Hey, all here is the new Corvette. Due for release in 05-06 i think, it looks a lot more mean.

Headlights are way too Viper'ish to me. The rear should be a bit more stretched. Need's more ponies to keep up with the Viper. New headlights.

I think it looks awesome. The head-lights remind me of the 360 Modena. The rest just looks like a more "edgy" version of the C5. (if that makes any sense)

I'd still rather have a new GTO though. :shrugs:

looks like they took design cues from several cars and mashed it onto the basic shape of a corvette.

I wish they'd take some design cues from their classics - my favourite was the old Stingrays

O, I love this car. Everyone keeps posting pics all over the place making my wanting of it worse. I just love the new lines and non-pop up headlights.

Yeah, it's a Viper wanna-be. I don't care if it beats a Viper in turns anymore, it still looks so un-original because it looks like all the ideas for the car came from the Viper.👎 How pathetic!

I'm not seeing Viper styling when I look at the new Vette at all. The headlights look slightly similar, but they look more like Ferrari lights to me. The only thing that I can see that looks like a Viper is the large door/front fender vent on the sides. (if you know what I mean) The rest of the car looks nothing like a Viper.

its looks suck. a GRILLE OPENING??? WHAT THE ****??? :odd:

Cano

its "face" looks stupid. it looks like it has a stupid, STUPID, irrtating grin. it really annoys me. it sucks.

It's going in my record books as the first since '69 to please me. I was astounded when they unveiled it. It's about time they had a good design, IMO. No flaming please, it's an Opinion forum.

I definatly agree with you on that sick looking grin.

I think they made the grill that way to help the foglights look like they were in the right place. In most cars, the foglights are in a more central position.

It looks sweet and the 500hp motor is not something to be ashamed of. GM's project "Blue Thunder" sounds pretty cool, a super Corvette sorta.

I wouldn't mind having one of those to drive around. Can't wait to see it at the Detroit Auto Show.

It doesn't look like a viper, looks more like the XLR if you ask me.

A super Corvette that the team at GM is working on. I guessing something along the lines of a Corvette SS maybe. I'll try to find some info on it. But they talked about it on MotoTrend or AutoWeek TV.

Sorry its called the Blue Devil and here is the article

From the Dec. 22nd AutoWeek...

"The 2005 C6 CORVETTE hasn't even been officially introduced, but the Corvette development team is already hard at work on future, high-performance variants, including a wild 600-plus-hp Ford GT-fighter known internally as Blue Devil.

While chief engineer Dave Hill has publicly announced the Z06 version of the next-gen Vette due in 2005 will have 500hp, his engine team wasn't sure until recently that they could actually achieve that impressive figure. Sources now say that it will be a case of "nothing beats cubic inches," with 95 extra horses (compared to today's 405-hp Z06) coming as a result of boring and stroking the next-gen Chevy small blockV8 to 427 cubic inches--7.0 liters. Not since the late 1960s has that magic number of cubes been under a Corvette's composite hood (though there were some 454s along the way).

More important, Chevy is clearly investigating an ultra-performance Corvette designed to do battle with-and conquer-the mid-engined GT from rival Ford, as well as many supercars from across the pond. The Blue Devil (no one knows why it has that name-could it be Chevy hopes to bedevil Ford's blue oval?) has unofficial stats that make the name seem appropriate. Reportedly producing 625 hp, Blue Devil's initial power will come from a supercharged 427 engine--and it will use lightweight carbon fiber for key body parts, reducing weight by several hundred pounds to drop the super C6 to about 2900 pounds.

The price indicated on the internal documents is $100,00 for Blue Devil, if and when it actually makes production in 2006--at the earliest. We wonder whether the Devil's chances of seeing light are further improved following product czar Bob Lutz's comments that he'd like to see a Chevy-badged car like the 2002 Cadillac Cien concept.

General Motors officials aren't connecting the dots and saying this is a go, but the high-performance heart of Blue Devil is the kind of specialized, high-content engine project envisioned for the General's new Performance Build Center set to open shop nest year in Wixom Michigan. The center is intended to attack projects with "a sort of race team mentality," says Ed Koerner, vice president of GM Powertrain engineering operations.

Patterned after low-volume race shops, the center could build up to 10,000 power-plants per year for very specific, high-end, high-performance GM vehicles. Koerner says engines from the shop should appear in showroom vehicles by 2005."

Looks great to me, and looks was about the only thing I didn't like about the C5. (aside from the crappy Playskool interior)

The sharper edges give the car a less 'bulbous' look than the C5, which look every bit as a fat and wide as it was. This design is much cleaner, leaner and meaner. It has a much more sophisticated appearance than any Vette before it.

Props to the Corvette team 👍 The horsepower wars continue.

The only thing they should have kept was the pop up headlights. Thats a Corvette icon. But the fixed lights make it look sleeker.

I think that the reason they gave the Z06 less horse is to balence it out with the other qualities of the car.
