Body modding, custom tuning and GT5...

I'm not really interested in the whole "street racer" thing but would love to be able to design my own livery like a real race team. I think that would be more in keeping with the GT spirit.

So long as we can paint the car any colour we like (metallics, matts, solids and pearls, no flips unless its a stock TVR) and fit multispokes we can paint any colour Im happy.

Some liveries pre made by PD would be nice too, Heck id even settle for the ability to repaint any car in matt black and have a silver GT logo on the side

Visual modification doesn't have to be NFS-like. (Neon, spinners, big goofy wings). I'd much prefer a more functional take, much like the racing modification in GT1/2 but user-customizable. The parts would (depending on the part) affect the car's aerodynamic efficiency and maybe adjustability. And weight. Also a Forza-like livery editor would be nice.

I'd be happy if it was a basic GT Auto, but with more visual choices (more rims, more spoilers, etc.). The 'race car' livery from GT2 would also be great. It allows you to give certain liveries to road cars which have a race car version, such as the Chevrolet Corvette.

I just watched Kick-Ass (movie) and this caught my eye :dopey:

Ewww...:grumpy:

I know right.

its the Batmobile for people that can only stick Halfords tat to a normal car... meh..

id like body mods in aforza III kinda way, but not a nfs type way

a million times this, one of forza's best bits and something gt could do with if not in 5 then in 6. turning a stock car into a convincing race car via body parts and paint and then being able to drive YOUR CAR online was fantastic.

Forza 2

Forza 3 :irked:

I know GT should be leading the way with innovation, but in the case of body modding and painting, copy copy copy copy... just give us F2 style lobbies purleassse

I don't really care if bodytuning is in GT5. This is mainly because I don't like most of the tuned cars that I see people created. There are some tuners that do a great job though. They make their own bodykits and things like that. But to many people in real life use awefull aftermarket tuningparts? Let us have some of those pre-tuned cars of those nice tuners and it is good by me. For those who like it I hope it is in. But if it is in in full, I wonder how many time PD have spend to put it in.

Well the racing modification option is in the game again, you can paint your car ANY colour and not just the colours from the dealerships and you can also paint your rims. There is also some kind of body modifying option but i don't know too much about that option. To me, that's more than enough!

can we race with the cars we tuned in our gt mode or is it arcade style online racing?
in gt4, when me and my friends have a memory card battle, the cars were crazy spinning the tires and not doing anything except spinning tires.. please help

without the feature of being able to race with GT mode cars is throwing me off a bit.. no online drag races with our tuned cars, no time record of nurburgring with a certain car category (same exact car as a category but different tune ups).. u get me?

There is an issue with GT4's split-screen mode where player-2's tyres are terrible, compared to player-1's tyres (when using the same "compound" and type). This killed a "healthy" tradition of racing cars tuned especially for split-screen for me and my friends, since it was next to impossible to balance the disparity by using different tyres on the two cars.

You could race your garage cars in split-screen since GT2, and GT5:P's online allowed you to do the same (more-or-less) so it seems likely at the very least that GT5 will allow us to do the same, this time with some interesting new possibilities. 👍

I'm kind of in the middle here too...

I think professional parts, aero kits. splitters, adjustable spoliers etc would be great. Sponsor stickers (although only small, realistic and appropriate ones) and race team livery would be a fantastic addition too, like on the original GT games. But that's it... no tacky graphic design stuff. spinners, neons, metalic tinted windows, fluffy dice and nodding dogs please.

A small selection of simple body stripes would also be a cool edition to the game. Nothing too fancy or complicated, just something that allows you some creative input as to how your car looks, and differentiate it from other cars on the track. I think the replays can sometimes look a little boring when all the cars look the same/stock.

I think the key thing here is being able to make your car 'your car' visually, in the same way that you can with the physical set-up.

I think the above is reasonable, would bring a new element to the game without making it tacky and possibly offensive (as can be seen with some custom graphics in Forza 3), and it would be cool to recognise a car online for it's looks, rather than the PSN ID.

That's my two pence....

I think its about time i added something to this thread so here goes :D, GT5 should have body mods etc not the kinda thing you'd see on some eunuchs 1.0 Vauxhall Nova at the B&Q carpark on a friday night lol, I made this in about 5 minutes on ProStreet (a street racing) game, and im sure it doesn't look like a complete shiole, i personally think it looks like a little touring car or something so given the correct tools it world be a great addition to GT5

Really? Never knew that to be honest, might explain a lot in hindsight...;)
Darn, if only I knew back then this 'glitch' existed I might have had a better excuse or wouldn't be so curtious in allowing my guests to pick the player 1 slot and choose the track and car first.......

Well, I only tried it one evening. We set about racing, and I noticed a disparity in grip (we were using cars from GT4:P and Fuji '90s, as a point of comparison) so we then deliberately used the same car and took turns as player 1 and player 2. Either it was an extreme rubber-band effect (which we now know affected grip as well as power) that just so happened to coincide with the player swaps, or there actually was a problem.

We've always (since GT) raced with the "catch-up" option off. I can't remember if it was available on GT4, though.

I've raced split-screen a lot with both friends and some family members in GT4 and never noticed any difference, not saying it can't be the case there is indeed a difference, maybe I just wasn't, unlike you, able to detect all the subtleties of that physics engine at the time ( which might very well be true....).

I actually wouldnt mind having a NFS carbon type deal too tho. not only picking your wheels and body part but being able to paint and resize different aspects.

Sorry if any one post this already but i think gt5 will have custom paint job and body

I say no to body modding and custom paint jobs simply because if I see people screwing up cars that should not be messed with like say a Ford GT or an Enzo I would probably feel nautius to the point where I may actually vomit.

Although your reasons for objecting to it are not shared by me and saying they therefore shouldn't be included is obsolete anyway as both possibilities are already confirmed to be included, bodykits and paintshop are in, thankfully.

What is to stop livery editor being chucked in?

Er..what exactly do you mean by that? Would you like to have it included or not? Or do you find it strange it still isn't included?
To be clear, I'd really love a livery editor but there's already a thread devoted to it where I made my opinion clear multiple times.

Well I say yes to body modding... so there.
