I really hope our friend @CBH will come back with us@Thorin Cain What do you think of GT7 and the PP tuning problem?
I don't think it's right to have it change the PP when you change the transmission and suspension. That's why fordlaser or CBH isn't playing it anymore. That's what he told me, until they change it.
If things change I will be back but it looks like GT7 is finish with me Jerome, we all here had a lot fun in GT6 but some how PD takes the fun out of tuning for GT7. PD has gone away from a traditional GT game to a direction which is kind of queer, and I really think a clown must have invented the tuning side of things, rather than someone from PD.I really hope our friend @CBH will come back with us![]()
Hi good buddy. Hope you are all well over there@Thorin Cain What do you think of GT7 and the PP tuning problem?

Them blunderheads at PD should have left it alone like it was in other previous GT games, then I would still be playing this game. I love tuning but this new system is BS to me. The online players should have a Bop system for sure like in GT Sport & for some online Time Trials, and for events in game should not have a PP that effects the tuning side of things.Hi good buddy. Hope you are all well over there
Sorry about the delay, I was trying to decide whether a short easy answer or a full on TC type booklet was the way to go
Seemingly unpopular opinion incoming...
To be honest, although I find it mildly irritating (because there are flaws with how it works), I actually do think that changing the performance of the car through tuning should have an impact on the Performamce Points.
The whole idea of the PP and/or BOP system, is to try and create a more level playing field between players online, which is good. But the way PP worked in GT5 & 6 didn't really accomplish that because you could have one guy with a tuned car vs one guy with the identical car with stock settings and there could be as much as 6-10 seconds difference per lap based solely on the tune...not the driver. And with the BOP system, the cars basic behaviours are changed by cutting/increasing the power and weight, which ends up with you choosing a car for a particular reason, only to find that the extra weight has made the rear more unwieldy and the reduced power has put all your gear ratios into a somewhat sub-optimal state. Or you are now bouncing off the rev limiter 250m before a braking zone because the car now weight less and has more power.
The new PP system in my opinion is a great idea in theory...infact it was something I had been thinking about before, during GT Sport with the rotten BOP ruining my NSXs. But there are undoubtedly issues with it.
Where I have found problems is with the transmission settings mostly. This seems to effect the PP based on the power/torque vs top speed setting and it's all based on no particular track. So you could have much higher PP for a gearbox that isn't tuned to suit the track you are on, than a totally optimal setting.
As an example. I was racing with a group of friends last night and we had a race in the GR.4s and my "stock" Genesis G70 was around 30PP higher than one guy using the Atenza...even though his car weighed 20kg less and he had installed a different turbo giving him 110bhp more than I was running.
This couldn't be right I thought.
It wasn't until after the race when he was so far off the pace he asked me what PP I was running when I told him he wasn't a happy bunny because I had so much more...then I asked him his power and weight figures...he quickly changed his tune (so to speak) and went from P!$$#d off at me for running a higher PP, to wondering how in the hell he had lost so much PP. But in this case the PP clearly reflected the performance as I left the grid quicker than he did and just about held on to the lead over him into Turn 1, but as of mid corner, I started to pull a gap and it kept increasing with every corner after that.
So yes, there is something a bit strange about it. And I do find it irritating trying to set the cars for a specific PP. But I definitely think there should be some changes to the PP based on the set-up, but it seems like it may be a little mixed up. But honestly, I've not spent much time properly experimenting with it to say it is broken or poorly implemented yet.
PS. @CBH, I'm sorry to hear it bothered you so much that it took the enjoyment out of the game for you. Hope they sort it out soon and we see you back with smile on your face ).
That's fair enough, Ubisoft ruined the Assassins Creed series for me by making to many silly changes, so I totally understand your feelings on it.Them blunderheads at PD should have left it alone like it was in other previous GT games, then I would still be playing this game. If we ever get online Time Trials I may have a look at them, but I told a lot of my friends I am finish with GT7 for good. I think I would look a fool if I came back to this game, because I hated the way they made the tuning now effects the PP.
I see what happens down the track my friend, and then I might see if if I can accept the new way of tuning with PP. At the moment I just can't seem to accept the new way of tuning with PP, but if we get online Time Trials that may make me feel better about this game. That's fair enough, Ubisoft ruined the Assassins Creed series for me by making to many silly changes, so I totally understand your feelings on it.

Of course I'd welcome you back my friend 👍. I know it's not really the way the world seems to work these days, but as far as I'm concerned everyone must do what they feel is right for them and they get to change their mind if they wantI see what happens down the track my friend, and then I might see if if I can accept the new way of tuning with PP. Will you welcome me back down the track if I came back to this game my friend, and sorry @Brewguy44 for talking about this in your Thread.
It's a fine game I just have to accept the new change but sometimes I just find it hard, you know what I mean.Of course I'd welcome you back my friend 👍. Don't worry about it. I don't mind at all. It's just a way for us to communicate with each other.I see what happens down the track my friend, and then I might see if if I can accept the new way of tuning with PP. It's so ridiculous to have it that way that it effects the gear ratios on a car, and why have it if it is unrealistic. You are bang on about fully adjustable gear ratios increasing PP for no reason.
A longer gear ratio increases PP even on short windy track. Absurd.
They seem to be a bit early with these gifts, I got the Wicked Fabrications '51 Ford for mine a full week early tooLook what I got from GT7 for My Birthday 🎂 🥳 😁
Woo Hoo!!! Happy Birthday to me. It's not until Saturday but I'll take an early gift.
