i had to re-learn my native tounge last summer cuz i knew it(formally), but the ppl i was talking to were young and using all these new terms n crap. so skroo dis, ya'herd?

I personally think its a good idea to type as clearly as possible, if to accomplish nothing else but prevent dicussions about your grammar. And i do and have, as an older individual in the dirfters forum, try and encourage people to use proper english, again to avoid discussion like these... I think that famine's method of explaining why an individual should not type in an unclear manner is so much more productive than insults. More importantly these insults don't just affect that individual, but a group larger than him or her...

We have a great many non-English speakers on the forums. How are they supposed to know that teh = la/le or die/der? Or "rox" means that something is good?

We all have a duty to express ourselves as clearly as possible. The freedom to say what you wish is matched by the responsibility of making sure that what you wish to say is understood - and let's face it, context is hard enough in a typewritten form, without having to grab a dictionary too.

In a way I agree with you. I do believe you should type as clear as possible. But some people don't, although the grammar mistakes aren't as catostrophic as some people make them out to be. A majority of the people here who make fun of drifters are people who can comprehend this kind of slang, and are making fun of us for it.

I don't think its ok to put down an entire subsection of the GT3 Forum because their typing is slightly different, and for the most part comprehensible even to foreigners. A lot of drifters talk regular english, its just a few that occasionally use slang. But I don't see why people try for force this schism between drifters and the rest of the forum by blowing up this issue of how we type on occasion.

If posters keep putting down drifters, the animosity will continue to grow, and they will prefer to stay in this little drifting section of the forum. I know im not the only one who thinks this

Knowing America we will surely decide to re-write all the rules because we can do it better. Ah, somehow I'm glad that we are not at that level yet, at least here where I live, when it comes to drifting's popularity. All we do here are Autocrosses and small events. Although I am not saying I have competed or am a pro in any ways. I am interested though and might someday enroll in one of the AutoX schools here. I have watched the events here and love the generally, small and back-to-the-roots kind of feel it has.

Regarding the ad. You kind of knew that was coming. IMO, I wouldn't really care that much. It sucks though, I have to admit. But then, I'd say to myself, "I've got far too many things to worry about than this ****...".

Rather off-topic though, did you get the Evo, exhaust? I am really curious. I can send you some pics of a Mitsubishi Evo 5 owned by a local shop from here. 10.79 in the quarter. No NOS or anything. Of course you have to take into account the weather and all that, to get that good of a time, but yeah. Really great car. I can even send the dyno runs. What color are you going to get?

I just read through this thread and I'm surprised all of you are so upset and heated about such an Ad. First off, can anyone prove this is a legit ad from McDonalds? It could have been fabricated to mock drifting. I doesn't upset me like it did some of you. I will boycott McDonalds not as a whole franchise, but certain locations that I've been where the service is bad. McDonalds, Burger King, etc... provide us with fast food at a resonable price, and I'm pretty satisfied with that, are you?
Lets be positive, at least it promotes drifting, if it is a real ad. If I had no idea what drift was, after seeing the ad, it would make me want to research and thus make me more knowledgable about drifting and not be an igonrant fool about it. So optimistically thinking, I think the ad is alright because in no way did it ever convey the message that drifting is simple.

The sad thing about the Mickey D add and its corporation and ad campain is that they must think we teenagers and yound adults in or 20's and 30's are basically so devoid of common sense that we will believe that md will make us rappers (that dam tv commercial proves that) and now fast and furious folks who drift. The sad thing is i bet the people who mad the ads really believe in what they are trying to promote. Or more likely, they are people craving the attention that the "cooler" areas of pop culture might give them... Jack In the Box has a better dollar menu anyways... BTW the post insulted me in no way, just another piece of proof that orange and other neon colored cars will always look faster and cooler than they really are.

However the ad does show a "street racer" image, with the Honda and the Hyundai in the background...
And it talks about pulling 11's and Turbos and Drifting, so kids, mostly new drivers, are gonna see this and be like ohh drift this drift that......My main point it that Kids have already begun to "follow".
Several honda owners, acura owners, and kids with there parents cars, in MY SCHOOL have succumbed to the "drift showoff" ads on the local chat sites, and the cars in Import Tuner and Sport Compact. These kids are pulling there e-braks around corners lookin like idiots then they come into the school saying, yeah we drift this we drift that...
lets say me and some firends have already put THOSE people in there place....but there are going to be many schools and places where kids like this are gonna be, and this AD influences it.....ARRRGGGG

I don't know...the box tasted far better than what was inside - The box is also more healthy since it's high in fiber 👍. Well...maybe not - who knows what chemicals were used in processing the cardboard - or the funny looking filling put within the box for that matter.

...which makes you just another fad follower as well. You happened to get in on the fad a little earlier, that's all. If it hadn't gotten popular, you never would have heard of it either, so get over it.

Drifting is something that some people do. Many of them are cashing in on the rising visibility of it. It's not a noble cause, or a "lifestyle", or the best thing ever done with wheeled vehicles. It's a fashion, a fad, a craze. Like all crazes drifting had early followers and when it's over it will have followers who still enjoy it. Accept that fact and stop acting like drifting is something more than it is.
