Body modding, custom tuning and GT5...

Yep. That would be good for photomode, and it would be interesting to see how they affect the handling.

the reason i asked is if anyone says no to this question, then i can shoot back that the Dodge Ram Srt-10 has 22" rims

You can put that in GT5, that thing goes.

You'll probely know that dodge is lazy and have put the Viper srt-10 engine/motor in there = 500 BHP in a pick-up:eek:

That would be sweet to be able to make your own "tuner car" company like a saleen or roush (based on the pics above).....create a logo, trademark, or sticker that would represent your company (nothing drastic, just maybe a customizable sticker you can put on a windshield or something). But i doubt PD would do something like that......i guess in a way you could do that with some cars already in GT4.....using all HKS parts or something, so you can call it the HKS "insert car here", but no one would know except yourself.

of course, if there is ricer crap, then you can laugh at the people who use them because they'll be slower and you can easily beat them.

Yeah, it would be neat to see GT5 take on something of a 'two-edged sword' slant. There could be some things you can do, but they may not be the best things, just like in the real world.

If you don't know what you're doing and just slap parts on, you can mess up your car and have to pay the consequences. If you do your homework and carefully choose parts, you'll end up with a great car.

How about instead of turning GT into NFS (GTNFS), you can add stuff that real race drivers add to their cars? Underbody diffusers, front and rear SPOILERS (NOT WINGS), and other things like fully functional scoops (can you say, ram air?) Blowers sticking out of hoods, simple decals like stripes and flames? Custom paint jobs? Change paint color after car is bought? A GT Chop shop (remove unwanted bumpers), fender flares? Purchase tuning parts individually (buy new camshaft seperate, new carb, spark plugs or fuel injectors etc...) Running open headers?

I'm not sure if someone has already mentioned this so sorry if i rip you off

Also, how about manufacturer specific tires? Being able to make the writing on the sidewalls visible? Buying wider tires, getting bigger wheel tubs to fit EVEN WIDER tires, y'know, little things

Not a big a fan of the whole show car thing, that's the type of atmosphere which you would go to a real car show for. You know, you see a rare car in a videogame and its like, oh i already bought 50 of those because i had enough money to. Whereas, when people in real life see a Chevelle SS 454, they go CRAZY!!!! I do see where you're coming from, but I just don't see it happening. A rare car in a videogame just doesn't have the same effect.

whoa 20 pages of stuff but yeah I like this Idea but what they should do is take a page from forza's book and add engine swapping... this would play a huge role in car customizability...

and maybe even a body kit You could create -make it more aerodynamic or something who knows?-

rims i dont care wings i dont care

but i think you should be able to get your car painted. i mean in real life you can so why cant you in gt?

And it's not like race cars don't use them or anything is it .

race cars do use them, but that's because they are race cars, simple

the road cars should stay stock and GT shouldn't pander to the F 'n' F fans

Why not? Besides that none of what I had in mind was pandering to F&F fans anyway.

Secondly the whole point of Gran Turismo since GT1 has been to turn your road car into a race car, I'm sorry but a stock bodied Civic touring car just doesn't cut it for me. Or do you forget the race mods in GT1 and GT2. There isn't a single reason body mods should not be allowed in Gran Turismo 5, it wouldn't be like it's the first time they've been in a GT game. Gran Tursmo is all about buying a car, any car and tuning up turning it inot a race car. Once again, why shouldn't they be in Gran Turismo?

