Not stupid and useless ricer crap. BTW in case you didn't know "spinners" and big "rims" make your car slower. :yuck: So there you stupid ricer POS.

I think what most of us want is not "ricer"...but more like racing aero kits, functional spoilers (more variety than in GT4), and ways to customize the look of your car (sponsor decals, paint, etc.).

I don't know how far PD is going to go with the online aspect of GT, but that is a pretty sweet idea. It would definitely up the intensity level of racing. But any type of online racing in GT would up the intensity level. They better have GT5 online for the PS3...GT is one of the potential games i'd actually be good at online...most other games...eh, i'm not so good :indiff: ....or everyone cheats.

of course, if there is ricer crap, then you can laugh at the people who use them because they'll be slower and you can easily beat them.

I agree and instead they should focus on bodykits and more modifications for your cars.

the only type of modification like that should be racing modification. they should definitely bring that back though theyd still only have it for mostly every Japanese car like gt2. frikin carist polyphony digital people. lol.

Just to add one more thing onto this tired topic, is that ever since gt1, its never been street racing, its been closed course, enduro crazy, F1 crazy and PURE driving techniques.

NFS is just like wannabe of the racing world.
kthx.

well no not really, NFS is just a completely different type of racing and it's a different approach to the way they convey racing, ie it's not a sim. It has no bearing on weather or not bodykits, paint shops or other ways to modify your car have a place in Gran Turismo.

i dont really find a problem with the non-performance oriented parts, like ive hinted before. many people here think that since they dont like something, everyone else shouldnt have it. there prob are people who dont care whether the parts help with performance or not, but rather if they look good or not. whos to say that they cant have those parts in a simulator environment (besides PD of course)?

I would want like body kit and whatnot and maybe some carbon fibre for the hood. But i would just want to make a car that not everyone else has. Like for drifting, i can guarentee every drifter tried to drift the HKS silvia and/or Blitz Skyline. Kinda like i heard in the new Tokyo Extreme Racer, you wont find any 2 cars the same online. Not that im saying GT5 needs all the rims and spinners and neon etc.

I'm telling you guys who want that kind of thing... Carbon, dudes, NFS:Carbon is your thingie. It's calling you, waving and shooting bottle rockets.
