umm what are we canadians doing to driftng???? hmm i wonder....... lets seeeeee here......maybe NOTHING!
maybe all the drift enthusiasts i know up here have been doing there thing for the past few years, keeping it underground, and keeping it low key......and now YOU (da da da naaaa trumpets sounding flags raising ****AMERICANS****) decide you can make some money off it so lets go and develop some sort of scheme so we can have a new platform to create products for thus making more money.......like everything else you americans do this sums it up "lets expliot something thats not ours in order to benefit ourselves"
I was referring to the fact that you don't even seem to know the correct wording, spelling, or pronunciation, as so clearly and accurately pointed out by Famine. But that's OK, you're Canadian, so all is forgiven. It's only Americans who get no consideration.
So let me get this straight:
1) You somehow want drifting to have become popular enough that you and a select group of cool people got to hear about it. But now that the cool club have become True Believers, you don't want anybody else to find out about it, because then it won't be the exclusive cool club any more. Here's news: you wouldn't be in the cool club either if it had not become popular.
You're like one of those people that builds a big fancy house in a brand-new subdivision, then goes to every public meeting and screams and yells against anyone who wants to build more houses in the area.
2) Drifting, as drifters have stated many many times over, is
huge in Japan. Lots of big, well-organized events, lots of professionals,
lots of corporate sponsorship. Right? See that guy in your avatar wearing the racing suit? Another news bulletin: some company paid him to wear each and every patch on that suit, and put each and every sticker on his car.
But somehow, this is OK to you, because
it's not America. Millions of corporate yen go into making drift popular in Japan, so popular that it spreads across the Pacific for you to learn about... but if American dollars touch it, that's poison and bound to destroy the wonderful, pure, sainted drift lifestyle.
I'd love for you to prove how drifting is owned by Japan. Give it your best shot. And if it is, you better stop doing it quick before their lawyers sue you big time.
It's OK to like what you like. That's not the issue. But the double standards around this place, particularly as they apply to America, are just unbelievable.
but i just wish someone would agree that if it wasn't for americas nack for overly
commercialising a trend or activity.. then maybe the japanese style of drifting would remain unheard of and untampered with.
What "Japanese style"? The one with well organized and sanctioned D1 competitions, major corporate sponsorship, and popular drift heroes? Sounds like, hmmm, NASCAR to me. Or F1. Or any other form of organized motorsport anywhere in the world. But of course, only Americans will ruin anything.
Or did you mean the outlaw, underground, too-cool-for-prime-time touge drifting? If that had remained "unheard of and untampered with", you sure as hell never would have heard of it in Canada!
