I'm pretty sure somebody at PD will upload some DLC sooner or later.........many of the fans are probably going to want custom tuning, as well as wheel changes on standard cars, real bad.

This is exactly the same kind of denial.
It was a pretty blunt statement back then, but everybody went into denial. Don't do it again. Accept it. No wheel changes on standard cars. That simple. Get over it.

With that spin in mind lets now re-visit the ending.. "You cannot change (modify) the wheels on a Standard Model car."
Modifications could likely be changing OE style (differt OE wheel).. maybe center, lip, and or rivet finish.. powder coat vs paint.. etc.. etc.. Honestly I find it hard to believe they would leave something like changing wheels out.
Could simply be due to translation.. I know they have a domestic team but still.
The word "OR" changes everything - it implies there is a choice of 2 things.
Either the localisation team needs to be fired OR it actually means that

"Purchase new wheels or change your car's existing set" simply means that if you have purchased more than one set of wheels, you can change between them in your garage or tuning area. I don't think it's any more complicated than that.

This is pretty odd. I had this image of taking a Camaro SS and being handed the Camaro LM after applying it, but hopefully it's not just that. Need to find out what this means...
I'm thinking this too. For my Premiums. That last sentence makes it really quite clear that Standards can't get them.
It's only little when it's negative, of course. I think the fact we're actually having one of the options available to these cars back in 2004 removed is cause for a bit of disappointment. As much as I rail on about Standards, even I didn't think we'd be getting them with less than what the originally enjoyed, options-wise.

@ your avatar. Hopefully GT5 will have the R34 Z-tune. No one has really been talking about this car, but it is definitely one of my favourites, and by far the best skyline gt-r.

Yes I know that's how it is as that's exactly what happens in prologue, but in GT4, you could see the wheels were low res 2D textures when starting from a start and the camera switches to the three different angles around your car. They were like this all the time once you were in the game, only photomode, garage, dealerships etc had 3D rims.

The wheel on the left is high poly 3d model, the one on the right is just a texture. I'm guessing the brakes are there on the standard cars just much lower in polygons and mainly done with textures. Sure it won't look as good, but I'm not complaining. I still think you'll be able to buy new wheels for standard cars.👍

I think it will be like GT4 for standard cars.
You can change the rim, but you can only change the rim to the same size as the original set of rims, you cant increase or decrease the size or width, which is what you can do with premium models.

GT PSP was a straight-up port of GT4's Arcade Mode... that's a pretty simple task requiring only a few people to complete.

No it wasn't, GT PSP no doubt was based on a lot of GT4's assets but it wasn't a port. The game engine for one is completely different to GT4's, more like GT5
's if anything. Besides that, if you did a straight port of GT5's game engine with GT4's content you would be left with a pretty hefty file size. GT PSP had to be less that 1 Gigabyte in size, Not only would every car and every track have to be downscaled to fit size wise but they'd have to be optomised to ensure smooth running while still being good quality graphically and on top of that the whole game engine would need to be coded and optomised to run on the PSP instead of the PS3. That's a lot more work than you are giving them credit for.

im with u with the part that says customize ur own car, but why u r trying to mix Gran Turismo 5 with Need For Speed Underground n Need For Speed Underground 2???, Gran Turismo 5 its a driving simulator, well... real driving simulator, n sure, best game ever, with a 2003-2004 game( Need For Speed Underground n Need For Speed Underground 2), im a NFS fan but dont try mix Gran Turismo 5 w other game, BUT I LOVE MORE GRAN TURISMO SERIES, IM A REAL GT FAN, GRAN TURISMO IS FOR EVER!!!!!!!, FORZA MOTORSPORT SERIES SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! n if u want to customize ur car play FORZA MOTORSUCK 3, my cousin have it.

I think the ability to purchase "new" wheels will still be available for standard cars. We will however, not be allowed to "change" the current wheels. I think size and width are what's being referred to here. 👍
Bury your hopes. The Standard Model is with capital letters. There's no chance it's not referring to anything else than Standard cars.

There is indeed hope that the wording means that we can still buy new wheels for the standards, they'll just be a fixed size/colour like they were in GT4.
It sounds more logical when you question why there would be any reason for them to remove this functionality when porting the models over from GT4.

I'm reading this again with a fresh set of eyes this morning. I think you're right. You can replace OR modify (diameter or width) premium car wheels. But with standard cars you can only slap on new wheels.