I do remember racing mods in GT1/2 and I want them back, but I don't spoilers, front and back bumpers, side skirts and crap like that because they look crap and they do pander to the F&F fans/ricers/chavs/whatever. They should leave it like GT1/2 with the ability to put RM on if you want. I don't usually modify cars anyway cause I prefer to keep them stock

The race mod included "spoilers, front and back bumpers, side skirts and crap like that". What's wrong with the idea of choosing from a selection of splitters and bumpers and side skirts ect. I find it incredibly odd that it's the people that prefer to keep their cars stock that are most against increased customisation, well why should the increased customisation bother you if your going to keep your car stock anyway.

since when does spoilers, side skirts, and new bumpers hint towards the f&f crowd? what about all those stock Imprezas and Evo's and such that have spoilers, side skirts, and bumpers different than the base versions of the car? or are you not into those because they have body kits? if you're saying you hate the overly large versions, then i can see what you're getting at. but im sure some people would like to put some modest bodykits on their stock vehicles. why should everyone else not get the option just because you don't like it?

Modest or not, I'd like to be able to make my road car look like a race car, BTCC cars don't have modest bodykits. And I'd like the option to do that to be less restrictive than the race mods from GT1 and 2. If I tune a Skyline I want the option to make it look like a rally car, GT racer or touring car ect, I want to be able to choose each part individually.

I can see why people don't want GT to go down the F&F/Need For Speed route. But i think as long as the body mods are functional, everyone will be happy. Huge exhausts, neons, 3rd party lights, ugly body kits and over sized wheels should hopefully not be included as options. Any kind of modding in a game will always lead to a certain amount of poor taste/judgement, but i guess that's life.

the body kits should be performance based not too rice and je must be able to select them indvidually, then i think most people are happy and GT in no NFS so please keep it that way

ps NFS most wanted was way to easy

what they need is some of the American tuning companies, like Chip Foose, Boyd Coddington, Roush, Shelby, etc. they could offer parts, wheels, body kits, right up to full models, just like tuner village in GT4.

Exactly. And to reiterate, if you want the return of racing modification, which almost everyone does except for a few oddballs, then you want those bodykit parts. And if you want bodykits, then why not give us a range of kits to allow us to create a hobbyist level race car?

I used to feel that bodykits were just awful until I realized that Gran Turismo had everything else, including tail wings, and race mod would require the rest of the package. There are very few people who don't mod their cars. I certainly do, and I want the liberty, like live4speed, to create my very own unique race car. A real race car with real race parts, which I choose and style myself, with my own unique paint job and my own graphics, decals, my own name and my own number on the car.

Forza does all of this just short of a full race mod conversion, and it's a joy to create race cars in the game, as much fun as racing them. And when you create your own race car, watching it in replays is amazingly satisfying.

I just want to be able to tuen Saleen S7's, Pagani Zondas, 599GTBs,SRT10,Corvettes,and DB9s int GT1 cars, and Panozes, Spykers,"RUFs", F430sand M3s int GT2 cars

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head. It's exactly what I tried to do with a new GTO in gt4. I custom tuned it to match cars like the C5R...and i run times about a second or two below the C5R with my GTO...which has a spoiler and some race car type rims....but is missing sponsors and decals, and a meaner overall look of the car. What Live4speed and Tenacious D have said is exactly what I want in GT....of course with improvement to everything else and then some.

what i think is that if you can improve performance of the car it should be an availible like a wing ,carbon fiber hood etc

because it does actually serve some purpose except for ricing the car out.

with the pureley cosmetic stuff i think it shouldnt go any farther than the ability to paint your car and maybe custom stickers

Guys,

What Fade To Black is saying is that there should be bodykits there for people who want them. And the people who don't want them (like you) can just not put the bodykits on. It's that simple! Say GTHD does have bodykits. Fade To Black wants bodykits, so he puts them on his car! You guys buy the game, you don't want bodykits, so you don't put them on! It's that simple!

I read in one of the previous post that they don't want custom lights like in NFS.
Well, i don't want those kind of lights either, but it would be fun if you could
fit rally lights on a car (if there would be rally type of races at night)

I think gt5 should have body kits and custem taillights or head lights. this adds an interesting new asspect to the game, and since gt is definatly in need of some new features this could work. What does it matter if their are some ricer attracted to the game anyway? being able to add body modifications does not make you a ricer. Doing nothing but body mods makes you a ricer.
